Once again, you've taken a piece that most people would chuck in the fireplace and revealed it to be a thing of beauty. I never tire of watching you work your magic
It is indeed a beautiful piece of wood and the imperfections are what I find really make pieces stand out. It makes each thing we do unique from all the others. I also very much appreciate that you're wearing a Vietnam POW/MIA bracelet. You don't see many of them these days but we need to remember all those men who are still over there. Enjoying your work and look forward to more of your projects.
Beautiful bowl. There is no such thing as flaws or imperfections in wood. Those things make it unique and give it character. Always the best piece to make and buy!
It doesn't happen often that I watch a video of a turning that results in such a superb finished product. I am happy that tonight I tuned in to watch. Thanks for sharing.
This is beautiful! As the wrinkles that mark the faces of many deeply-felt smiles, tears and frowns of people in this world, making them stronger. Thanks.
A lovely feature, that crack ,as you point out. It's taken me most of my life to give up chasing "perfection." Flaws hold character, whether in people or a cracked burl - your piece of work is perfect! Thanks.
Thank you! I've had many, many comments suggesting I fill the with resin, and recently took another close look at the platter...but I agree with you, :) and will leave it as is.
That is an unusual (to me) and beautiful piece of wood. It gave me a strange thought; it reminded me of my wife's pumpkin pie, crack and all. I'm getting weird in my old age! Beautiful job. I'm glad this piece held together.
My sister (a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art) tells me that where average people see only what IS, artists see what a raw something can BECOME. Here is a case in point. Beautiful.
I have a similar piece. I have been holding off turning it as I didn't know how to start. I think you just showed the way. The figure in this stuff is magnificent. The finish you got is outstanding. When I first saw the piece I thought you would fill the crack with epoxy. I am sure I would have. However I wasn't there and the result you achieved is quite nice. Thanks for another great video.
If I had made this platter. I would have filled that crack with ground up turquoise and resin. A blue 'river' in the midst of a beautiful bowl. You are a very gifted man.
When you first started I thought it would make a very nicely clock but by the time you were finished I realized that if it had been a clock no one would see the back of it. Very nicely done. - Marly

Hey, you did get a thumbs up from me. I don't have a shop or tools so I can only watch and armchair critique. I'm subscribed so I must live this stuff. My take on this: I would have loved to see a deeper profile, the bottom curved up a bit more to the live edge, and fill that damn crack with something amazing like epoxy and turquoise dust. or even a gold flake epoxy or resin. Really nice wood. Really nice.
Thank you John, I appreciate the input...and I think it may be time to make an adjustment to this platter. I've had a huge amount of people commenting that I should have used resin or epoxy to fill that crack. I'll take a look at it today and perhaps make a change.... If I do, I'll show it in a video (stand alone or included with another...)
Greetings from Barbados ... Your 'coral wood' bowl is truly beautiful, tropical almost. While I also like the resin mixed media pieces I am glad you retained the integrity of the burl. I am a new subscriber!
Thank you very much! I debated on whether to fill that crack, but decided to feature it as it was naturally instead. I've had much feedback both ways...liking as is and suggesting resin... I'm glad you like it! Welcome to my channel! I appreciate your sub! 😊
I just love wood, why, no clue. This piece of wood is probably the prettiest I have ever seen. I am so glad you could see it's beauty too. Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate your perspective!
Burl wood always amazes me of all the patterns in it another one of nature’s wonders. Beautiful finish.
Thank you! Truly a wonder!
Nice work on the wood, interesting that you didn't fill the crack using glue and sawdust. Lovely hand dish and looking forward to your next video.
Beautiful! The grain makes me think what coral would look like, if you could turn it.

Thought the same thing, beautiful piece.
Those burl pieces have such an amazing look. Kudos for seeing the beauty in the imperfections. Nice job!
Thanks so much!
That is one unique looking piece of wood! Turned out beautifully! Nice work!💪😁💖

Right on point Bruce, thank you for that...and I couldn't agree more about "flaws" and character! 😊
Gorgeous piece. Simple, yet has a major story to tell. Love the crack makes it that much more unique.
Thank you for seeing that story Brett! I appreciate that!
Reflects the nature of the wood beautifully.
This wood has a very interesting grain. It makes me think of the coral I saw diving. Beautiful
That crack gives it character. You Sir, are the man! Another awesome & beautiful piece.

Just a gorgeous piece! So nice to honor and respect nature!!
Thanks very much, and absolutely!
Really enjoy your videos. And yes, that is a beautiful piece of wood. But, also kinda looks like over-cooked pumpkin pie!

Beautiful transformation of an ordinary looking wood !

When you look at that thing from above, it REALLY feels like looking into a 3D space that is 10x larger than it actually is. Very cool piece.
Thank you! The grain does have an illusion depth...or space :)
That would make a beautiful center piece for a table or if turned into a plaque, hung on a wall. I love it!!

What an amazing wood. It looks like an anatomical cross-section of a lung or something. Thanks, Rod! Lovely, indeed.
