Radically new Corvette features one surprising change

  • General Motors has unveiled the eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette. The model is, arguably, the biggest change for the Corvette since the sports car was first introduced in 1953.
The Corvette has changed a lot over the years, but it has always remained a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car. The new 2020 Corvette has its engine behind the seats, a change that radically alters the car's appearance and, certainly, how it will feel to drive.
"In terms of comfort and fun, it still looks and feels like a Corvette, but drives better than any vehicle in Corvette history," said GM president Mark Reuss.

If Ford makes something to compete with the c8 Stingray they should bring back the Maverick that car isn't well known even amongst a lot of Ford enthusiasts so it would be ok to use that name plus it's a bold name. I think the Maverick had 6 and 8 cylinder motors so maybe they can use the Ecoboost from the raptor and tune it up to 600 so it could have more power then the stingray and for a v8 maybe the gt350r motor what would you think if they did something like that

Wrong and bad way to do business. You want as much customers as you can. Mass production is more likely to generate more profit. The C8 corvette is doing what the first Gen NSX did to the competition. It’s showing us that If a company truly believe something could be done at a certain price point, it CAN be done. I have to hand all the props to GM for pulling this off and keeping the price to a range that average people can aspire to. The accessibility is the one feature that makes this car truly special..and the performance specs aren't too bad either! That said, I have no illusions about the fact that GM fcks up a lot, from an initial quality and reliability perspective, so I suspect there will be some issues with this car at launch. But my hope is that there won't be anything major that can't be addressed with a production tweak or two. If that proves to be the case, I will definitely purchase a C8 Stingray Z51 in a few years.

Of all the people to reiterate this widely quoted mistruth, the President if GM states the sub$60k base model does 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. As Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter states in the 071819 reveal and other , this requires the $5000 Z51 performance package. Is this guy that disconnected with his own product, was fed this unverified point by others, or knowingly lying?
Believe this is the same corporate culture and standard that resulted in another GM executive spinning his ZR1 Corvette into a wall last year during a globally-televised race event at low speed.

The C8 will be the first US car to have world wide demand since the Model T. In one year, GM can sell 15,000 in Germany, not to mention what it can sell in the rest of Europe and Asia. If a comparable C is 5 seconds slower around the 'Ring than the exotics, exotics' future sales are in trouble. Of course, the exotics can brag they have better quality leather and titanium hood latches to justify their higher prices. The C8 will lift the boats for all US export cars as the C8 showcases a US car that has excellent engineering and good value for the money.

I can't deny that I've always love Corvettes. The price and the performance are absolutely amazing but the exterior design is such a mish mash of other cars it's distracting. Rear lights look like the Camaro, Rear bumper looks like 2019 honda Civic, I just feel that the hood design and rear bumper cover design were missed opportunities for this historic release. Offering the steering wheel on the right or the left is pure marketing genious! That will open up a lot more market for them and I'm confident they will do very well ... just not for me. No Corvertte for me, not Supra for me, I'm happy with my Porsche Turbo ;)
