It’s actually the other way around. It used to be classified as Selenicereus, but genetic studies placed it into Epiphyllum. But it’s not very relevant. Cactus and plant taxonomy in general are extremely messy, and most species have multiple names and there’s plenty of differing opinions. The old name for this one was actually Chiapasophyllum chrystocardium. It was also included in Marniera by some.
I got a cutting of one online plant shop after seeing yours last year,I fell in love with it. You are so right on all things,it propagates so easy! Thank you Emma and Cleo! 💚💚🪴🌿 Natalie Australia 🇦🇺
It's amazing! I had a wee one that died rapidly after purchasing, but it was probably suffering in the shop already. Maybe I'll have more luck with a big one.
Just finally found one in BC Canada after 2 years of waiting!!! Woop!!!🙌🏼 Unfortunately it was soaking wet, heavy soil with moss growing on it, had to repot straight away the tips were already yellowing 😮 wish me luck!
Emma! Thank you, this is one of my faves 😍 hangs in my East window. I got a small hanging basket from a big box store that is groWing beautifully. I also purchased a rescue orchid cactus that is also growing beautifully 😍. Love my jungle cacti!! Always a lovely video.
Thank you for the video, lovely to see your enthusiasm for this awesome plant. I do feel like these guys are pretty versatile, so in case anyone wants another option, I’ve been growing mine happily in PON with a reservoir and it’s been loving it. I also hang mine right in an east window (kent uk) so it’s been getting lots of direct light, it’s not as dark as yours as a consequence but has been growing really quickly 😊 🌿☀️
Wow! I also have a calico named Cleo. We inherited her after losing a family member earlier this year. She is a plant mangler so it's been interesting, LOL
I love mine 💚 I have a couple of other jungle cacti in terracotta pots and they are doing so well (both are rhipsalis). Do you feel like this kid would also do well in a terracotta pot?
This has been on my wish list forever, but it seems I cannot find it. I'm also in the UK, but the ones I saw online were very small. Can you tell is which online shop did you use? Thanks!
Interesting, I panicked when you said no direct sun so I checked my records. I’ve had mine in my only south facing window since I purchased it last August. I do have mine in a self watering hanging planter.
For whatever reason mine is growing a lot but all the new growth is pretty small and looks more like a ric rac cactus. It’s in a west facing window and in mostly bark. Any ideas? I want it to get those broad fern looking (not)leaves
What's that silvery plant behind you? Is it just a silver sword with that white powder pesticide on it? My favorite way to keep track of watering is the planta app, just enter the details and check the plant when it tells me to and it automatically changes on time of year and weather etc. You can override it even. Very helpful for large collections

I don't own this yet, but did buy a curly sue jungle cactus the other day. Can't wait to see it size up and get those iconic leaves

How's it going after two weeks?
Love the fern leaf orchid cactus; thanks for sharing Emma!

I don't have a Fern leaf, but I LOVE my ric rac!
Ric rac's are also great!
I just had a cutting arrive. I can't wait to get it growing. Thanks. 😊
Yours has got HUGE!!
Cleo in the background spooked me 😂 I thought she was about to knock the plant off
Me too 😄
she's a mini menace sometimes 🙃 but luckily rarely knocks plants off places
It’s such a beautiful plant Emma definitely on my list real enjoy jungle cactus xx

I changed the Epiphyllum Phyllanthus shoot to a Chrysocardium shoot, I don’t know how it’s accepted, I planted it straight into the soil.

I have the orchid cactus and ricrac cactus 😀🇨🇦
I was wondering how your Scindapsus/pictus/pothos combination is growing?
Just got one this week from fb marketplace. Such a coincidence 😅😅but great timing of course
😉

I got this one from the plant point last year, not sure if they still have them in stock but worth a look!

it really does depend on the plant and where you live! If yours is happy in direct sun, keep it there 😉
I want one so bad but I have no idea where I’d have room for one. 😂
For whatever reason mine is growing a lot but all the new growth is pretty small and looks more like a ric rac cactus. It’s in a west facing window and in mostly bark. Any ideas? I want it to get those broad fern looking (not)leaves
Mine extended long and skinny first and then it broadened the same long stalks afterwards. Maybe yours will do the same 😊

I've had my fern leaf cactus since 2021. It's beautiful but not growing much ( it's in a 4 inch pot). I'm afraid to repot.
Thank you. I know how to proceed with getting this baby to flourish
