I totally agree I've been saying this for awhile was a wish years ago when I was kid and now that this topic has been all over some want a cartoon some want this cgi movie but an anime fits best. Plus every season can split up better than an 1 and half film. In long I 1000% agree.

I imagine the Disney worlds getting maybe five minutes each if it's a KH1 adaptation. There's not enough time even in a three hour movie to establish the characters, learn the lore and move the plot in a meaningful way that will do justice to Kingdom Hearts.
Let's be fair. That would absolutely not help Sora and Donald's relationship. Deep Jungle and all their little interactions leading up to hallow bastion are very important to their Bond, and without it, Donald and Goffy staying by Sora's side even without the Keyblade doesn't hit as hard.
Then again, some Cutscene compilation for KH1 ends up totaling around 3-4 hours, so I guess It could be done with a bit of cutting and minimal use of heartless fights. Maybe they could cut the number of worlds in half and say move the important parts of deep jungle to Wonderland as an example.

If I were adapting KH for full length films, I would want the room for each of the longer games to be spread out into at least a trilogy each. That way you could get depth and investment into the characters. YES, that would make it a long film franchise, but we're already talking about a series with over a dozen games. I'd give each film a subtitle, without becoming as bad as "358/2 Days." Perhaps each of the Days films' subtitles would include the word Days, and such. Perhaps it would go: Destiny trilogy (KHI, reference to Destiny Islands) Memories trilogy (Chain of Memories) Twilight trilogy (2) Days trilogy Dream trilogy (Dream Drop Distance) Beyond trilogy (Beyond Sleep) Master trilogy (KH3)
I’d rather tell it in strict chronological order and have it end with KH II, because in my universe, the destruction of a Heartless and Nobody means permadeath.
I just don't understand how they'd do this right. Best case scenario in my mind is that it would be a standalone story that either ties into the broader KH storyline like the Fallout series, or a totally separate non-canon story that exists within its own timeline. I can't imagine doing an adaptation of any of the games well. The storyline of these games is so heavily geared toward the gameplay. I don't know if people are going to want to sit through a story that's 70% watered-down retelling of popular Disney movies they've already seen before. Plus, to be really frank, we've seen from previous attempts at "movies" (Back Cover) that the writing of this series doesn't exactly hold up great on its own without the accompanying gameplay.

It doesn't have to be an adaptation of the entire plot of an entire game. This could be a standalone story to advance the overall story. Also, I think we're missing the opportunity for this to be a movie about, say, Kairi. She's a princess of heart; it's not too great a stretch for her to be a Disney princess, too. Would it be a weird direction for Disney to take? Sure. But it wouldn't be the stupidest thing they've done.
I see a lot of people being disappointed about it possibly not being a 2D anime, but honestly ya'll underrestimate how good CGI can be utilized, Im pretty sure the show will look even better than KH3 and that already looks like an actual movies at times. I'd love to see the KH engine being used with a 100% focus on animation, I remember seeing the San fransokyo cutscene where Sora showed off to Hiro and his friends and all that went through my head was: "Holy shit KH would probably look good as a show" The choreography as well as fluidity of the animation within the cutscene were incredible, obviously those take time and can only be done rarely, or at least not as often as we'd like. A KH show on the other hand could embrace that potential, as it's not limited to being a game.

If they are to do a movie “series” then it should be 1,2 and 3 as the movies but in between have the other games be half movies or series on Disney + But hopefully it’s just a KH1 movie which will bring more people to the games and make Disney acknowledge KH way more (they could even do an original story written by Square just to make it more authentic)

If they give us more informative and it turns out Nomura isnt apart of it then thats a big sign that current fans will not enjoy this. Dont get to excited and keep your expectations lows. Disney has failed time and time again and KH will be the next thing they fumble, then they will blame the brand and its fans and the failure of the movie or show will cause Disney to take it out on the game.

They SHOULD DO IT! Just like with Sonic, I want to see a Kingdom Hearts adaptation into the big screen. Have the animation be CGI like the certain cutscenes in the game, like the beginning and ending of the games.
Yeah... The thing about a KH movie, is that I think they're more likely to just make a movie within the KH universe and have it be part of the overall series as it currently exists. It's either that, or there's no way they're getting through the first game's story in one movie. I just don't see that happening, at least not if they want it to be good. Now that said, there is one way they could do it if they want the best of both worlds. Make the movie based on the first game, but tell the story from the perspective of the Princesses of Heart. Show what happened to their worlds that caused them to need to be rescued in the first place. That would be a great addition to the overall world. Have Kairi be the conduit through a vision or dream that enables the story to be told.
If the producers of the games aren't involved in any way, especially when it comes to the plot and its characters, it's not going to end up looking pretty...
If it's just retelling of kh1 or any of the games, I don't think it's gonna work. That said, Kingdom Hearts is a franchise that has lived on breaking into new mediums. So it'll be interesting if the next part of the overall story is told in a movie format.
I'm okay with it having trilogies or something to get the story out there and well, but that's assuming they go to each world. The hard question is how would they do it without making it stale or boring or too short. Each world is its own movie so how would you give each world its respect and have them go between each one without rushing it is my only worry. As a TV show I think it'd be great, but as a movie I can't imagine how it would go.
Kingdom Hearts needs TV series now. There should be more books or T.V shows that could cover untold stories other than side games. Union X could work as a TV show that also adds other things the mobile game never added. How about a show about Terra, Aqua and Ventus? At the end of Kingdom Hearts III we see all three of them head off onto their own adventure. What about a show about their next adventure over another side game?
I think it'd be really cool if they did multiple movies and bring the disney circle of villains through the whole thing while planting seeds of Organization XIII from the beginning. And it'd be even cooler if they expand Destiny Islands from the start.

I’m just really skeptical with these kinds of adaptations. I just don’t think it would translate well on to the big screen. Final fantasy 7-10 have some of the best written fantasy stories ever told but I couldn’t never see them adapted well into a movie or show.
I would prefer a stand alone story. I feel like they could mess up so kuch adapting the games 1 to 1. Why not use that chance to give us a movie about Mobile Games lol I sure would be interestes about that + more insight of the Past Masters
I don’t think a movie would work. Kingdom Hearts works better with long form story telling. Sora interacting with each of the various worlds for a considerable amount of time builds up his friendship with the characters, and you have to factor in the original plot of the series itself Trying to fit all that into a 2 hour or so movie wouldn’t be enough. You’d end up with something like Ready Player 1 or Wreck it Ralph 2 where you see all the cameos but the main characters have extremely limited interactions with all of them. Even something like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the closet comparison and currently the longest American animated movie, had Miles visit only 3 universes along with his own in the beginning portion for total of 4. KH1 by itself features 14 worlds. Miles had meaningful interactions with about a 6-10 other Spiderpeople in the movie while all the others were there for a short while Sora had a lot more😂
Kingdom Hearts is better off 100% animated with various artistic styles of combining the east and west centering around characters from JRPG’s and American Cartoon Cinema based around the whimsical musical adaptations of beloved fairytales.
I prefer that they make a series than a film... Because given the complexity of the story overall, if let's say who adapts it for the cinema, people will understand nothing. whereas a series allows you to spread the story over its entire length but little by little. and of course a CGI series obviously. rather than live action🫡
I think if they'd do a movie, it won't involve going to any Disney worlds. It will just involve Sora helping Disney characters that lost their worlds to darkness in Traverse Town. And then Sora would go to Hollow Bastion to stop Maleficent and Riku/Ansem. Not thrilled about the thought of cutting so much, but I don't see how else it can be done without needing to be over 3 hours or split into multiple movies.
I think Kingdom Hearts would have been better as an anime too because there's more time to establish the characters and cover the worlds better and also Square Enix has a lot of Kingdom Hearts properties for their worlds as well such as Twilight Town, The World That Never was and The Dark World. I remembered once upon a time, some channel on tv was advertising a movie for Onimusha Dawn of Dreams. I was so excited till I actually watched the thing. Game cutscenes. All the way. With shitloads of ads after each one.
People saying this should not happen need to realize that whether it's good or bad, it will make someone in the fandom happy and might become their favorite piece of media from the franchise. If they did not try new things, we wouldn't have gotten games like bbs, 358/2, re:chain, re:coded and others that are loved by so many people in the fandom
Im fine with a kh movie. I think the best course of action might be getting weird about it, like telling an original, non-canon story or telling kh1 from Riku's perspectives so they dont have to worry as much about the disney worlds. That being said, id much rather have a show. If its a movie, the most realistic thing i can hope for is that it's a 6/10 movie for the fans.

You know I grew up with kingdom hearts and I flipped 🙃 when I got kh3 and and again there are a lot of games but my favorites is 1 to 3 and can't wait for 4 and honestly I feel like they deserve more than one movie if they are and if it doesn't go by the game I'm going to be mad and replaying all of it to refresh my mind from it if it's not what I am expecting cuz the game it's self is like a movie and I'll admit I cried so much through it it's much of a masterpiece to not mess with it

so i grew up playing final fantasy and kh i think this is a great idea but im afraid for it this could go 1 of 2 ways. way 1: this could add new lure to story this could end up a great movie. way 2 make it somewhat lure free but sticking to lure no good game plays like missions in kh3 i feel they will forget some things i feel we have too many alternate endings so this could go completely sour but i watched final fantasy movies and i got hope.. but i think little bits and nugets from gameplay not videos or but pure traveling trying to get somewhere i mean last of us tv show wasnt all that good and this can possobly end it because they ruin the story somehow we getting kh1 2 x anyone know i say if you did movies like games this might be a large profit and good move but 1 movie could possibly ruine future titles unreleased

Riku and sora used to fight over Kairi in kh1 . Don’t change the main premise of the first game - to kh3 . Sora is saving the princess. Gives everything to everyone else and focuses on everyone else without worrying about what happens to him, as long as his friends are safe . If they want characters to be woke , focus on the relationship between Axel and isa for that. It’s already kinda there. It makes sense. I just want them to stick to the source material. Keep tetsuya nemura in charge and over seeing the adaptation.

Yeah... The thing about a KH movie, is that I think they're more likely to just make a movie within the KH universe and have it be part of the overall series as it currently exists. It's either that, or there's no way they're getting through the first game's story in one movie. I just don't see that happening, at least not if they want it to be good.
Now that said, there is one way they could do it if they want the best of both worlds. Make the movie based on the first game, but tell the story from the perspective of the Princesses of Heart. Show what happened to their worlds that caused them to need to be rescued in the first place. That would be a great addition to the overall world. Have Kairi be the conduit through a vision or dream that enables the story to be told.

If it's just retelling of kh1 or any of the games, I don't think it's gonna work.
That said, Kingdom Hearts is a franchise that has lived on breaking into new mediums. So it'll be interesting if the next part of the overall story is told in a movie format.

i used to want a KH movie. but the way that Disney has changed, i don't want it. they'll just ruin it.
I'm okay with it having trilogies or something to get the story out there and well, but that's assuming they go to each world. The hard question is how would they do it without making it stale or boring or too short. Each world is its own movie so how would you give each world its respect and have them go between each one without rushing it is my only worry. As a TV show I think it'd be great, but as a movie I can't imagine how it would go.

Kingdom Hearts needs TV series now. There should be more books or T.V shows that could cover untold stories other than side games. Union X could work as a TV show that also adds other things the mobile game never added.
How about a show about Terra, Aqua and Ventus? At the end of Kingdom Hearts III we see all three of them head off onto their own adventure. What about a show about their next adventure over another side game?
I think it'd be really cool if they did multiple movies and bring the disney circle of villains through the whole thing while planting seeds of Organization XIII from the beginning. And it'd be even cooler if they expand Destiny Islands from the start.

To be honest I prefer if they just stick to the Manga and Games instead of making it into a movie.
I’m just really skeptical with these kinds of adaptations. I just don’t think it would translate well on to the big screen. Final fantasy 7-10 have some of the best written fantasy stories ever told but I couldn’t never see them adapted well into a movie or show.
I would prefer a stand alone story. I feel like they could mess up so kuch adapting the games 1 to 1. Why not use that chance to give us a movie about Mobile Games lol I sure would be interestes about that + more insight of the Past Masters

I don’t think a movie would work. Kingdom Hearts works better with long form story telling. Sora interacting with each of the various worlds for a considerable amount of time builds up his friendship with the characters, and you have to factor in the original plot of the series itself
Trying to fit all that into a 2 hour or so movie wouldn’t be enough. You’d end up with something like Ready Player 1 or Wreck it Ralph 2 where you see all the cameos but the main characters have extremely limited interactions with all of them.
Even something like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the closet comparison and currently the longest American animated movie, had Miles visit only 3 universes along with his own in the beginning portion for total of 4. KH1 by itself features 14 worlds. Miles had meaningful interactions with about a 6-10 other Spiderpeople in the movie while all the others were there for a short while Sora had a lot more😂
Kingdom Hearts is better off 100% animated with various artistic styles of combining the east and west centering around characters from JRPG’s and American Cartoon Cinema based around the whimsical musical adaptations of beloved fairytales.
I prefer that they make a series than a film... Because given the complexity of the story overall, if let's say who adapts it for the cinema, people will understand nothing. whereas a series allows you to spread the story over its entire length but little by little.
and of course a CGI series obviously. rather than live action🫡
I think if they'd do a movie, it won't involve going to any Disney worlds. It will just involve Sora helping Disney characters that lost their worlds to darkness in Traverse Town.
And then Sora would go to Hollow Bastion to stop Maleficent and Riku/Ansem.
Not thrilled about the thought of cutting so much, but I don't see how else it can be done without needing to be over 3 hours or split into multiple movies.

I think Kingdom Hearts would have been better as an anime too because there's more time to establish the characters and cover the worlds better and also Square Enix has a lot of Kingdom Hearts properties for their worlds as well such as Twilight Town, The World That Never was and The Dark World. Im fine with a kh movie. I think the best course of action might be getting weird about it, like telling an original, non-canon story or telling kh1 from Riku's perspectives so they dont have to worry as much about the disney worlds. That being said, id much rather have a show. If its a movie, the most realistic thing i can hope for is that it's a 6/10 movie for the fans.

You know I grew up with kingdom hearts and I flipped 🙃 when I got kh3 and and again there are a lot of games but my favorites is 1 to 3 and can't wait for 4 and honestly I feel like they deserve more than one movie if they are and if it doesn't go by the game I'm going to be mad and replaying all of it to refresh my mind from it if it's not what I am expecting cuz the game it's self is like a movie and I'll admit I cried so much through it it's much of a masterpiece to not mess with it
Kingdom Hearts would work far better as an animated series but if you want to make it live action, I’d rather it be a live action series than a movie. There are way too many characters and worlds as many people have pointed out already. Really hope they don’t kill this series like the witcher or warhammer.
I hope it’s a original story because if you try to adapt one of the games into a movie. You would get a movie that’s just short retellings of different movies. Which sounds plainly awful

so i grew up playing final fantasy and kh i think this is a great idea but im afraid for it this could go 1 of 2 ways. way 1: this could add new lure to story this could end up a great movie. way 2 make it somewhat lure free but sticking to lure no good game plays like missions in kh3 i feel they will forget some things i feel we have too many alternate endings so this could go completely sour but i watched final fantasy movies and i got hope.. but i think little bits and nugets from gameplay not videos or but pure traveling trying to get somewhere i mean last of us tv show wasnt all that good and this can possobly end it because they ruin the story somehow we getting kh1 2 x anyone know i say if you did movies like games this might be a large profit and good move but 1 movie could possibly ruine future titles unreleased

Don’t change the main premise of the first game - to kh3 . Sora is saving the princess. Gives everything to everyone else and focuses on everyone else without worrying about what happens to him, as long as his friends are safe .
If they want characters to be woke , focus on the relationship between Axel and isa for that. It’s already kinda there. It makes sense. I just want them to stick to the source material. Keep tetsuya nemura in charge and over seeing the adaptation.
