"They're going to keep calling housekeepers until they find one that's interested in them." This was an excellent piece of knowledge you just gave your viewers. You do not have to be the lowest price if you are the one they see as the best fit. I'm so glad I found your channel!
I love the simple service industries for getting people out of poverty. I started with yard work (not landscaping), which is basically maid service for the outside. That's how I describe it to people on bids. If you learn as you go, the simple services can provide you with a world class business education. And a great life, both now, and in our golden years!
I'm about to start a house cleaning business and by watching your channel, I feel like there's so much more information that I don't know, and you're doing your best to get me prepared. I am so grateful for the time you take to create these videos; the orderliness, the presentation, the articulation, and the information itself, everything is just perfect 👌. Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement and support. I really appreciate your feedback. And welcome to the wonderful word of house cleaning. I'm super excited you're here. :-)
👍🏻This is good advice ! And in my experience, as the cleaner, I don't want to ever give a quote until I know all the details, because I could underquote myself and end up with a lot of work and less $$. Plus, one does have to be careful of cheapskates( the ones who say: you don't have to do this, or just ignore that, only do just this-that can be a warning sign) Sometimes the customer is really only interested in getting a bargain. I learned the hard way 😆😆
Great points. Thanks for sharing. You're right, it's better to know all the details before quoting a price and guaranteeing the work. It will keep you from making costly mistakes.
Hello Angela, I have had my own cleaning buisness for about 6 months I'm pretty new. Your videos have helped me so much, you are amazing! Thank You so much!
So happy to have found your channel. The past several videos I watched I can apply these principles to my own business even though it's not cleaning. Thank you.
OMG! I just gave a price for a 5 br 5 1/2 bth.yesterday.She wants the whole house clean paying only 15 dls by hr and the job done in 5hrs. 75 dls for a 6000 sq ft!!!!😡Unfortunately some people want to take advantage from others.
Norma R i been cleaning for almost 30 years and I have see alot housekeeper is a very hard work and people don't know or play they don't.if we are in this bussnes we sure never work for less you don't have to if we all respond the same the clients will accept it because they won't fine people who take that abuse we have the power let start useing it😉
Isabel Hernandez You’re absolutely correct!. I said unfortunately some people want to take advantage from others. But “ fortunately “ I’m very respecful of my work been honest, puntual and very hard working! I just have 7 years in this business and actually trying to grow my business Always offering to my costumers a high quality service expecting the pay that we deserve.
I always establish my prices based on what it would take to do every little thing they could possibly ask for. Instead of them asking for more, and the price going up, they ask if this or that can be done, and we simply include it.
This is all strange to me. I have never, ever had anyone call to have their house piecemealed out in this way and I never give a quote over the phone. When they want me to clean, they almost always want me to clean all of it. Occasionally, they may say something hasn’t been touched and they just wanted to be lightly dusted or they may ask to switch out tasks from time to time. But when they call for a quote, we ask how many square feet, how many bedrooms, how many bathrooms, and what areas they do and do not want us to clean. We then set up an appointment to do a walk-through, decide if we want them as a client, make a task list with them, and give him a quote based on how many hours it’s likely to take. Then we essentially charge them by the hour. That way, if they want us to stay longer, have additional tasks or if the house is particularly dirty/messy then they pay for that extra time. Those who can afford it are willing to pay for us to take care of all of the mess, but others tidy up before we get there because they don’t wanna waste a cent.
I have really enjoyed these videos. I have been doing this business for 20 years and I didn't have all of this valuable information when I started. I feel really good that most everything that you have taught....I already do. That is not arrogance talking......mine was learned as I went along, but these videos will save some folks that are starting out a lot of time. Good job.
Although I do agree with the questions and the writing every detail down, as a Customer, this is all about SALES PITCH TACTICS and UPSELLING. Very few things annoy me more, as the Customer. As the Customer, I would rather spend that time creating an estimate of the total TIME it will take. The price should be a flat dollars-per-hour per maid - easy for me to price compare. If you want to stand out, do so by the QUALITY of the work. That's ALL the customers care about. Quality of work and dollars per hour. Avoiding those topics simply ANNOYS the potential Customer to no end.
$30 is a little low, the industry standard is about $40 per $100 earned. The reason for this is the overhead of running a business. Taxes in the USA are around 30% so from every dollar earned you're starting your business at $70. Pay the cleaner $40 and you have $30 left for advertising, marketing, legal and professional fees, trademarks, annual reports, computer equipment, web hosting, domain name registration, search engine optimization, website maintenance, image licensing (for marketing and social media), social media management, graphic design, internet service, research, and development, recruiting, training, payroll, accounting, cleaning supplies (degreasers, detergents, acids,) breakage and damages, re-cleans, cleaning equipment (vacuums, mops, dusters, scrub brushes, sponges,) equipment repair and inventory, vehicles, vehicle insurance, vehicle service, fuel, vehicle tax, vehicle registration and inspections, liability insurance, workers compensation, phone service, business listings, and so much more. There is a hefty cost to running a business, and in the cleaning industry, the profit margins are really low. If you can get a job that allows you to keep $30 to $40 for every dollar the company brings in - you may be better off being the employee than the business owner. Just food for thought.
yeah like handy! I did a job for them once for $96, The job was supposed to be 4 or 5 hours. When I showed up the owners were a old couple in there late 60s they asked where the rest of my crew was, I told him it's just me. They were freaked out because they had sold the house and needed it to be ready for the new owners the next evening. I couldn't do the entire house in that time period so they paid me extra to stay a couple more hours. When I got to talking to the wife she told me they paid almost $400 for this job!!! They were expecting a crew and I was only making $96 for the job! I was so upset, they ended up hiring me as their house cleaner for their new home, at least something good came out of it.
Here is a video on business licenses: ua-cam.com/video/Jy36z2mIkhU/v-deo.html. Also, here is a video on insurance and bonding: ua-cam.com/video/tutviTeViQo/v-deo.html I hope these videos help : )
I never give a price by phone or text. Even when I've gotten pics, they never tell the real story of the house. My price is 100% contingent on the condition of the house. Moldy tile, messy kid bathroom fixtures, handprints all over kitchen cabinets, pet houses, etc. all take more effort and time and product to clean, and are priced accordingly.
Thanks for sharing your approach! I completely agree-pictures don’t always show the full extent of what needs to be cleaned. Pricing based on the actual condition of the house makes perfect sense, especially when extra effort and products are needed for tougher areas like moldy tiles or pet spaces. It’s all about providing a fair and thorough service!
Determining how much to charge for laundry services can depend on various factors such as your location, market rates, and the level of service you provide. It's important to research the local market to get an idea of the prevailing rates in your area. Consider factors such as the cost of utilities, detergent, and labor when setting your pricing structure. Additionally, you may want to factor in the time and effort required for washing and folding each load, as well as any special requests or additional services that customers may require. It's a good idea to offer different pricing options based on the size of the load or any additional services provided, such as ironing or stain removal. Ultimately, finding the right balance between competitive pricing and ensuring your services are profitable for your business is key. Hope this helps.
I just made you a video to answer this question. It will be out in the next two weeks. The short answer is that you have to ask the questions because if you don't, you won't have a deal. The customer won't have faith in your credibility. The questions let the customer know you know what you are doing, and the answers let you know how to do your job.
@@AskAngelaBrown thanks for that and i look forward to it....If the customer and we are both in the same boat it will be good but if they are not then its crazy because there are some impatient customers who cant be bothered to sit and answer soooo many questions...but just want to get along with the quote and the job...
Hi Angela! I'm staring to clean on my own... I don't have a license or insurance yet, I'm planning to get them as soon as possible in the meantime I would like to know how much to charge by hour? I am between $25 to $30 sometimes I feel intimidated because I have no license or insurance to charge these amounts. I think it's a fair amount by the hour, but I would like to get pay more in the future. I'm working on how to get pay by the job. Thank you for your time, I love all your videos ❤️
That price is fair... if not a tad low... If you charge less you will not be able to obtain the license and insurance. You have a finite amount of time you can do this work. You are exposed to chemicals. You are hard on your joints, you may be kneeling and having repetitive motions. Just make sure your work reflects the value you provide.
Welcome! The cost can vary based on your location and specific needs. I recommend calling a few local cleaning companies to compare prices in your area
I set the expectation of what it is we can do in the time given in each home. Every house isn’t the same size , shape , and every home isn’t the same with dirty , organizing and cleaning is not the same in each home. I can give example : I remember a lady want me to clean 5 rooms. And 4 bathrooms and do a deep cleaning all over the house for 3 hrs. And it took a long time. I needed at least 5 hours. She was upset I didn’t finish!’ She and the family was there had a bad attitude. Telling HOW to clean. And I did an excellent job. Her husband was aggressive towards me and told me to leave NOW and he will call the police. It wasn’t that serious. He want me to finish in the time “THEY GAVE”….. And I was under paid. It was said they didn’t trust me to do the work. And then was rude. I still took photos to prove I did the work and I can’t believe they would say. “If you don’t hurry up and leave (even if they hired me to come). They would call the police “? Like . I don’t just stay. I go and have to pack all my equipment up and they don’t want to give you time to do that. And then say. “Leave now or imma call the cops”. Whoa!! At this point. I feel frustrated and want to leave this type of job. I have experience this 2 times. But out the 90 times. I haven’t. So I keep going. I just can’t believe this happens in this residential cleaning industry. So now I want to do other cleaning as well besides just residential. I am experiencing new things with this business. I am blessed to witness these things and safety is important. If any activity in the homes that doesn’t make you feel comfortable , PLEASE LEAVE. All money isn’t good money. & I seen and witness a lot of things in the small time of having this cleaning business I don’t talk about. I do my best. And it’s more than just cleaning for me. It’s more to see the clients happy and smiling and loving the work I share. It’s more of a challenge & home care for me. I put love ❤️ into my work. I just don’t like feeling that I sometimes leave with grief of not pleasing everyone. Some things is just not feasible. 🤷🏾♀️. Especially with them asking for it to be cheaper … and it’s already Cheap as dirt. & they pay another company more money in less time. Just want to share my experience and heartache with this journey as well as a blessing. To those who asks me “how is it”. This far is how it’s been. I pray it becomes more than just this. Because I do want to become more successful in my Career/ Small Business.
Greta video thank you!! 1:59 Are those 5 bedrooms or 5 rooms total in the house? Are all 5 occupied right now used in a regular basis? Sleeping every night, bedding, clothes, shoes or a music room, office etc? Before I give you a price for the 5 rooms, does each bedroom have a bathroom? Are you including that in the clean or does someone else do that for you? Same ques...bathrooms used every day? Hair clogging Rotate Make sure, so no surprises Dusting? Wiping down furniture? Tell me about the kitchen...constant state of use or want us to budget in time and money to do the kitchen top to bottom? How many sq feet in the house by the way? I want to make sure I'm not budgeting for a 2500 sq ft house if Its a 10,00p sq ft house.
I know right? So many house cleaners have been tricked into giving a quote only to find out that the house doesn't match the specs quoted. Ask More Questions! :-)
I will within reason however if it’s a bit much I do not.. I always say us cleaners would rather dirt than clutter…we can clean dirt we don’t know what to do with clutter lol
Brenda, It’s best to discuss this with the cleaner during the walkthrough. If you want the toys picked up the cleaner needs to include that time in their estimate so they know how long they will be at your house and how much to charge you.
Antoinette, check out the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser: www.mrclean.com/en-us/shop-products/magic-erasers/magic-eraser-original This site will give you more information on what you can use the Magic Eraser on and if it’s the right tool for your cleaning project.
This is a great approach for solo cleaners, but to be honest, if i need something done around my home, i literally just want a price and a portfolio. I don't want to be on the phone all day with vendors and have to spend time doing an in home estimate
I'm not crazy about in-home estimates, either, but there's a critical reason for doing them. How much square footage is involved? Are the occupants slobs, or are they neat and tidy? Are the occupants minimalists, or are they maximalist? It can make a difference between a two-hour easy job or a two-day difficult job.
An in home estimate is very important. It's only guessing until you see the house. Some people just lie, don't say how things really are in their house.
That's why I like to charge hourly 👍 it really doesn't matter what happens when I get to the site - it could be an absolute mess or already sparkling, 1 BR or 5 maybe 1 bathroom or 3, and then I (and client) don't care in many ways if it takes 2 hours or 7, I get paid for exactly what I do. Plus, if I get sick or have an emergency and have to leave early, or I forgot to do a bathroom hidden in a weird closet attached to another bathroom - then the client wasn't charged for what wasn't done. If they decide to add in "oh can you dust everything I own?" at the last-minute sure no problem! So, there's no need for refunds or complaints in that regard either. If I bring in an employee I charge "per person" too (if 2 people come, then the job takes half the time - same cost in theory as if I came alone). In reality, 2 people tends to take a little LESS than half the time so customers still actually save so not much room for complaints there either. I feel it's simple and it works. Easy to calculate profit too - the difference between the clients rate and the employee's cost is how much I make. It all works out!
I don’t trust myself to bid a job either, it seems it always takes longer than I think it will and it’s hard for me to walk by something that needs done but if it wasn’t in my bid I have to leave it, by the hour I can do it. Maybe one day I can’t think like Angela, because she is good !
I once cleaned a house and the owner rented out for a ball games and such like a hotel. 4 beds 3 full bathrooms rooms 7 beds. I ask $200.00. They wanted to pay only $150.00 and I had someone helping me clean it. With 2 people it took all day and they thought $200.00 was to much. We washed all bed clothes and towels and made beds back up got rooms ready for next guess plus all the other cleaning I see now $200.00 was really cheap. I asked other house cleaners what they would charge they said no less than $300.00. Do you think I was unreasonable.
You were not unreasonable and definitely could've charged more. If you are unsure ask or compare prices of what other companies may charged for the same service.
I just did a walk through yesterday wth the owner of the office I clean at. She wants me to clean her house and her dad's. We didn't go over prices and I'm not sure what to charge. Her home is about 1600sq ft, 2 bedroom, 2 baths with 2 showers, 1 tub, small kitchen, living room, dining room, laundry room, 4 cats. Second home is 1 bedroom, 11/2 baths, kitchen, 2 living rooms full of collectibles he wants cleaned.
Oddly enough the smaller house with the collectibles may take longer to clean. Here's a video I did on the reasons why ua-cam.com/video/OM31727VRwM/v-deo.html
Hello Angela I love your videos !!!! I have a question how much I can charge for an office? They want the service weekly help please I live in California.
Lily, Thanks so much for leaving a comment. Have you done a walkthrough of the office? There are many questions you will need answers to including, how large is the space, what are the expectations, does it include a kitchen area and bathroom?
Great ideas, but there was no dollar figure, is the work based on "per hour", or "per job", or "per room". I always did by the hour, and told them I'm also probably the fastest worker they have ever seen. And then I tackle the dirtiest job first - usually that's a master bathroom shower!
Hello Angela, When is it okay to choose to switch from a flat rate to hourly, after you have done a job. I offered both, the client went with the flat,. The job took 2 hours less than it would have cost them hourly.
Once you've given a customer a price and they've agreed to it - it is ethical and wise to honor that price. If you change your pricing AFTER the job has been accepted you're bound to create some enemies. If they hire you back for another cleaning it is probably based on the original price they paid. So if you are going to change your pricing structure, it's best to do another walkthrough and explain what is different that justifies switching the payment plan on them.
Perhaps, but wouldn't you get tired if you gave a price over the phone and then got to the job and found the job was severely misrepresented and you had underbid by two thirds of the price and had committed to doing for the price you quoted?
I do cleaning business on a side. I have 2 clients only. I always feel that I am not paid enough. So one day, I told one client 200 dollars. And they seem not happy about it. But I do not care if they will call me again or not. It is very demanding job. I am needing a surgery for CTS. I do not think I overprice them. She has a big house. 3 bedrooms (master bedroom, son’s room, guest room) and 1 office room. They have 2 bathrooms and 1 powder room. Plus kitchen and living room. Laundry room and she wanted me to include the back porch and garage. It took me 6-8 hours cleaning and me asking 200 is too much? I came home aching from head to toe, It is not worth it. They only gave me 110 before. So pricing right upfront is really vital if you started cleaning business. Do not expect they will pay you right because of your hardwork. They will not know and feel your hardship. All they know is it is easy job and you ask too much!
Hi thank you so much for all your videos I learn a lot and I just feel stuck sometimes because there is a lot to learn on pricing for years I have cleaned houses part time and I’ve been doing it since I was a little girl with my mom now I’m 48 and I still have a hard time doing pricing I can look at the house and give a price but they have a hard time saying oh I’m gonna charge this much for that I’m gonna charge this much for that it’s a lot and I wish I could get better at that so today I went to go see a three bedroom two bathroom house and it’s one person that lives in there and two cats and the house hasn’t been cleaned for a long time it’s very dusty there are some spiderwebs on some things the windows and shades are dusty and it’s a three bedroom two bath 2500 ft.² and I was just thinking of telling him I would do it $35 an hour what do you think about that otherwise I would charge 560 for a deep clean one time
If you charge $35 and hour and do a deep clean that takes you 6 hours that's $210. Would you let the deep clean go at that price. Is it worth it to you?
+Pa. Fish Preacher No not really. We break cleaning down into maintenance cleaning, deep cleaning, and special projects. Every type of job has its own cleaning kit. We do more of this in our paid training over at savvycleaner.com
Good morning. It's me with all the questions. Do you have or know where we can get a check list of pertinent questions to ask when a client calls? I get a lot of calls through a property management company for turnover cleaning so there is always different circumstances for the cleaning. I used to charge by square footage and give a window between this and that for clients but I feel like I'm losing one out of six clients because I'm giving a higher price then the other company. I already asked them do you need Windows, insides of appliances, do you have pets? I just really hate working by the hour but in order to save a sale I tend to fall back on an hourly rate for clients seem to cringe at the square footage rate that I give. It doesn't happen often and there are times when I go into the turnover clean and actually charge the client 50 or $60 less than I quoted because it wasn't as much work as what I put in my mind that it would be. Anyway, thank you as always for your great information
Love Life I just charge per room or per hour! In every room I do carpet cleaning, dust removal, disinfectant & the price starts from $50... per room! Don’t be too low on your price!
Thanks so much for watching the show. If you are interested, Savvy Cleaner training has courses for house cleaners including one on how to ace the walkthrough. Check it out: SavvyCleaner.com
What if someone just wants a guesstimate to see if this is actually an option. When I think 5 rooms, I would assume 5 rooms total (not just bedrooms). So what would 2 average size bedroom's, one small bath, one small kitchen, and one small living room cost?
How dirty or clean is the kitchen? Bathrooms or Bedrooms? How many people live in the space?/ Are there animals or just people? There are still questions to determine the scope of work. A single business professional (gone all the time) with no pets lives a different life than 2 college frat boys in the same space with a shedding dog. Does that make sense?
@@AskAngelaBrown kitchen is fairly dirty but more cluttered. Bathroom is semi clean. Bedrooms are dirty and cluttered. No pets, but maybe a couple of mice I'm working on trapping. Just two people living in this residential house. Both have jobs. Home at night.
I clean a house every week it has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. I clean the entire house upstairs and down. I clean all sheets and bedding every week, dust, mop, clean all bathrooms toilets and showers. I do the vacuuming and take out all trash. I clean the laundry room. Clean down the appliances and washer and dryer. I have a flat rate of 100.00. Am I selling myself short? This house on one floor is approximately 1200 square ft.
Without seeing the house it’s hard for other people to tell if you are undercharging. If you are there weekly, each week should be a maintenance clean so the dirt and dust buildup should be minimal.
You are a solo cleaner (for now) and they should understand that they will see just you cleaning their home. In the future, if you decide to expand your business and hire help then you will need to discuss this with your clients. Good luck!
Pro-tip. You should know the real square footage of the house. If you look up the house on Zillow, it will have the sq footage listed there even if the house is not currently for sale. Try it with you own address right now.... Most homeowners get this info incorrect.
My name is ahmed i live in Uk, I have been watching your video for one week, i am very impressed your excellent experience of cleaning Business, and great communication ideas about cleaning business. I just start my cleaning business yesterday and I'm very struggling how to give the price. My first costumer I charged her for $50 . For one bedroom apartment so I'm not sure if it a good priced. I hope someone can help me here to give me a estimate. Tomorrow I have 3 bedroom and 3 bathroom and I'm not sure how to charge him

Rose Mary 50$ is not enough you should set yourself minimum price and not go any lower no matter how small the job is....90$ is the least you should charge for apartment.
I have several videos on furniture polish. It is hard for me to know what type of wooden furniture you have without seeing it. Here is a link to one of the videos: ua-cam.com/video/PJStcWBjIik/v-deo.html I hope it helps : )
Some rates are currently going at $40-$50 per hour, per cleaner. The cost of cleaning depends on the size of the home, type of cleaning and the area that you live in. Check your are for current rates and compare prices.
I know how I’m going to call my next novel: From a “simple maid” to an FBI investigator 😂😂😂😂 Listen lady if I’m a potential client and you start asking me all those questions it would scare me away 😂😂😂😂😂 I completely understand the reasons behind all those questions and of course is to be as fair as possible in the prices but.. it is..practical?
did I overcharge if charged 700 for a 5000 square-foot I did laundry inside the refrigerator wash all 5 room bedding and put them back on I was there from 8 o’clock in the morning till 830 at night and still was not finish laundry because I also did laundry??
You put way to much time at this one job The price you charged was fair......but your time was not managed properly Use quick wash cycle.....an smaller loads drying......its more about time an how u manage it
This my gripe. I just want to do the job. A great job. I want to leave your house as a clean and sanitized as a hospital room, but that's it! I don't care about knowing your pets, your kids, your wife, or husband. I just want to do a good job, get fairly paid and leave. If you want me back, fine, but I don't want a friendship, relationship or conversation. Just the job and remuneration for my labor!
Hi. 🤗 I think it would depend on your level of comfort. Some may be fine with a phone call quote while others prefer in person. Thanks for adding to the conversation, great question! 🙂
If you are an employee, ask your employer when you are up for an evaluation and consideration for a raise. It will put them on the alert that you are ready to be promoted.
Excuse my typing. Oops I prayed ... Just today He gave me a tip ...Amen He knows I do more than my Share.... And Bummer ... Guest never leave TIPS .... AYYYYYYYY LOL
I think it’s good to have a conversation and I completely understand how this is helpful, but as a consumer (and a person in charge of vendors), I’d just like a rate estimate because I don’t have a lot of time. I love the advice on this channel, but this conversation would annoy me. 😂
I am subscribed because I am a homeowner who has gone through so many housekeepers. I am learning so much. I will tell you 💯 that I would be blown away if any of those ladies had asked me half of those questions. Customers do love questions. It lets us know that you are serious about your work and that you are looking for an ethical partnership. 😊
Too many questions but you gotta ask them cause people don’t know how to explain or they don’t want to make it seem like there is a lot of cleaning to do in their homes.
Do you own a cleaning business? Then you need to learn how much to charge for house cleaning so you don't leave money on the table and get outbid by your competitors. Check out this playlist of similar videos we made on price, pricing & bidding. More expert info.

Great advice about having others more invested into the conversation instead of just instantly throwing out a quote.
How do you code the price for a 5 bedroom or a 4 bedroom or a 3 bedrooms can you please give me a breakdown
I've been cleaning homes, offices and other building for 30 years... This is good information... Thank you Angela... For your tips... Love them
Thanks so much for watching my video : )
When people ask me why I cannot give them a quote over the phone, I am going to refer them to this video.
Thank you! Feel free to share anytime.🙂
You are such a great teacher….. for both the person hiring and for the housecleaner!
Wow, thank you so much!
Hello Angela, I have had my own cleaning buisness for about 6 months I'm pretty new. Your videos have helped me so much, you are amazing! Thank You so much!
You are so kind to write such a nice comment. 🤗
So happy to have found your channel. The past several videos I watched I can apply these principles to my own business even though it's not cleaning. Thank you.
That’s great news, I wish you the best of luck!
She nutso....Bye Felicia! lols
did you make sure to take a dump in each of those rooms?.. their house is so big, but they only want to cash out 75 bucks? uh...
Shame on her! Shame shame shame!!😣
I always establish my prices based on what it would take to do every little thing they could possibly ask for. Instead of them asking for more, and the price going up, they ask if this or that can be done, and we simply include it.
Thank you for sharing your method.
Yes, this is a great system and one that runs smoothly when executed this way. Thanks for sharing. :-)
Yep I agree with you 100%! Everything you said is what I do exactly!
You're such a great teacher. Thanks again for another awesome lesson
Thank you so much for leaving such a nice comment. 🤗
Good job.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this comment. I appreciate it! 🤗
Thank you so much, this really helps a lot, I've been in the cleaning business for 5 years, I've watched all your videos and you give the best advice😊
You are so welcome! This is great to hear. Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback. 😊
Brilliant! Thanks for reminding me that this approach works for everything and everyone. Somehow I'd forgotten...
This was an awesome video, & learned a ton about answering customer questions, to generate a better quote for cleaning, thanks!
You are so welcome, glad it was helpful!
Thanks for your honest input! Communication is key.
The up sale is because a housekeeper doesn't usually do a refrigerator for example In the job description. So they would charge extra.
Stay away from companies that are charging the client $100 and paying the cleaner $30
"Most bedrooms don't live in a house by themselve..."
Lol.
How you said that with a straight face😂
😂😂😂 Right?
If a client get a pet in the house after giving then a price for the work should I charged more??
Angela I do clean house in the weekend I charge $35. an hour. question do I need to have cleaning license or certificate
Here is a video on business licenses: ua-cam.com/video/Jy36z2mIkhU/v-deo.html.
Also, here is a video on insurance and bonding: ua-cam.com/video/tutviTeViQo/v-deo.html
I hope these videos help : )
How much should I charge for doing laundry (washing & folding) per load?
So how much do I charge? I need an estimate what if I charge to much or to little? What can we go based off?
If you are new to cleaning homes and have trouble estimating I recommend charging by the hour. 👍
Excellent video - it's all in the clarification & communication.
I like to go in and give a free quote vs. Over the phone. Is easier for me and the client, and I can also ask what their needs are etc.
Yes!! In person you can see things. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it!
what happens if some customers dont have the patience to sit and answer all the questions we are asking? how do we deal with them?
Thank you miss Angela, in NIGERIA how much is the cost of 5&3 Rooms because am confused
I'm sorry you've had some unsettling experiences. Love your desire to be more successful! 🙌 Thank you for joining the conversation. 🤗
Greta video thank you!!

Are those 5 bedrooms or 5 rooms total in the house?
Are all 5 occupied right now used in a regular basis? Sleeping every night, bedding, clothes, shoes or a music room, office etc?
Before I give you a price for the 5 rooms, does each bedroom have a bathroom? Are you including that in the clean or does someone else do that for you?
Same ques...bathrooms used every day?
Hair clogging
Rotate
Make sure, so no surprises
Dusting?
Wiping down furniture?
Tell me about the kitchen...constant state of use or want us to budget in time and money to do the kitchen top to bottom?
How many sq feet in the house by the way? I want to make sure I'm not budgeting for a 2500 sq ft house if Its a 10,00p sq ft house.
I know right? So many house cleaners have been tricked into giving a quote only to find out that the house doesn't match the specs quoted. Ask More Questions! :-)
I love the last part:
"please sell me your house cleaning services"
It's a good way to get into the right mentality 🙌
Agreed! Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
@@AskAngelaBrown Thank you! 😊
Do house cleaners expect to clear up clutter clothes toys and general counter and sink mess or just sweep mop dust vac ?
In my experience, maids and housekeepers do. But house cleaners normally just do the heavy duty cleaning not picking up and organizing side as well.
If I have to clean clutter it takes away from cleaning time. That's what I tell customers
Hello Angela I love your videos. I do have a question for you. How to get spots off of a wall that has flat paint on it?
Antoinette, check out the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser: www.mrclean.com/en-us/shop-products/magic-erasers/magic-eraser-original
This site will give you more information on what you can use the Magic Eraser on and if it’s the right tool for your cleaning project.
This is a great approach for solo cleaners, but to be honest, if i need something done around my home, i literally just want a price and a portfolio. I don't want to be on the phone all day with vendors and have to spend time doing an in home estimate
I value and appreciate you sharing your opinion on this topic. 👍
I always do a walk through before giving a price.
Thanks for watching! I always do a walk-through to provide an accurate quote!
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch the show and leave a comment.
I meant 4bedroom house with 7 beds
You were very cheap. Step up the price.
Love this information..I’m learning every single day something new….
So glad! Thank you for your feedback and for watching the video!

What about kitchen living only in s apt
Thanks so much for watching the show. Have you done a walkthrough of the apartment rooms the client wants you to clean?
Thank you👍 for sharing your system and what works for you. 🙂
Hello Angela,
When is it okay to choose to switch from a flat rate to hourly, after you have done a job.
You rock 🎸. So glad I found you!
Awesome! Thank you! Rock on!! 🙌
thank you so much ! but wouldn't they get tired of all those questions and hang up ? lol
Perhaps, but wouldn't you get tired if you gave a price over the phone and then got to the job and found the job was severely misrepresented and you had underbid by two thirds of the price and had committed to doing for the price you quoted?
@@AskAngelaBrown Yes. Like those who call for a maintenance but are really doing a move out.
That's crazy let them pay upfront next tike or let them go.
Oh no, I am sorry that you have to have surgery. Sending prayers. 🙏
Thank you!!🎉🎉
Any time!👍
Hi thank you so much for all your videos I learn a lot and I just feel stuck sometimes because there is a lot to learn on pricing for years I have cleaned houses part time and I’ve been doing it since I was a little girl with my mom now I’m 48 and I still have a hard time doing pricing I can look at the house and give a price but they have a hard time saying oh I’m gonna charge this much for that I’m gonna charge this much for that it’s a lot and I wish I could get better at that so today I went to go see a three bedroom two bathroom house and it’s one person that lives in there and two cats and the house hasn’t been cleaned for a long time it’s very dusty there are some spiderwebs on some things the windows and shades are dusty and it’s a three bedroom two bath 2500 ft.² and I was just thinking of telling him I would do it $35 an hour what do you think about that otherwise I would charge 560 for a deep clean one time
If you charge $35 and hour and do a deep clean that takes you 6 hours that's $210. Would you let the deep clean go at that price. Is it worth it to you?
Good advice thanks
Thank you for your feedback and thanks for watching. 🙂
Mrs Angela if you a house cleaner you have to fixe the bed 🛌 too ???
Yes, here's a link to my cleaning checklist. savvycleaner.com/worksheets/

How much your charge for two rooms one kitchen two bathrooms
We have dozens of videos on pricing jobs, but the price depends on a variety of factors specific to the home and the family that live there.
Pretty sure they hung up after question 2 lol
Thanks for commenting!

Wow great advice 👏🌹
Thanks for the kind words!😍😍😍
Is it a problem to say I will give you a price range and then if they ask for the range and set the appointment and you realize you quoted too low?
An estimate is just that, an estimate. You will not know a firm price until you do the walkthrough. Good luck : )
So inspired by these videos!!
Thanks for watching and for your kind words. You just made my day. :-)
This video was amazingly helpful! Thank you so much !!!
I appreciate you watching my video. ❤️
Yes. I was just quoted 300$ for 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a kitchen
Yes you are selling yourself short. Charge at least $250 for that house
Without seeing the house it’s hard for other people to tell if you are undercharging. If you are there weekly, each week should be a maintenance clean so the dirt and dust buildup should be minimal.
@@AskAngelaBrown I understand however it's more than that. I clean up toys or whatever they have laying around. Plus the regular duties.
I have a good question Angela! Will customers ever complain about only ONE person coming to a home?? I own a cleaning business but its only me!
You are a solo cleaner (for now) and they should understand that they will see just you cleaning their home. In the future, if you decide to expand your business and hire help then you will need to discuss this with your clients. Good luck!
I did it alone for years. No issues with my customers.
Always look first! Great video!
Pro-tip. You should know the real square footage of the house. If you look up the house on Zillow, it will have the sq footage listed there even if the house is not currently for sale. Try it with you own address right now.... Most homeowners get this info incorrect.
Good tip, thank you for sharing it here. 👍

Rose Mary 50$ is not enough you should set yourself minimum price and not go any lower no matter how small the job is....90$ is the least you should charge for apartment.
I’m in Philadelphia and we average 130-140 for 1 bedrooms.
I changed $ 25 hr depending how much $ they want to spend on the house

How to clean the wooden furniture
I have several videos on furniture polish. It is hard for me to know what type of wooden furniture you have without seeing it. Here is a link to one of the videos: ua-cam.com/video/PJStcWBjIik/v-deo.html
I hope it helps : )
How much ?
Some rates are currently going at $40-$50 per hour, per cleaner. The cost of cleaning depends on the size of the home, type of cleaning and the area that you live in. Check your are for current rates and compare prices.
So awesome 🌟🙏
Thank you 🙌

How many hours does it take you to clean a 3 bedroom?

Where are u located?
Charlotte NC, USA
I know how I’m going to call my next novel: From a “simple maid” to an FBI investigator 😂😂😂😂
Listen lady if I’m a potential client and you start asking me all those questions it would scare me away 😂😂😂😂😂 I completely understand the reasons behind all those questions and of course is to be as fair as possible in the prices but.. it is..practical?
All these questions are necessary to make sure a cleaner gives you the best deal possible based on what you really need
did I overcharge if charged 700 for a 5000 square-foot I did laundry inside the refrigerator wash all 5 room bedding and put them back on I was there from 8 o’clock in the morning till 830 at night and still was not finish laundry because I also did laundry??
Olga SerpA no that sounds fair , but you were lucky that they paid you that !
You put way to much time at this one job
The price you charged was fair......but your time was not managed properly
Use quick wash cycle.....an smaller loads drying......its more about time an how u manage it
700 in one day ?
It sounds like you did a lot of work. Did the clients complain about the price?
This my gripe. I just want to do the job. A great job. I want to leave your house as a clean and sanitized as a hospital room, but that's it! I don't care about knowing your pets, your kids, your wife, or husband. I just want to do a good job, get fairly paid and leave. If you want me back, fine, but I don't want a friendship, relationship or conversation. Just the job and remuneration for my labor!
There you go. A cleaner on purpose. I love this. Thanks for sharing. 💛
Would you accept photos during a phone call quote? Instead of going in person?
Hi. 🤗 I think it would depend on your level of comfort. Some may be fine with a phone call quote while others prefer in person. Thanks for adding to the conversation, great question! 🙂
People never want to pay full price. They think we the cleaners are cheep....
Ugh! Sorry about that. It can be frustrating.
How much is Clean out 5 rooms
How big are the rooms? How many are in active use? Are there bathrooms connected to the bedrooms? I need more information.
I guess i'm over priced, because I charge high high and people pay pay 💰
If people are paying you're not overpriced. And if you're not getting callbacks, then you're providing the value to go with it. High Five!
How much do you charge! I was told I’m over priced too.
I really need a raise ...
He us raking advantage of ME
If you are an employee, ask your employer when you are up for an evaluation and consideration for a raise. It will put them on the alert that you are ready to be promoted.
Excuse my typing. Oops

LOL. Right on...and that includes what?
Wow! That was great advice! 😊
Thanks for your feedback and thank you for watching the video.😊
Very helpful!!
Thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to drop me a line. I appreciate you. :-)
I think it’s good to have a conversation and I completely understand how this is helpful, but as a consumer (and a person in charge of vendors), I’d just like a rate estimate because I don’t have a lot of time. I love the advice on this channel, but this conversation would annoy me. 😂
Thank you for your feedback and thanks for watching. 🙂
Nice imput.but to much haggling will cause you to loose sells
Sales dumbo
Too many questions, home owners dont have time for that!!!! I've given quotes 100's of time!
Thanks so much for sharing your opinions on this topic.
