Some of the most recent lists are already playing four. It's a bit unfortunate, for one because god knows UB frogginator was the last deck that needed an upgrade and secondly because the card is stupid expensive on mtgo...
20:01 Doing a quick look over Maverick decklist and it looks like a lot of them are only running a single basic. Perhaps Floodmoon is now a viable option against them.
Eldrazi are very solid still and I like the UB tempo style build rather than reanimator my personal play style. Then there's Tempo Doomsday soon. So there are a few decent options, what are you thinking about playing?
@@crucible_of_words well I’ve been jamming mono red for a while and even though I think it’s decent in this meta, I can’t beat UB consistently enough to play it imo. That leaves me with trying to pick up underground seas for UB (probably tempo) or pivot onto a deck I have less experience with like Sneak and Show or Painter.
@@RadicalSpikee frog is definitely too good and has warped the format a great deal. Its numbers in winners meta is comparable to Dreadhorde Arcanist and is very ban worthy. I expect it to be banned in December
@crucible_of_words let's ban Daze first and see what will happen, how many cards have to die for sins of Blue players. Also tell me if I'm wrong, but how did you protect Dreadhorde Arcanist? Perhaps with Daze? Problem is always the same! Free spells! Frog is 2 drop which dies to pretty much any removal.
@@RadicalSpikee The problem is having a 2 drop card advantage creature. Frog is worse as it dodges a lot of removal and never dies in combat. When Daze is just protecting a creature that only acts on axis (damage), then it's fine, and has been for a while. Frog was more played than Daze in the last challenge as well. Daze is a necessary tool to keep the busted combo decks in check. Force protects frog too. The issue is definitely an overpushed creature that is in the top 5 creatures of all time.
@crucible_of_words I can't agree, just to give you solid argument I can point out Timeless where Frog is not even Tier 1 deck, being much worse than Show and Tell & Energy. You know what's not legal in Timeles? Daze.
@@RadicalSpikee Timeless is not a real format tbh, and Show and Tell is the best deck because the counter magic is so bad lol. There are tempo decks running UB frog still though. It's not useful to compare wildly different formats, you could say "ragavan is fine in legacy because it's fine in modern" and that would obviously be wrong. Although that being said, according to MTGRocks, Dimir midrange is the 3rd best deck and rated higher than show and tell. So looks like people are catching on, Frog is the second most played deck in modern as well according to MTGGoldfish. Frog is not OK in Legacy and the numbers certainly bare that out. It was much more played than Grief before Grief was banned as it was a better thing to do than the broken banned card lol

Floodmoon is a great name for the harbinger btw. I might start using that instead of getting mixed up between harbingers!

I did not think the metamorphosis fanatic was any good and was overhyped during spoiler season, but dang it was absolutely nuts that league
Frog is extremely popular in Vintage where Daze is mediocre. Proof of concept that it is a problem in Legacy.
Another Content Creator do 2:3 and claims Frog is too good. Frog is OK, but if you have Daze to protect it on turn two we have a problem.
