@@Drecon84 I sent it through a translator but "thanks for having me" ended up with a literal translation which didn't make any sense, so I chose the closest I could think of myself. Idk what the best translation for great would be in the context of the whole quote 😅
Damn it! Now i want an episode of canlander with Ben in the bottom of the screen just sitting there, nodding in agreement and making faces from time to time without any acknowledgment from the crew.
Am I missing something, or do Ben and Nelly seem to think Blitz lets Star Athlete be played from the graveyard? Are they just that Tenacious Underdog-pilled?
Nah, you can't cast it from the graveyard. I think they genuinly just think that because Tenacious underdog is the only blitz card in the format that's playable (until now) so they may think that's part of the mechanic.
I was hooting and hollering like I was at a sports game when Wheeler did that Get Lost interaction on Urza's Saga. I can never truly hate the game of Magic: The Gathering
I'm not sure if Dark Ritual is Canlander playable, but I feel like Swamp -> Dark Ritual -> Opposition Agent turn one instant speed feels like a Wheeler thing to do.
I love Ben's deck, although it feels like it could use some fine-tuning. There are so many fun sub-themes that don't actually have a payoff in the rest of the deck. That said, many of those cards don't necessarily need it.
Paul is close; Rocky's trainer's name is Mick. "Cut me, Mick" is indeed from Rocky. I had heard Ben say that before and I had assumed he just mis-remembered the name.
Ok maybe I’m a bit slow but that tough mulligan Serge showed off, i feel like you pitch a land 100% of the time? I think the math of drawing one land is way better than keeping a 3 spell hand without real action
His deck has 35 lands. Pitching one means you have 32 lands (shuffling a land on the bottom doesn't give him a much better chance of seeing it again). Considering he plays Moxen, you can up that to 34 mana sources. So let's stick it to 33% chance of getting to play his 3-drop on curve (and it increases each draw step to around 50% on turn 3). If he stays on 2 lands and draws one of his 32 cards that can be played with 2 mana or a land, that's almost 70% chance of playing something else. the other 30% he draws three 3-drops and is stuck with a Swords and a Sentinel. The other thing to consider is the opponent: Ben removes his sentinel, he draws a card but is probably too late to stabilize. Its tricky, but I think I'd keep 3 lands, considering his 3 drops are better at giving more card advantage than his 1 and 2 drops.
Before combat damage, wheeler fetches, going to 19 life. Once he has a swamp in play, he casts Snuff Out which you can pay 4 life to cast instead of paying mana, only if you have a swamp, so he pays 4 down to 15. Snuff out kills the bigger creature, leaving wheeler only taking 1 combat damage from the inspector, down to 14.
Wait at 16:30 Wheeler untaps his black source even though Serge tapped it. So he shouldn't have been able to play Tidebinder right? I'm surprised nobody caught this

Hey, that is just editing Ben on North 100 Showdown!

i would pay good money for an 8 hour dvd of this
So we want Ben in the Doom Guy position on the overlay.

Am I missing something, or do Ben and Nelly seem to think Blitz lets Star Athlete be played from the graveyard? Are they just that Tenacious Underdog-pilled?
I was thinking the same thing, so much so that I actually read the comp rules entry on Blitz just to be sure I wasn't missing something. XD
Nah, you can't cast it from the graveyard. I think they genuinly just think that because Tenacious underdog is the only blitz card in the format that's playable (until now) so they may think that's part of the mechanic.
I'm just now realizing Star Athlete has blitz and not dash
There is a Cinnabun inside at least one Toronto subway station. I believe there may also be a place to buy perfume there too.
6:42 I had a flashback to another episode when Serge had 3-4 ninjas in his "Ninja deck", but now somehow 18 cards is just a splash haha
and multiple double red cards too
shout out to the 7pt highlander archetype "blood and taxes" that we call "Moonshine". and its sibling Black red "Eclipse"
Really appreciate Serge going over his keep at 1:37:41 which shows both great content creations skills and genuine interest in his audience's opinions

I am LIVING for Nelson's sass in that last match.
A double helping of Canadian Highlander this week? You spoil us, LRR!
The most Canadian of Highlanders (especially with that intro)
the contemplative nfl theme from ben around 54:48 was great
two canadian highlander videos back to back? Now I can get through my college exams
you mean you can put off your uni exams while watching two back-to-back canadian highlander videos? :P
I wish I could do that lol
That intro was the loveliest thing I’ve heard all week.
Excellent, as always. Thank you!
This is my favorite format with some cool dudes!
Dropped a north 100 showdown yesterday and canlander fnpf!? Hell yeah
Love serge playing Boros Taxes I've been jamming a similar deck in pioneer for a year now and it warms the soul :)
'Bit subversion' will never get old to me. "We've got a Paul - " "HI!" Love it.
I'm not sure if Dark Ritual is Canlander playable, but I feel like Swamp -> Dark Ritual -> Opposition Agent turn one instant speed feels like a Wheeler thing to do.
It is, but usually only in Storm decks. Which probably don't want to run Oppo, but definitely could.
really digging the blood and taxes list, looks fun!
splashing for 18 cards 😂😂😂😂😂 god i love serge
Always happy with more Canlander. Putting together gruul monsters atm 😤
thank you for halving me it’s great to hear
Thank you for here its great to have
Thank here for having you, it's me to be have
It's gotta be a little frustrating to be on the Rishadan Port plan and suddenly run into every playable flash creature in existence
Just the Thumbnail, with the line-up, thats all I need.
Wheeler continuing with his unexpected anti-Urza tech

Would love to see a retro canlander episode at some point to see all the cool decks and cards from the past that keep being referenced on north 100
Nice basics Wheeler, the plains and island are my go-tos for mtgo.
Nelly has to be the most wholesome person on the internet
Combat de papier du vendredi soir est mon spectacle prefere
Merci de me recevoir, c’est super d’être ici. J’adore le Montagnard Canadien.
Haircuts looking clean wheeler 👍
Yay, Highlander! And an Eye of Ender clue token? Love it. Where does one find that? 1:28:00
May I humbly suggest we name Serge's deck B&T for Burn and Taxes.
Nearly three hours of canlanding? That will take multiple seatings to finish, but we're not in a hurry over here.
I would love to see a Retro Canlander with decks only consisting of cards printed before 2010 or something.
Serge's deck was awesome I think
I got pulled over by the rcmp like an hour ago, thanks for having me

I had heard Ben say that before and I had assumed he just mis-remembered the name.
1:18:55 and in a sleight of hand that should cost a blue mana, Ben shuffled Ragavan back into his deck off Endurance
My idea for a format , Minnesota Highlander . It’s Canadian Highlander but in the U.S. #MinnLander
and also we get a commander

THANK YOU SO MUCH @SURGE FOR GETTING THAT STUCK IN MY HEAD ❤
DONT YA KNOW YOU GOTTA?
(Kills me that Ragavan dies to shock 😭)
15/10 Sir
Blood and Taxes is solid, no arguments here. Just want to drop Taxing Moon in here as a potential pun based alternative.
Question for wheeler: is mizzuim skin underrated in Canadian highlander, specifically, Red blue aggro style?
I thought Ben brought back the Cleveland Browns (now probably the Chicago White Sox) deck Cameron used to run when I heard the nfl theme.
I wish that Nadu would Nadon't, but it is now legal in my format of choice Penny Dreadful. Gross Magic card.

True!
Blood & Taxes is such a good deck name
17:05 what is that line.
New Bottom pitch: "Each?!"

The entire interaction happens in response to the Port activation - after it all resolves, Wheeler goes to his draw step.
