The fact that you had to pay $260 for NINE holes at this dump is absolutely insane
How is it insane when they literally explained that to him? They went back and listened to the conversation and she explained it to him 😅 Just because you don't agree with a businesses policy doesn't mean you have the right to skate around it once agreeing to terms.
@@user-lf3hy7wl3t $260 is the insane part
@@user-lf3hy7wl3t because it's literally an insane and shitty policy
@@user-lf3hy7wl3tit's still a ridiculous price
@@user-lf3hy7wl3t id be walking out if they tried to charge me for 4
22:02 that powerplant in the background is too perfect 😭😭
The guy at the counter says “The guy who owns this place is kinda tough.” Sounds like the owner is sitting on this property as an asset and doesn’t want to pay for grounds crews and upkeep. I don’t think I’ve played a course that looked as bad as this one and I’d be mad as a homeowner with a backyard of a garbage dump.
It the good cop / bad cop routine. The guys up front are really trying hard to help you, but the boss is just a hard ass. Screw that. Bring the owner out and let him explain himself.
Another great video! I guess all Florida courses are not created equal. Customer service at golf courses can be rough but that was just silly. Not like they were booked up.
Awesome video. The content just keeps getting better, josh! Proud to be a subscriber.
Just made my day jerry. Appreciate you!
Lol as a lifelong florida resident I can promise you that’s not the worst course in florida lmaoo
Worst rated.
I once played at a very nice course by Lockheed Martin campus, had to go through a security gate to sign in on a very rich neighborhood, we were trying to get at least 9 holes in because it was late in the day. They charged us $20 total that included a cart and told us just be back before the sun went down. We got our 9 in and had an incredible time. Amazing gorgeous course. That was a great Halloween
As someone who has played there a lot I can say the no matter how is at the front desk it’s always a sour vibe in the pro shop
I'm just getting into golf, and I'm glad your channel is like the 2nd that was suggested for me
My man! Appreciate you
You wouldn’t think Customer Service would be such a big deal given that you’re just checking in and spending the rest of your time out playing but it can really make a break a golf course
Here in Central PA you get a great view of Three Mile Island from Sunset GC and some views from Dauphin Highlands as well. Both those courses are much nicer than that Florida course and a lot cheaper.
you should come to Mass and check out Ponkapoag. Feels like ur in someone's back yard. You will also see one of 2 holes with sand on the green.
I work at a golf course doing maintenance and this course is in real bad shape. The bunkers dont look like they have been raked in weeks. We don't charge for no shows and our is 123.50 with a cart.
They shouldnt be changing pins in the afternoon. Usually first thing someone will head out to change pins, have a couple of people doing bunkers, depending on if using walk mowers on greens or not as to how many do that. On certain days will be mowing tees and fairways as well. Depending on size of.crew. if small crew may mow, tees, collars and aprons,.fairways after doing the morning set up. If that course is that dead and not kept up and the only course, not an east or west course, etc.may be a front for something else. Takes good money to operate a golf course.
Very sad back in the day about 20 years ago. It was a go to Golf Course many pros and I played there together. A lot of senior pros was extraordinary.
love to see something different, instead of 300 per player courses. Good thing I passed this up last time I was over in Orlando. Try TPC Sawgrass in Tamps. I was so disappointed but have heard others say it is nice... and if you ever get a chance do Stream Song wich is very nice from what I have seen but most people I know say it was a one time thing... Anyway enjoyed !
Appreciate it!
Lol I would of just walked out. 😅😂
You guys played well in spite of the lack of maintenance
You saved the best for last! Chip in for the win and getting gypped by management!
The chip In definitely eased the pain of losing 130 bones
This place looks like Augusta compared to some of my local courses open to the public.. played one the other day that just had holes cut into the fairway the greens were so bad off and it was still $40
The greens looked really good.
Making you pay for the cancellations when it is an empty course is insane. I would have just walked away and rebooked.
Mystic dunes has to be a close second!!! That course was in bad shape on 2/23 and they were still charging top dollar!!
This course needed a marshall telling you boys you need to pick it up; you're holding people up
I'm going to be honest I love both of your channels..... But I was pissed watching the whole time lol. The video was great the course was just donkey butt
Lmao that $130 cost them way more in the long run. Baaad business there
you ARE the father!
To be fair, the proper action is if you do drop down from four players is to notify the golf shop so they can sell the times. The fact that the course was empty is essentially irrelevant. I understand your argument but the policy is not completely outrageous. I would say it is more an issue of bad will than bad policy. Just my take as a longtime golf course operator.
Cecil Field Golf Course in Jacksonville, Florida makes this course look like TPC
Oh. Just found this and live south a bit. Good to know.
How do you charge someone for 4 players when the course is empty? Kind of explains why the course is empty tho.
Tough look for sure
They get a 1 star from me right off the bat. Charging for people who aren't there when the place is empty?? I'd leave.
I would’ve walked out after the desk experience
Well from the start I’m definitely not playing here in Orlando!
we paid $300 bucks to play the new old course at grand cypress but it was worth it.
Awesome chan. One for the 90% of the rest of us. This course is like many of the muni courses where I played.
We had 12 guys scheduled to play there 2 days in a row and cancelled after seeing this video! Thank you!
Country club of Miami in Hialeah is FAR worse than this
Here is my policy. I wouldn’t play and fight the credit card charge. It’s not like you booked and others couldn’t play, there is no one there!
Any locals here for recommendations for a cheap but decent course to play in the Orlando area !! Playing next week need some recommendations
Bad tee boxes: happen all the time
Bad Bunkers: happen all the time
maybe they’re being let go on purpose anyway.
Patchy fairways: a little bit of a peeve but I’ll choke it down
Slow/bumpy greens: Irks me a bit but I can try to adjust as best as possible
Bad carts/no ball washers/bad hole maps: I have a pull cart I usually walk anyway and I can just use my G.A.M. mobile app
Charging me for more people than I have with me even when I warned them on the phone it might happen and they put me down like it was no big deal: Okay absolutely not your course sucks
couldn't agree more
@@JoshMayerGolf On God bro I’d rather play a real beat up track with chill staff who care about you than a decent course where they treat you like some intruder.
I’ve never had a course punish me for having half our group cancel or have to drop out. That is insane.
Since Covid it’s sadly become common.
@The Hopper even since Covid I haven't seen it happen.
Same Ive never seen this issue that’s ridiculous
If they had to turn people away because you booked a group of 4 I would understand but the course looked empty
San Antonio municipal courses are run by the city. If you book and someone doesn’t show they don’t your account and after so many they’ll block you from booking tee times in advance
Thank you for the warning, I live about 40 min from this course and have passed it many times telling myself I should play there. Just saved my group some money and play at a horrible course. I’ll be sure to spread the word about this course and their ridiculous reservation policy as well. Who tf charges for no-shows? Crazy…
A course in danger. They’ll do whatever they can to keep the doors open, no matter how shady. Shoots them in the foot, but when you’re desperate you tend not to think things through.
To be fair, there is also a Stoneybrook in Estero, and it's in fantastic shape. Just played there a couple weeks ago and would gladly play it again
Rio Pinar in Orlando also charges for no shows while being a below avg course, just a heads up
They booked 4 knowing they were only going to have two! Who only plays 9 holes. This course has 4 of the best finishing holes from a layout perspective in all of Orlando. These guys were complaining that there were animals on the course? Bunch of hacks. Obviously just looking for followers.
@@kurty27 we found a course owner or employee. Joined UA-cam today just to defend this horrible course.
They booked 4 assuming 4 would show. I do it all the time. Buddy says he’ll try to make it, we book to be sure, buddy doesn’t show, we don’t pay for that missing player. It’s not unheard of, it’s very common.
I play 9 holes all the time. I have a job, wife, 4 kids.. time is limited. 9 holes is better than no holes. “Who only plays 9 holes” is a crappy elitist view which is in line with this terrible courses policies. Also, even if having the best finishing holes was true (it’s not) I’m not playing for 16 mediocre and 4 good holes.
They weren’t complaining about the animals. The bunkers had more weeds than the empty lot next to my house. The course is hot garbage. Call some of the successful courses in your area and ask some advice
80$ a round. For that price here in Michigan you can play 90% of some of the best courses.
The best courses in Michigan are all at least twice as expensive
@@toddoron facts
The audacity to bring 1 single golf ball.. I wish i had the confidence to do that.
I don't have the confidence to bring one sleeve..
If I don't have at least 4 dozen balls in my bag, it's gonna be a short day for me. Lol
It would give me an anxiety attack
Lose it off the first tee and Just go home..
@@richardstockman7482I feel like I'm dancing with the devil when I bring one box.
I would have left immediately when they tried to make me pay for players that weren't there. Credit card company charge back and hit any other course in the world.
Yup. Would have told them you can end up with 2 paying golfers, or zero... your choice.
To the Places that make you put down a card when reserving, I put down a prepaid debit card with $1 on it lol. Every now and then someone cancels last minute, and if a course tries to charge me for the missing player, I’ll just leave.
Geez, the municipal course by me isn't even THAT bad, and I only pay $25 for 9. That's crazy. Owner sounds like an a-hole. But the content was great! Love to see you and Jake make this a series, playing the worst/best courses in the states
That’s what I couldn’t understand is the course is alright if it’s 60% less than they’re charging.
Y’all deserve credit for staying calm. The moment they told me I had to pay for 4 I would’ve told them to F themselves and walked out. I knew they weren’t going to refund you. Did they wait to tell you about paying for all 4 after they already had your card?
I agree. Customer service can make or break an experience regardless how nice or bad a course is.
They booked it online and made the reservation through golf now. And they never intended to have four players or play 18. Couple of chumps. Talked that trash on the course about what they were going to do inside, didn’t do a damn thing.
@@justinswearengin5912 you the guy in the pro shop?
@@MWalsh1992 has to be 😂
You overcharging people
Jake's last comment, "How's business going? Oh! Good?!" 😂
I'm literally ded.
I’ve never seen that policy enforced. Shameful. For future reference… “we got a call on the way here that the other two players just tested positive”
"Its not the 3 woods fault, I would say Takoma is still a great company" - Jake
The Indian not the arrow
If you paid for 4 players, you should taken 2 carts!😂
My local course is in way worse condition but the reason they’re literally packed everyday is because they only charge $20 before 3 and $15 after 3 for 9 holes and with discount card it’s only $22.50 for 18 and $11.25 for 9! But the customer service is top notch! They remember everyone’s names, they’re always super polite and will help you with anything! And the course itself isn’t bad the greens just need work! Last year isn’t was in way better shape because it wasn’t as busy from the hurricane but now that it’s so packed everyday it’s had to keep up with a smaller crew! But it’s a fun course design and definitely a tougher course which I love! But down the street a but there’s Southern dunes which is a PGA type course it’s absolutely stunning, me and my brother played there in January it’s was the best course I’ve seen! It literally looked like they were getting ready for a PGA tour event it was so well kept and we paid $136 for 2 for 18 holes and that seemed cheap, also if my brother had paid the day before we would’ve only paid $90 lol
"For as long as we are in business."
"How's business been lookin?" HAHA!
Better use that raincheck soon!
Dang thats a bogus rule, and the lack of tact with no slack…don’t blame you for the low rating at the end! Awesome video and review, loved the chemistry!
Easy t9 get a charge back by saying you were accidentally double charged
1:45 leave.
What a silly rule. The website for my course doesn't show all the tee times when you try to book solo so they literally tell me to book 2 people to get the time I want and just let them know I'm playing solo when I arrive.
Need to see more of you and Jake on a golf course.
We are going to bombard them with one stars. Let's go yall.
Edit: 24hrs later there are 17 new one star reviews. Let's go!
I actually gave a 1-star review. Who else will actually do it with me???
@@sheckii I did yesterday
Classy
Or maybe not. You’ve never played the course so you only know it off one video
Do you really have nothing better to do with your life than leave poor reviews for a business you’ve never even been to?? Grow up.
Ugh, the charge policy on the missed tee times for an empty sheet is the worst. Great way for courses to lose future business.
It looks like it was a nice course once. It probably was a country club that failed and was bought by a group that is trying to squeeze every last dollar out of it before closing. We have that happening to several courses out where I live. A company out of China bought up about 8 courses out here and have done the bare minimum in maintenance which has turned several of these really nice courses into a mess. They aren’t as bad as that course but playing them is borderline depressing.
Kinda weird when foreign entities can buy out your “country” from under you
I used to live near this course. The owner wants to sell the course to developers to build apartments on the land, but they are hamstrung by a contractual guarantee with the HOA that it will always be a golf course. They are basically purposely not maintaining it in hopes that homeowners will get frustrated by the dropping property values and will agree to a compromise.
@@WTJBlog- it’s basically a bait and switch scam. They advertise a championship golf course and double charge for a poorly maintained goat ranch. They need to be shut down.
“How is business?” Only people on a Thursday afternoon 🤣
I would have walked away as soon as they tried to charge for no shows. I would have stopped ALL payments and they collect 0 dollars, everyone is more dumber for the experience and may God have mercy on your soul, because I sure won’t!
They probably put down their credit card before they got there and the guy would’ve immediately charged it and they would have zero recourse…just sayin
@@snuglife599- adding unauthorized charges to someone’s credit card is fraud. They should refute the charges and have the credit card company investigate it. There’s always a recourse.
Great video. What a shame...I use to play that course when it was nice. By the way, the range balls there are low density floater golf balls for the water driving range they have.
Josh you handled this well.... They gave up maintenance after the first hole! They'd have to waterboard me to get me to pay $ 300 for that day...
I've been waterboarded, I still wouldn't pay 3 bills
I've played at par-3 courses run by park districts that look nicer. Not by much, but you paid $75/person and I paid $19. Insanity.
Snake bit would have been worth more then $2. It would have made this video go viral. Sometimes you need to take one for the team😂
OK, I've made tee times for 4 somes and had it where someone didn't show up. When I get to the course they ask if I'm paying for everyone, and I say no, the other guys will pay when they get here. I just pay for my own and walk to the practice green. If someone does not show up, I have not been chased down to pay for them.
I love content like this. Just good old fashioned fun with the boys. That interaction at the pro shop would've had me heated before I even started my round. No wonder the place got bad ratings. This place is quite literally a scam. For those conditions, no more than $40 a round.
Appreciate it brother! More where that came from
They booked 4 knowing they were only going to have 2, just so they could video it. These guys are terrible.
You got a brain in that big ass head of yours?
@@JoshMayerGolf you should play the course again in about 2-3 after they redo to it 😃
More like no more than $20 a round. I've played a lot better and more well-managed public courses for less than $40 at peak hours.
Make a new pay for people that didn't come. I would instantly leave and they lose all money.
No one would of judged if you turned around and walked right out, making this a short review of the course.
😂
13:55 absolutely killed me man LMAO. Great video thanks for the laughs and man that course is something else, just had me dying with he edits too😂
Should have turned and walked out. That is a scam.
Fr
This course was great about 10 years ago. Perfect condition. I played it last summer and it was in worse condition than in this video. Fairways looked like mine fields. Not a nuclear power plant by the way. lol.
Used to work for this course/owner as his director of golf, dude is the absolute worst. He’s single-handedly the reason I left the golf industry
I’m sorry that you had this experience here at stony
The course has rebounded since y this video big time
In northern Ohio this would be a 28 bucks for 18 and a cart. For 60 you are getting top tier golf courses with every amenity possible.
I pay 14 dollars to walk nine holes after work at a nice course in SW Ohio. It’s in way better shape than this place.
Josh if your ever in tampa you should try to play “the claw at usf” by far worse conditions than this course. The pro shop is a trailer 😅
The claw used to be pretty good…their clubhouse caught fire a few years ago and at that point they havent bothered to fix anything…such a shame
It's hard this time of year till after April to find affordable golf at any course in Florida, even the worst courses near me are at least $50
I wish I was raised with your level of privilege.
Bethpage Black costs $75 for NY residents. It's 180 for out of state.
Those in state prices got me. Looks like it’s $65 weekdays for in state. That ones on me
@@JoshMayerGolf all good brotha. Point still stands that this place should not be charging 60 for 18.
If you look closely I don’t think he made that putt on 8. If you slow it down looks like a miss that he picks up right next to the hole to make a dramatic 9th hole and ending. Good creativity giving such a shaky clip on that pick up imo
If you want a fun and challenging course to play in SE Wisconsin, that's also a bit optimistic on the green fees,
check out Alpine Valley.
And here I am playing Waiehu on the Ocean in Maui, Hi for $17 KamaAina ❤
I guess if they had anybody playing the course they wouldn’t have to worry about 130$….. I feel bad for the staff, they have to apologize for the owners doing. Can’t stand people like that, I did contract work for a billionaire he was lucky to find 6 pallbearers when he passed…. Great video!! You were a professional through the end….
3 of the pallbearers probably worked for the funeral home.
Before I even start watching the rest of the video, the fact they wanted to charge you for 4 players when you only had 2 in-person is not only scummy AF but COMPLETE BS!!!!!!!!! I would've blown my gasket & this video wouldn't even exist lol
Nah getting charged for 4 I’m just leaving
I love the ominous music playing between holes😂. Probably my favorite video on your channel. Great colab!
I live in Orlando, you should come back and check out Hunters Creek which closed 2/3 years ago
I live in Orlando and have played this course a few times. I too, unfortunately, have been hit by the paying extra because a couple buddies backed out :/
Really kinda hoping Josh breaks par on this course and then feels like he has to play there all the time. For sure not worth $65, reminds me of a family-owned course near my house that's $30 and in better shape usually.
Wow screw that place
Wow I wouldn't pay $20 to play that course cart included. They should be ashamed of themselves for charging that ridiculous green fee.
The second they tried to make you pay for the other 2 dudes that didn’t show up was an indication to leave. The course is prob owned by a foreign company trying to max revenue while giving crap quality.
I could play like 10 courses here in Washington for that price, all being all around better courses. I would understand if they were just having a bad season for maintenance but this is ridiculous. It's like the same as a course here in the PNW charging full price in the winter to play all temp greens
For real. $130 a tee time gets you Pumpkin Ridge in prime time, Chambers Bay in the shoulder season, and multiple rounds at other courses around that are in much better condition.
I feel bad for the employees at places like this. They have to deal with the owners horrible decisions daily
super entertaining man loved this style of vid keep up the good work!
I think of my buddy and I arrived planning to play a terrible course then they say you have to either play as a foursome or pay for the foursome I would of prob told them I think we will go find another course. I’m sure there’s other bad course to spotlight. They may have decided to make an exception. But once they had your money and no other customers they sure as hell are not giving it back lol. Great video and way to stay positive
There's a course in the city I grew up in that everyone referred to as "The Goat Ranch". It was so bad that I actually lost a ball on the fairway. The grass was all brown, everywhere, even on the "greens". How they stayed in business was anybody's guess, but it wasn't that expensive to play on, and the only reason I played golf at all was it was cheaper to pay the greens fees and rent a golf cart for the day than to go to the go-cart track. You would be surprised the fun you can have with a golf cart and no brains.
Good stuff, guys and what a shame. We used to hold our Lockheed league there in the 90's and it was a pretty stellar track. My last time playing there was about 20 yrs ago and I swore off of the goat ranch then. The really sad part; the head pro there used to be at Rio Pinar and he is a helluva nice guy and were it up to him he'd have probably comp'd you the round.
