It's amazing how many people you meet on UA-cam that a person cannot help but love. You are definitely one of them.

I have thought about this subject since I was 17.
Based on hours of doing and thought and experimentation, I believe
Food. Water. A survival blanket and a capable knife is the minimum gear for a day hike.
Add a USMC surplus bivy cover and a Bic for overnight.

Really like what you had to say about getting out and doing it your own way. Great kit, man! God bless!

My motto is to get out there and fail. Experience is the greatest teacher. If we become too militant we confine ourselves too much. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Olight sells replacement headlamp straps for their perun mini headlamp for like 4 dollars that would be a direct replacement for your headlamp unit. They have the same attachment style where it just slips into the slotted section

My pathfinder haversack is getting so beat up as well I decided to buy a secondary back up. Crazy thing is you can’t find them in oilskin much anymore. Only coalcracker has some left on his site. Cool content, my dude

You should do your gear reviews outside of your vehicle. It would be much more interesting and scenic and organic and fitting for the gear.
So what do you do for food?

When using your SAK saw to strike a ferro rod place the saw teeth down onto your tinder and draw your ferro rod across the saw, this concentrates your sparks while giving them a longer hotter burn time. With this method you will use far less strikes to start your tinder, if youve never tried it that way I highly recommend it!

I do the same with the saw on my leatherman wave.i seen it on the channel with the guy that does all kinda stuff with his Swiss army knives. Can't remember the Channel name but I love that guy. Anyway, it does work better than the spine of my knife at least for me

@@alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548 yup that's him! Ty, and yes, awsome ideas and such a happy and positive guy! Is he from Switzerland? Anyway he is that countries version of Dave from Fun In the Woods (reallybigmonkey1) . I also like how he sharpened his age with a file and a rag.

I liked and subscribed because 1) I also do Woodcraft type activities in Northern NY, and 2) you seem to gravitate to the same exact equipment I do.
I think there is something about this terrain and climate that makes waxed canvas work so well here.

Thank you for sharing and that was well said about doing what works for you. I am willing to bet that the ones who make negative comments have never even tried the piece of gear or technique that they are commenting on. Keep doing you and to the best of my knowledge there is only one that we have to impress with our words and deeds. Those Campcraft pouches are great!

Wow great talk man, Its so true, people love to put people in a box and dictate how we live our lives. I myself love to go camping, and I do bushcraft, but not a survivalist but play one on tv, LOL. I live in the city and make bushcraft and outdoor gear, i dont get to go camping much, since Im usually busy sewing, my favorite place to go is Chenango County, I have family that own land out there. Anyway keep up the good videos and dont let people get to you. Take care. Maybe we can do a colab together I'll email you. Peace

I agree with you, most so called survivalists would be screaming for Mommy in a real situation. Just look at the people on Alone! Anyway it does not hurt to have fun and acquire survival skills, but don’t call yourself an expert and cut others down who may not fall into what you think a survivalist is supposed to be. The real survivalists are actual survivors in real circumstances! They had the fortitude and mental fitness to keep themselves and maybe others alive. Great video! We can all be cynical at times but the trick to me is to take what may work for you and leave the rest without running your mouth!😊
