    "Just buy the car you want and repair it when it brakes" I have honestly never heard this advice from no other car channel.....ever! and that's why I love it. By the way I will take a 5ltr in dark green with saddle leather interior please.

      Its not very good advice, but if we all worry about breakdowns, we'd all be in 1.6 Corolla's wouldn't we. And how boring would that be.

      Ask any AA driver/mechanic which cars ? break down more often, and they say that the RR would be top of their list. (AAA in USA). Even having an extended warranty, do you really want the RR to be at the mechanic’s shop more often than others?

    Just sold my 2011 4.4 and it was an amazing car. Best driving/seat position in a car I've driven and that engine is unreal. Get a 2010 or newer, which is a better Ford engine and you are good to go. Just make sure you service it and do jobs as they are close to going wrong and hopefully you can avoid any big bills.... and after over 2 years of owning one, still cost me less in depreciation, tax, insurance and fuel than my E91 BMW.

    Hi Matt. Fabulous video as always. I really think THIS is the best Range Rover to go for. 2009 facelift and updated interior. Maybe not the supercharged petrol but the 300hp diesel. Full service history ideal with fewer than 100,000 miles done. Dream price would be £15k. True, earlier models you can get for under £4k but this 2009 combination is the best of everything in my opinion. Thank you for helping me reach this moment of clarity!

      I just took delivery of a 2010 Range Rover Supercharged myself. Had it delivered to me in Philadelphia from Miami in good condition. I've only one concern at this time and that's the driver side power step rail is stuck halfway between open and closed if that makes sense. The step rail motor makes noise, but it won't budge much even with pressure applied after heavy lubrication. The passenger side works flawlessly. Will be getting it sorted soon though. Id been wanting one of these forever and I'm truly excited about the purchase.

    Love your closing remarks about buying the car you want and fix it if it breaks, my 02 R45v6 is a fine example, I was between a rock and a hard place when I bought it, one owner FSH and only 68000kms on the clock. I've kept up all the servicing records it sailed thro its MOT and I'm in the midst of my 2nd year of ownership. The biggest difference between 4.2 SC and the 5.0 SC is that 4.2 SC i much more reliable. 5.0 SC is prone to have timing issues. 5.0 SC is pretty powerfull when it works and well maintained.

    • @unprofessionalmechanic8466
      @unprofessionalmechanic8466 4 роки тому +2

      True. 4.2 SC has thick walled pistons sleeves and no varriable timing and no direct injection which makes this engine whole hell of a lot simpler then 5.0 SC. My first LR was 2009 RRS SC -what a awesome car, second and a current 2013 RRS SC 5.0. Theoretically, if you buy one made in 2012-2013, there is no timing issue or if you had that timing issue taken care of, these engines are pretty reliable and long lasting besides that specific issue. I mran there is some plastic cooland housing that cracks but generally, timing issue aside. Its not like 4.2 last forever and 5.0 you will be loosing piston rods every time you go to grossery store.
      Huge plus of 2010 RRSs is fully redone interior, while it does not have gigantic screen or multiple screens, does not have interior like space ship like Velar does but it is awesome, high quality, modern and conservative and undoubtedly has all the infotament for the ride without iphone embedded in to dash board. There is no limit for better, better then better, better then better better but again - I have everything I need withing the hand's reach in my 2013 L320, very comfortable and ergonomic, kicks ass with 5.0 SC too.
      Yeah, I with it would be aluminum body not worry about corrosion, would, probably be nice to have 8 speed trany instead of 6 speed but like I said - There is no limit for better. I bought it Certfied Preowned directly from LR Dealer with extended warranty and "convinced" them to replace Engine and Transmission in 2019 before warranty expired, hopefully I will enjoy it for several more years relatively trouble free.
      Generally, if I could have the 2013 interior RRS with 4,2 SC engine, I'd go for it, add a bigger SC pulley if you want nore oooomph.

    here is my take: people go on about how reliable toyotas are an all..............i had a 2004 4runner 4.7 v8.......it took u anywhere,was ballsy,hardly ever broke down.............BUT....................it was THE MOST BORING CAR I EVER HAD.....sure the 4.7 is awesome,but its too damn lazy u stepped on it and it was like.....yeaaa gimme a minute let me strech my muscles sort of thing............i drove my friends 4.2 supercharged version of the range rover..........COMPARED to the 4runner? it was WAY WAY WAY better in every sense,the response was instant,u could feel the engine,and the air suspension made u feel like u were on a magic carpet......saying that........would u rather enjoy yourself and live at the mechanics workshop while owning a Range Rover? or be bored out of your mind and never worry about repairs in a TOYOTA? i leave that to u ;) (i got blisters on my fingers :D )

    • @johnmalin1676
      @johnmalin1676 3 роки тому +1

      But Toyotas are even more expensive to repair when they go wrong, and believe me fella, I've heard some horror stories about Toyota and Mitsubishi to. Lets put it this way, If you buy "ANY" vehicle that is over 5 years old and out of manufacturers warranty, expect issues. And that includes BMW, Audi, Porcha, Mercedes, Land Rover, Toyota, Mitsubishi.

    Another RR review? Yes! I was annoyed with your Landcruiser review. I have mentioned before that I have a RR with the 4.4 Ford Turbo diesel V8 and, compared to the RR, that Landcruiser couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.
    The L322 is an absolute delight but, if you're pulling a horsebox, the big diesel is the engine of choice. A much better tow car than the Toyota and just one of the most delightful place to be in on the motorway.

    • @HighPeakAutos
      @HighPeakAutos  4 роки тому

      I agree! In terms of road manners, you can't compare the Landcruiser to the RR. The Range Rover is in another league

    Your reviews are based on reality, and they are the reasons why I am looking at a 5.0 Supercharged. My dad has a Subaru Legacy, and it has had so many problems. I had a 2005 Mercury for 14 years, and the only issue was with the air con needing fixed. We still love Subaru's even though ours had issues. When you want power and luxury, be prepared to spend a little. Keep up the only honest reviews on the web!!!!

    Good vids, enjoying this channel. There's nothing quite like a RR/RRS in working order, they are wonderful to drive. To be fair though, I had a head gasket and both cats go on that same engine in a 2010 RRS AB after 60k miles with FSH. People don't make these stories up. My 2008 RRS 2.7, again with only 75,000 and FSH, was in the garage with something wrong every month. Buying these cars is a lucky dip. My Dad's 2017 RRS has been good as gold, he's done big mileage with no issues at all. I went to the garage more in 2 years of LR ownership than I did my other 11 years of motoring combined, and I've owned 4 Alfa Romeos!

    "You may as well just buy the car you want and fix it when it breaks". Considering the amount of people paying £300+ per month on a new Audi on lease etc, your advice seems so so sensible. I've never even sat in one of these but I presume every one I see on the road is owned by a celeb, a footballer, a drug dealer, a successful business owner or Royalty. I know am gonna love it if I ever sit in one. Your review makes me consider saving up to get one as an upgrade from my 2009 fiesta 😂. Would need to park some dough for repairs as well of course. High Peak Autos have got the used car review game on lock. Your sales must have rocketed from all your videos. All the best.

    12:30 Thats the best advice Ive heard from anyone! And changes are you’re going to spend more money on something you like to drive rather than something “sensible”. I’ve had “sensible” cars. They break as well. More often the cars you like are better built but more expensive to repair but don’t break as often. And when they are fixed it’s driving heaven instead of the dreary econobox same old.
    Best advice ever.

    I own a 2007 L322 TDV8 in Australia. Thankfully this video is the most accurate I have ever seen on You Tube. I have taken ours almost around Australia, to the Snowfields, through the Murray River and it tows our 30 foot trailerable boat. I spend about AUD$1000 a year on LR maintenance. This is complex and capable and matches the Toyota Landcruiser in many aspects. If Maintained, garaged, driven respectfully and repaired early, if and when necessary, the depreciation over their entire life is more reasonable than just the first few years when all cars drop in value. The economy in ours is 1000 Km per tank and the torque enough to retrieve our boat on the launching ramp (3500KG).

    • @HighPeakAutos

      Bill Martin I totally agree. And they’re far better to drive than a Land Cruiser
