@@John_code Thanks for your input. Nothing worth having is free- and driving a Range Rover is no exception. If you had watched more of the videos about Range Rovers you'd know that. He is not keeping it a secret, he is telling the truth about people who want to show what they don't have and are cheap when it comes to service. I'd love to know if you had a first hand experience or if your mate from the pub who drives an astra g told you about the one time he red somwhere a comment on the internet. I have friends who own and used to own them and I know their mechanics who work at Land rover and service them as well. They all recommend if I consider buying one I should get it new only. Their explanation is the way the car devalues and the expenses on it as it ages are not worth it. And belive me non of them are near broke. They just tired of having to through the car back to the dealer on a frequent. Sometimes people at land rover can't even diagnose their own vehicle Again I'm in South Africa and we go serious off road with our SUV , obviously if you going to use the vehicle around town and this applies to any vehicle, its going to give you little problems Genuinely wealthy people use the vehicle as intended comfortably and are not cautious about expenses. There is a good reason why this car can't hold its value mate and he can't compare a Merc that holds its value and is a much more robust machine
@@HighPeakAutos well said fella! 14mths ago i bought the 2010 face-lift RRS Hse 3l V6 @ 103k miles with cam belt just done. Great service history. Re costs: I was unfortunate to have to shell out £600 very early on for fuel tank sensor failure. Just paid it and moved on! In no way detracting from the smile, EVERY time I jump in the car. Just replaced the pads myself. Noticed a wobble in the wheel bearing. Ordered a new one and going to replace it tomorrow! 4 new tyres last week. No regrets whatsoever! I'm not a mechanic but know my way around a spanner. I'm not wealthy, but a realistic. I've spent 30k miles, enjoying every mile. 4 hr journeys to Plymouth & Padstow just fly by. The seats (in conjunction with the ride) are the most comfortable i think I've ever had! For my bad back, the heated seats are just so good. My one downside- internal storage, door pockets etc- shocking! But then, we do have a fridge!🤣🤣 Yes, full Bluetooth is missing, but I use the aux input tethered to my phone. A realist finds a workaround! Never been happier!
I've just bought my first Range Rover. It was a long time coming. In the end your comment: "What are you going to do? Never buy the car you want because it might break-down?" played a deciding role. I followed all your general advice about buying a used car. Bought from a respectable house. Meticulously documented service history and evidence that whenever something needed doing, he got it done. Some of the bills were scary but at least he paid them. And the radio was tuned to Radio 4! LOL. Finally, I didn't buy the cheapest one out there. I tried to buy a good one. It's a 2008 2.7 HSE which I know isn't anybody's first pick (93,000 miles) but all the above swung it over the couple of other offerings locally. So this will be my RR introduction. I might get it out of my system and move on, and it might be the first of many. Thanks for all the advice and guidance.
I’ve done 130k miles in my RRS TDV6 MY2010 and had to do the turbos at 90k miles and the air suspension sensor at 120k miles. Otherwise she’s been a very reliable car and regularly tows a trailer off road. Low range gearbox is a must for me.
More than happy with my 2011 range rover autobiography sport, had it jyst over a year and its the best move I made. I had it fully serviced, brake discs an pads, suspension, timing belt done as a precaution and this paid dividends. Car runs a dream and is a pleasure to drive. I don't regret one bit buying this.
I’ve always wanted a Range Rover but been scared off by the potential costs and people making faces when I say I’m interested in one. I agree with you 100% servicing and preventative maintenance are the key as they are with most cars. I just need to find one at the right price and one that’s been looked after.
I own a 2012 HSE and it's a beauty. Been reliable so far, but I look after it. Every time I drive it or drive other people anywhere I feel safer than I've been in any other car, and that's just something that's worth the whole experience.
i had a 2011 hse hit a tree going almost 50mph because someone cut me off the highway and came out completely unscathed except with backlash and stretch nerves and muscles i don’t think any other car can take hitting a tree at almost 50 and coming to a dead stop and keep everyone person safe
You're one of the few UA-camrs who aren't trashing Range Rovers! I have a 2001 P38 Range Rover and the worst thing was a head gasket blew. I did the work myself because there was enough help on the Internet to get through it. If you check all of the costs that I have had and divide it by 19 years, it's actually been pretty affordable. As long as you're handy mechanically and go to the dealer only when absolutely necessary, you probably won't be disappointed. If you could create a list of used Rover model years / engines that you've found to be pretty reliable, that would be very helpful. Thank you for making this video!
I have to agree, I have a 2000 Range Rover p38 diesel and yes it's had a few jobs done but only because it's been in storage for 6 years before I got it and poor maintenance by a previous owner, as a mechanic myself I've done a lot myself and only given a couple of jobs to an apartment specialist, there are many videos and plenty of owners clubs that will help you because they understand the cars, I'm now thinking about another P38 next year but a V8 petrol this time, fantastic cars and will serve you well if you look after them. 👍

I came a bit too late to the comment section but, just found your channel, love it, so i thought i'd snuck in my 2 cents as well: I've had my '07 sport hse with 3.6 tdv8 for about 10 years now, and this year it just passed 320k miles. Nothing had to be done to the engine, apart from the exhaust manifold and oil service. Mostly stupid electronic issues but nothing serious, apart from the famous air suspension fault. The gearbox just started being a bit wiggly, but it's been over 300k miles so, not a surprise. It went through whole Europe, Marocco, and some other places that i can't even recall. Never let me down. It's been in the family for those 10 years and i'm not even thinking about getting rid of it(Who would buy a 300k mile range rover anyway?). Honestly, if serviced well it's a great car.
My brother recently bought a 2007 2.7TDV6 HSE, which I've been tooling about in for the week. My normal car is a 2018 Merc GLE 350. I have thoroughly enjoyed my week of 'old skool' - the driving position in the RRS is far more comfortable, it lollops down the road with its lazy 6 speed slushmatic, and generally seems more suited to de-stressing the inevitable congestion on the roads wherever you go. Yes, there are a few downsides with a 100k car - the suspension bangs and thumps, so some new bushes would be nice, and a few bits of trim are a bit tired, but it's all fixable, and not doom and gloom in any way. Not sure I 'get' the opening boot glass, and would rather have a split tailgate like a full fat range rover, the sat nav is laughably yesterday's technology, but no different to another 14 year old car. Heated seats warm up to roasting nice and quickly, and the fuel economy with a mix of cold running, a bit of motorway, and lots of traffic work is better than the Merc. I've been wondering what to do when the Merc's PCP finishes next year .... current plan is to hand it back to merc, and go old skool. I daren't do the maths on what the Merc really costs me per month, but I bet it's far more with a used Range Rover and a few bob put aside for the inevitable rainy day. Keep the vids coming, Matt - always great to watch, no matter what's being reviewed.
Range Rover videos make me so happy as I enjoy the videos more. I've just purchased a 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.6 TDV8 HSE and it is by far the best car I've ever purchased.
I had one of these for nearly 10 years from new and about 35,000 miles if I recall. I estimate that I spent maybe £3000 on repairs (excluding routine maintenance), including a new turbo actuator and a new steering pump. Annual servicing was generally about £700. For Bluetooth streaming, I bought a Bovee device (£100 ish) that plugs into the factory iPod cable in centre armrest. Osram do daytime running lamps that replace the OEM fog lamps, LEDFOG101, and I highly recommend this upgrade.
I remember watching your Disco Sport review when I was looking for a new car. I went ahead and bought one. I love it - first family friendly car I've owned that actually feels special.
Bought one two years ago and for any issues I’ve had I love driving it. The negative comments from people are usually due to jealousy but I just ignore them.
Great review. I've rented a few Range Rovers in the past year on trips. Loved both! First one was a 2016 Sport HSE (Diesel). Last one a 2020 Velar R-Dynamic. Both handled and drove amazing. Interior quality, technology & comfort was awesome. The Velar felt more like a sportscar when I got it up in the turns off Pacific Coast Hwy in the canyon mountains! The Sport was a little bigger & felt even more "solid". Not sure which one I'm going to buy, but one will be in my driveway soon!

Had a 2012 for 2 years...awesome motorway drive ....BUT you are constantly waiting for the orange lights to come on...and when they do...it costs.... Dont ask’ Can I afford to buy one’..Ask ‘Can I afford to repair one when it breaks’ 80k miles is the absolute cut off to get rid of one !

We’ve had 5 in the passed 7 years or so, and as long as you look after it and regularly service them and make sure everything’s going alright on them, there’s no issues, it’s usually people that don’t necessarily take care of it
That is 100% true doh... People thinks cars are seald for life and never needs service. And sone idiots think the MOT is the servicestation and here in sweden we do MOT every 14 months

I know the pain and pleasure of owning a land rover Discovery TD 5. 7 grand to buy nearly 7 grand to care for, that's servicing, maintenance and fixing her every other month. Doris was with us five years. would we go for the RR Sport...oh God yes! They are like huge puppies...they crap in places you wouldn't believe. chew your favourite shoes, and yet despite those issues you'd love it no matter...that my friends is Range Rover/Land Rover ownership 😊

Well from one of your loyal followers from virtually the start, I think this Range Rover Sport would make an ideal camper-car, stripped out and rebuilt interior and far cheaper than a modern, say 5 year old camper-van, as after all modern technology allows the freedom to expand, both in terms of live-ability and luxury at the expensive end. I went to a local Land Rover dealer because they had a 2019 X5 x50 on the lot. It had some cosmetic issues. I asked the rep what else he had to show me optioned out as the X5. He said let me check. Pulled up with at CPO 2020 RR Sport HSE. RR was not on my radar. Took it for a drive. Wow! This was last Saturday. Started researching and came across your channel after sorting through others. Your reviews outstanding. Today, I test drove a CPO 2019 X5 x50. Loaded right color combo and good price. Loved the car. Driving home contemplating my decision and ready to buy the BMW. Safe decision for me. RR rep called. We spoke and talked numbers among other things. I needed to drive the RR again. Once I sat in it for a 2nd time. I knew. Got it on the highway. More than enough power and acceleration for me. Your reviews definitely helped me out of my comfort zone. Pick up the RR next Monday. Thank you.
I used to be a RangeRover Sport hater. But after driving a 2012 model with all the bells and whistles, I fell in love with it. It's such a nice car to drive. Somehow, it manages to have both a comfortable ride and be very maneuverable at the same time. Want mine in black with drug dealer wheels and red interior!
I was that 🤏 close to buying one of these. Thought ill call a couple of indy RR mechanics to see what to look out for other than what I already knew. Both of them, who also own RRSports said basically they are shit but just have some magic about them so buy one, cross your fingers and get a good warranty. One mechanic said he has a warranty on his own rrs as he doesn't want to pay for parts when it breaks. Despite this I still want one 🤷♂️🤯😀
Congratulations on 2 years, it has gone quickly. Keep going it has been great to watch you develop in that time and the greatest thing about you is authenticity! You are knowledgeable but so are lots of other people but you are far more watchable than the majority of big budget reviewers because you are real! And you are right about buying Range Rover but I won't be doing it anytime soon because I can't afford it! So I'll stick with my Beamer thank you very much!

Great video. Sold my supercharged Range Rover two months ago and yes I had all the usual air compressor issues and my LR3 had the same. The power from the V8 was awesome and yes that feeling of pride when driving was definitely there.
Had my 2010 HSE for 18 months, bought it after watching your first video and have never looked back. You’re absolutely right that every time I get in it I remember why I don’t drive anything else. I’d only sell it to get a newer one but in my opinion it’s the best shape. Always starts on the button and no major issues whatsoever. Obviously now I’ve said that it’ll probably explode tomorrow but you best believe I’ll just buy another one because I’ve had Audi’s and BMW’s and they don’t come close.
How’s the RR holding up? Me too am use to driving BMW ‘s for past 20 years and time to try something different. I’ve purchased a 2013 RR HSE supper which only has 59,000 miles in mint condition. Decided to go 2013 as I love the body style better than the newer ones. Also added the extended bumper to bumper warranty just in case. Looking forward to taking delivery when it arrives
Brilliant Review. I Worked for Land Rover for 13 years in California and sold a s**T load of these when they came out. They at the time genuinely save Land Rover as an entity in the US as we were getting destroyed by X5, ML500’s and most worryingly Cayennes. but the Sport kicked Ass. It looked good it drove well, the coach work and quality of the materials were outstanding and it was $30k cheaper than it’s bigger brother. But the most important thing is this…. In all my years in sales I never had one customer, not one come back to me and say “I wish I never bought this car” Not Once !!
All the service things are exactly what I did when I bought my XF 18 months ago, that was after watching your review on them BTW. I know it's gonna cost me, but I'll do whatever I can to prevent.

A realistic and pragmatic appraisal. I live in Canada. The Jaguar Land Rover garages are very expensive around $300 pr hour, but they know what they're doing. There are other places with expertise over this brand. You just need to be careful where you take your Jag or Range Rover. It's very expensive to take it somewhere cheap and they don't fix the problem but you get the bill anyway and have to take it somewhere else. In Canada sadly we don't tend to get the diesel options, well I haven't seen any on the older models. Funny thing is, plenty of X5's here that are diesel. Diesel options would be popular here. This is what UA-cam is all about, every now and then you come across such a refreshing, informative, entertaining car video, cheers! Difficult to find some straightforward buying advice from someone who actually knows about these cars
I think that the "reliability issues" are overstated for jaguars and land rovers, with a lot of that being bad press from the mericans due to their different ways of using cars and ill guess that servicing just costs more over there, I believe that both jags and land rovers are for people who like driving and not just using a car to get from A to B and understands that cars have to be regulary serviced, thats why you see the old man down the street still has that 80s jag with over 200k on the clock and every other month on a sunday he tears down the engine and cleans it all up on his driveway.
The interior, driving position, and external looks are sublime. I've been looking at Lexus RX350 of the same era, which are far more reliable, but their interiors are dated. So it's driving pleasure vs reliability.
Saw this video and took the advice literally. Just picked up a 12/13 face lift Black Edition in white with the SDV6 and 8 speed gearbox. It’s done just under 60k on the clock and has had anything done when needed. Thank you for the guides! 👌🙌

This video is my first on the channel, I could say UA-cam has brought me here in the perfect time. I almost bought a 2013 Mercedes Benz GLK as I had written off my beloved 2010 Range Rover Sport fantasy due to everyone polarising my thoughts with reliability concerns. The 2013 Mercedes GLK is the closest thing style wise, that I could compare to the feeling of a Range Rover Sport in my opinion, but I also feel the Mercedes GLK is even more comparable to a Range Rover Evoque due to its smaller size and lower sitting position, rather than a Range Rover Sport, so the GLK was great but not so thrilling for me, coming from a Lexus RX 350, so I think I'm gonna switch back to my Range Rover pursuit and prepare to face all it's potential shortcomings in the future. Thank you for this video, It's so real and informative I feel it's underrated.

Qashqai,s are Renault running gear that’s why they break down, they are as much Japanese as the queen of united Britain, let’s be honest if you want to run a Range Rover and enjoy it to its full potential you’d need a good warranty or a few quid tucked away for that inevitable day when a light comes on the dash or the air suspension explodes
Except Renaults seldom break down. I have a 2001 CLIO. I worked for RENAULT since 2011 have driven lots of them. Had a 2005 Megane ii 1.5dci that never got me sleeping in the streets or broke down.
Your comment re being a lottery winner is so true. I am on my second Land Rover, firstly Freelander 1 and now Discovery Sport 1 and having owned over 20 other cars over the years it is the only marque that gives me a certain feeling of being satisfied and smiling every time I drive them.
Lovely looking car this. I love the white and black trim exterior combination, though prefer the lighter interior colours myself. At £12-13k this looks like another bargain. A serious amount of car for the money! Congrats on the two year anniversary 👍. Here's to many more.

They are very similar in terms of the gear and mechanics, Disco may be more practical for some, but I just love my RRS even though sometimes I could use a couple extra seats or more room in the trunk :)
The most realistic assessment for what has been the noise surrounding Land Rover reliability - broke people buying them wishing for the best outcome but not prepared for the higher expense of regular maintenance. I've owned just about every brand and they all have quirks and bugs, some more than others but each has trade offs and the driving experience of a LR is something you can't fully explain to someone who hasn't driven multiple cars to compare. It is it's own thing that comes with trade offs, like a prettier girl vs well you know. 🙂

Never. As long as you turn the car on and don’t Rev is straight away and allow it to idle before you turn it off. I’ve have 4 turbo charged cars up to 100k miles and never had an issue.
Should you buy a used Range Rover? YES you should!!! Buy a great TDV8 in good conditions with excellent service history and low mileage for 10-15k and you buy REAL value for money! Forget anything else 😎👌

I am thinking about considering a 2012 LR4. Never owned a LR but everything I read and hear about them is a mix bag. I have owned several European cars and currently own a 2020 GX460, and a 2006 Lexus GS430. Hard to beat Lexus reliability but they are so boring. I am from Karachi...haven't been there since 2012 but didn't know that there were Range Rover/Land Rovers there.
Great review and beautiful car. My XF spent 8 months in the garage last year due to an electrical fault that even the engineers calling in from Germany just struggled to fix. Got there in the end and cost a little under £2k in ransom money before it was released! - but it was a well serviced car and the fault was completely out of my control. Your recommendation to keep some notes back for such rainy days is a great shout. I wanna get me an RR now.
I had an XF myself, lovely to look at and drive but nicknamed gremlin because of all the random electrical niggles. FSH and I had it looked at by one of the best specialists in the UK bur random faults are just that.

Just reluctantly parted company with my 2011 RRS. Apart from general running costs, it was as good as gold for five years. One of the best cars I have ever had.
@@ianday5583 You know what Ian. I have never concerned myself with J D Power or any other surveys. The result is I have enjoyed various Land Rover cars for the best part of 30 years.

Would I like one? No, would I like to throw money at it when it all goes wrong, certainly not, having had R,R;s in the past if you get a lemon they'll empty your wallet in a heartbeat.
Im on my second Rangey. First was an 02 p38 now an 06 4.4 jag v8 sport... I live rural in OZ and let me tell ya this is their natural environment. Superb off roader, I bash around the paddocks chasing cows cross flooded creeks with big boulders then hose it off n go swank around Byron Bay.... Done all the usual fixes myself. Did the gearbox flush n fluids at 150k,s.... thats a must... ive got the iig diagnostic tool and thats saved me thousands.... Sevvice em , look after em n give em whats needed, lotsa goid blogs n stuff on you tube to help..... Im a fan , next on my want list is a good low km 2010 5.5 v8 supercharged. Rangeys are the Most capable allround car ever. If your not handy and a boof head dont get one.

Re costs: I was unfortunate to have to shell out £600 very early on for fuel tank sensor failure. Just paid it and moved on! In no way detracting from the smile, EVERY time I jump in the car. Just replaced the pads myself. Noticed a wobble in the wheel bearing. Ordered a new one and going to replace it tomorrow! 4 new tyres last week. No regrets whatsoever! I'm not a mechanic but know my way around a spanner. I'm not wealthy, but a realistic.
I've spent 30k miles, enjoying every mile. 4 hr journeys to Plymouth & Padstow just fly by. The seats (in conjunction with the ride) are the most comfortable i think I've ever had! For my bad back, the heated seats are just so good.
My one downside- internal storage, door pockets etc- shocking! But then, we do have a fridge!🤣🤣 Yes, full Bluetooth is missing, but I use the aux input tethered to my phone. A realist finds a workaround! Never been happier!
I've just bought my first Range Rover. It was a long time coming. In the end your comment: "What are you going to do? Never buy the car you want because it might break-down?" played a deciding role. I followed all your general advice about buying a used car. Bought from a respectable house. Meticulously documented service history and evidence that whenever something needed doing, he got it done. Some of the bills were scary but at least he paid them. And the radio was tuned to Radio 4! LOL. Finally, I didn't buy the cheapest one out there. I tried to buy a good one. It's a 2008 2.7 HSE which I know isn't anybody's first pick (93,000 miles) but all the above swung it over the couple of other offerings locally. So this will be my RR introduction. I might get it out of my system and move on, and it might be the first of many. Thanks for all the advice and guidance.

I’ve done 130k miles in my RRS TDV6 MY2010 and had to do the turbos at 90k miles and the air suspension sensor at 120k miles. Otherwise she’s been a very reliable car and regularly tows a trailer off road. Low range gearbox is a must for me.
More than happy with my 2011 range rover autobiography sport, had it jyst over a year and its the best move I made. I had it fully serviced, brake discs an pads, suspension, timing belt done as a precaution and this paid dividends. Car runs a dream and is a pleasure to drive. I don't regret one bit buying this.

I’ve always wanted a Range Rover but been scared off by the potential costs and people making faces when I say I’m interested in one. I agree with you 100% servicing and preventative maintenance are the key as they are with most cars. I just need to find one at the right price and one that’s been looked after.
I own a 2012 HSE and it's a beauty. Been reliable so far, but I look after it. Every time I drive it or drive other people anywhere I feel safer than I've been in any other car, and that's just something that's worth the whole experience.
i had a 2011 hse hit a tree going almost 50mph because someone cut me off the highway and came out completely unscathed except with backlash and stretch nerves and muscles i don’t think any other car can take hitting a tree at almost 50 and coming to a dead stop and keep everyone person safe

You're one of the few UA-camrs who aren't trashing Range Rovers! I have a 2001 P38 Range Rover and the worst thing was a head gasket blew. I did the work myself because there was enough help on the Internet to get through it. If you check all of the costs that I have had and divide it by 19 years, it's actually been pretty affordable. As long as you're handy mechanically and go to the dealer only when absolutely necessary, you probably won't be disappointed.
If you could create a list of used Rover model years / engines that you've found to be pretty reliable, that would be very helpful. Thank you for making this video!

I have to agree, I have a 2000 Range Rover p38 diesel and yes it's had a few jobs done but only because it's been in storage for 6 years before I got it and poor maintenance by a previous owner, as a mechanic myself I've done a lot myself and only given a couple of jobs to an apartment specialist, there are many videos and plenty of owners clubs that will help you because they understand the cars, I'm now thinking about another P38 next year but a V8 petrol this time, fantastic cars and will serve you well if you look after them. 👍

I came a bit too late to the comment section but, just found your channel, love it, so i thought i'd snuck in my 2 cents as well: I've had my '07 sport hse with 3.6 tdv8 for about 10 years now, and this year it just passed 320k miles. Nothing had to be done to the engine, apart from the exhaust manifold and oil service. Mostly stupid electronic issues but nothing serious, apart from the famous air suspension fault. The gearbox just started being a bit wiggly, but it's been over 300k miles so, not a surprise. It went through whole Europe, Marocco, and some other places that i can't even recall. Never let me down. It's been in the family for those 10 years and i'm not even thinking about getting rid of it(Who would buy a 300k mile range rover anyway?). Honestly, if serviced well it's a great car.
My brother recently bought a 2007 2.7TDV6 HSE, which I've been tooling about in for the week. My normal car is a 2018 Merc GLE 350. I have thoroughly enjoyed my week of 'old skool' - the driving position in the RRS is far more comfortable, it lollops down the road with its lazy 6 speed slushmatic, and generally seems more suited to de-stressing the inevitable congestion on the roads wherever you go. Yes, there are a few downsides with a 100k car - the suspension bangs and thumps, so some new bushes would be nice, and a few bits of trim are a bit tired, but it's all fixable, and not doom and gloom in any way. Not sure I 'get' the opening boot glass, and would rather have a split tailgate like a full fat range rover, the sat nav is laughably yesterday's technology, but no different to another 14 year old car. Heated seats warm up to roasting nice and quickly, and the fuel economy with a mix of cold running, a bit of motorway, and lots of traffic work is better than the Merc.
I've been wondering what to do when the Merc's PCP finishes next year .... current plan is to hand it back to merc, and go old skool. I daren't do the maths on what the Merc really costs me per month, but I bet it's far more with a used Range Rover and a few bob put aside for the inevitable rainy day.

I had one of these for nearly 10 years from new and about 35,000 miles if I recall. I estimate that I spent maybe £3000 on repairs (excluding routine maintenance), including a new turbo actuator and a new steering pump. Annual servicing was generally about £700. For Bluetooth streaming, I bought a Bovee device (£100 ish) that plugs into the factory iPod cable in centre armrest. Osram do daytime running lamps that replace the OEM fog lamps, LEDFOG101, and I highly recommend this upgrade.
My land rover ownership was a real education.....taught me to be a mechanic. No complaints...love them to bits

Bought one two years ago and for any issues I’ve had I love driving it. The negative comments from people are usually due to jealousy but I just ignore them.

Great review. I've rented a few Range Rovers in the past year on trips. Loved both! First one was a 2016 Sport HSE (Diesel). Last one a 2020 Velar R-Dynamic. Both handled and drove amazing. Interior quality, technology & comfort was awesome. The Velar felt more like a sportscar when I got it up in the turns off Pacific Coast Hwy in the canyon mountains! The Sport was a little bigger & felt even more "solid". Not sure which one I'm going to buy, but one will be in my driveway soon!

We’ve had 5 in the passed 7 years or so, and as long as you look after it and regularly service them and make sure everything’s going alright on them, there’s no issues, it’s usually people that don’t necessarily take care of it

I know the pain and pleasure of owning a land rover Discovery TD 5. 7 grand to buy nearly 7 grand to care for, that's servicing, maintenance and fixing her every other month. Doris was with us five years. would we go for the RR Sport...oh God yes!
They are like huge puppies...they crap in places you wouldn't believe. chew your favourite shoes, and yet despite those issues you'd love it no matter...that my friends is Range Rover/Land Rover ownership 😊

Well from one of your loyal followers from virtually the start, I think this Range Rover Sport would make an ideal camper-car, stripped out and rebuilt interior and far cheaper than a modern, say 5 year old camper-van, as after all modern technology allows the freedom to expand, both in terms of live-ability and luxury at the expensive end. Cheers Matt for showing us this and allowing me to have another rant.

I went to a local Land Rover dealer because they had a 2019 X5 x50 on the lot. It had some cosmetic issues. I asked the rep what else he had to show me optioned out as the X5. He said let me check. Pulled up with at CPO 2020 RR Sport HSE. RR was not on my radar. Took it for a drive. Wow! This was last Saturday. Started researching and came across your channel after sorting through others. Your reviews outstanding. Today, I test drove a CPO 2019 X5 x50. Loaded right color combo and good price. Loved the car. Driving home contemplating my decision and ready to buy the BMW. Safe decision for me. RR rep called. We spoke and talked numbers among other things. I needed to drive the RR again. Once I sat in it for a 2nd time. I knew. Got it on the highway. More than enough power and acceleration for me. Your reviews definitely helped me out of my comfort zone. Pick up the RR next Monday. Thank you.

I used to be a RangeRover Sport hater. But after driving a 2012 model with all the bells and whistles, I fell in love with it. It's such a nice car to drive. Somehow, it manages to have both a comfortable ride and be very maneuverable at the same time.

I was that 🤏 close to buying one of these. Thought ill call a couple of indy RR mechanics to see what to look out for other than what I already knew.
Both of them, who also own RRSports said basically they are shit but just have some magic about them so buy one, cross your fingers and get a good warranty. One mechanic said he has a warranty on his own rrs as he doesn't want to pay for parts when it breaks. Despite this I still want one 🤷♂️🤯😀

Great video. Sold my supercharged Range Rover two months ago and yes I had all the usual air compressor issues and my LR3 had the same. The power from the V8 was awesome and yes that feeling of pride when driving was definitely there.

Had my 2010 HSE for 18 months, bought it after watching your first video and have never looked back. You’re absolutely right that every time I get in it I remember why I don’t drive anything else. I’d only sell it to get a newer one but in my opinion it’s the best shape. Always starts on the button and no major issues whatsoever. Obviously now I’ve said that it’ll probably explode tomorrow but you best believe I’ll just buy another one because I’ve had Audi’s and BMW’s and they don’t come close.
Its not all about money! A peace of mind is good when owning a car.
How’s the RR holding up? Me too am use to driving BMW ‘s for past 20 years and time to try something different. I’ve purchased a 2013 RR HSE supper which only has 59,000 miles in mint condition. Decided to go 2013 as I love the body style better than the newer ones. Also added the extended bumper to bumper warranty just in case. Looking forward to taking delivery when it arrives

Brilliant Review. I Worked for Land Rover for 13 years in California and sold a s**T load of these when they came out. They at the time genuinely save Land Rover as an entity in the US as we were getting destroyed by X5, ML500’s and most worryingly Cayennes. but the Sport kicked Ass. It looked good it drove well, the coach work and quality of the materials were outstanding and it was $30k cheaper than it’s bigger brother. But the most important thing is this…. In all my years in sales I never had one customer, not one come back to me and say “I wish I never bought this car” Not Once !!
All the service things are exactly what I did when I bought my XF 18 months ago, that was after watching your review on them BTW. I know it's gonna cost me, but I'll do whatever I can to prevent.

They are the Apple of cars but without any quality control.
A realistic and pragmatic appraisal. I live in Canada. The Jaguar Land Rover garages are very expensive around $300 pr hour, but they know what they're doing. There are other places with expertise over this brand. You just need to be careful where you take your Jag or Range Rover. It's very expensive to take it somewhere cheap and they don't fix the problem but you get the bill anyway and have to take it somewhere else. In Canada sadly we don't tend to get the diesel options, well I haven't seen any on the older models. Funny thing is, plenty of X5's here that are diesel. Diesel options would be popular here. I think that the "reliability issues" are overstated for jaguars and land rovers, with a lot of that being bad press from the mericans due to their different ways of using cars and ill guess that servicing just costs more over there, I believe that both jags and land rovers are for people who like driving and not just using a car to get from A to B and understands that cars have to be regulary serviced, thats why you see the old man down the street still has that 80s jag with over 200k on the clock and every other month on a sunday he tears down the engine and cleans it all up on his driveway.

The interior, driving position, and external looks are sublime. I've been looking at Lexus RX350 of the same era, which are far more reliable, but their interiors are dated. So it's driving pleasure vs reliability.
I loved these when they first came out, like an X5 moment from 2000.
I'd love to see you do an honest review on a P38. Every forum tells me not to buy one, but thats the charm with rangies i guess.
Saw this video and took the advice literally. Just picked up a 12/13 face lift Black Edition in white with the SDV6 and 8 speed gearbox. It’s done just under 60k on the clock and has had anything done when needed. Thank you for the guides! 👌🙌

This video is my first on the channel, I could say UA-cam has brought me here in the perfect time.
I almost bought a 2013 Mercedes Benz GLK as I had written off my beloved 2010 Range Rover Sport fantasy due to everyone polarising my thoughts with reliability concerns.
The 2013 Mercedes GLK is the closest thing style wise, that I could compare to the feeling of a Range Rover Sport in my opinion, but I also feel the Mercedes GLK is even more comparable to a Range Rover Evoque due to its smaller size and lower sitting position, rather than a Range Rover Sport, so the GLK was great but not so thrilling for me, coming from a Lexus RX 350, so I think I'm gonna switch back to my Range Rover pursuit and prepare to face all it's potential shortcomings in the future.

Qashqai,s are Renault running gear that’s why they break down, they are as much Japanese as the queen of united Britain, let’s be honest if you want to run a Range Rover and enjoy it to its full potential you’d need a good warranty or a few quid tucked away for that inevitable day when a light comes on the dash or the air suspension explodes
Except Renaults seldom break down. I have a 2001 CLIO. I worked for RENAULT since 2011 have driven lots of them. Had a 2005 Megane ii 1.5dci that never got me sleeping in the streets or broke down.

One of these, or a Discovery 4? I’ve wanted a RR for years, this has made my mind up.
They are very similar in terms of the gear and mechanics, Disco may be more practical for some, but I just love my RRS even though sometimes I could use a couple extra seats or more room in the trunk :)
The most realistic assessment for what has been the noise surrounding Land Rover reliability - broke people buying them wishing for the best outcome but not prepared for the higher expense of regular maintenance. I've owned just about every brand and they all have quirks and bugs, some more than others but each has trade offs and the driving experience of a LR is something you can't fully explain to someone who hasn't driven multiple cars to compare. It is it's own thing that comes with trade offs, like a prettier girl vs well you know. 🙂

Never. As long as you turn the car on and don’t Rev is straight away and allow it to idle before you turn it off. I’ve have 4 turbo charged cars up to 100k miles and never had an issue.

I am thinking about considering a 2012 LR4. Never owned a LR but everything I read and hear about them is a mix bag. I have owned several European cars and currently own a 2020 GX460, and a 2006 Lexus GS430. Hard to beat Lexus reliability but they are so boring.
I am from Karachi...haven't been there since 2012 but didn't know that there were Range Rover/Land Rovers there.
Great review and beautiful car. My XF spent 8 months in the garage last year due to an electrical fault that even the engineers calling in from Germany just struggled to fix. Got there in the end and cost a little under £2k in ransom money before it was released! - but it was a well serviced car and the fault was completely out of my control. Your recommendation to keep some notes back for such rainy days is a great shout. I wanna get me an RR now.
I had an XF myself, lovely to look at and drive but nicknamed gremlin because of all the random electrical niggles. FSH and I had it looked at by one of the best specialists in the UK bur random faults are just that.
Some good hard truths there! So heres one for you, NEVER wear them Jean's again!! .A mans knees should only be seen in shorts of some kind. Other than the offending garment! GREAT VID👍🏽

Should you buy the worst car in the J D Powers survey EVERY YEAR.I think not.
Just reluctantly parted company with my 2011 RRS. Apart from general running costs, it was as good as gold for five years. One of the best cars I have ever had.
@@ianday5583 You know what Ian. I have never concerned myself with J D Power or any other surveys. The result is I have enjoyed various Land Rover cars for the best part of 30 years.
@@colinclarke7957 I suppose it didn't cross Ian Day's mind that a company that makes ONLY high tech 4x4 vehicles is not going to perform as well in reliability surveys as a company that mainly makes mind numbing 4 cylinder cars with decades old tech like Toyota does.

Would I like one? No, would I like to throw money at it when it all goes wrong, certainly not, having had R,R;s in the past if you get a lemon they'll empty your wallet in a heartbeat.

Im on my second Rangey. First was an 02 p38 now an 06 4.4 jag v8 sport... I live rural in OZ and let me tell ya this is their natural environment. Superb off roader, I bash around the paddocks chasing cows cross flooded creeks with big boulders then hose it off n go swank around Byron Bay.... Done all the usual fixes myself. Did the gearbox flush n fluids at 150k,s.... thats a must... ive got the iig diagnostic tool and thats saved me thousands.... Sevvice em , look after em n give em whats needed, lotsa goid blogs n stuff on you tube to help..... Im a fan , next on my want list is a good low km 2010 5.5 v8 supercharged. Rangeys are the Most capable allround car ever. If your not handy and a boof head dont get one.

you are great just bough tthe 2010 in sydney drove it home back to harrington nsw its a gem she got a few klms but that motor gets up and goes thank you brother, lots of carma for you brother
