Today marks two my two year anniversary on UA-cam. My first video was with a 2012 Range Rover Sport so naturally I thought it was fitting to feature another RRS. Here, I try and give some buying advice if you're in the market for a used model.

There is no sugarcoating here-just real cartalk. Love it.
Cheers
With regards to reliability he is sugercoating, that car is very unreliable. Dealers around were i stay struggle to get rid of these secondhand
Even the cheap price their sold for is frightening
@@John_code Thanks for your input. Nothing worth having is free- and driving a Range Rover is no exception. If you had watched more of the videos about Range Rovers you'd know that. He is not keeping it a secret, he is telling the truth about people who want to show what they don't have and are cheap when it comes to service. I'd love to know if you had a first hand experience or if your mate from the pub who drives an astra g told you about the one time he red somwhere a comment on the internet. There is a man who puts his reputation and business on the line here and i believe him way more than some in the comment section. Thanks for reading.
@@bertbertson23 I do understand expense its a matter of relatively overall , to some the amount to maintain this is nothing . I have friends who own and used to own them and I know their mechanics who work at Land rover and service them as well.
They all recommend if I consider buying one I should get it new only.
Their explanation is the way the car devalues and the expenses on it as it ages are not worth it.
And belive me non of them are near broke. They just tired of having to through the car back to the dealer on a frequent. Sometimes people at land rover can't even diagnose their own vehicle
Again I'm in South Africa and we go serious off road with our SUV , obviously if you going to use the vehicle around town and this applies to any vehicle, its going to give you little problems
Genuinely wealthy people use the vehicle as intended comfortably and are not cautious about expenses.
There is a good reason why this car can't hold its value mate and he can't compare a Merc that holds its value and is a much more robust machine
@@HighPeakAutos well said fella! 14mths ago i bought the 2010 face-lift RRS Hse 3l V6 @ 103k miles with cam belt just done. Great service history.
Re costs: I was unfortunate to have to shell out £600 very early on for fuel tank sensor failure. Just paid it and moved on! In no way detracting from the smile, EVERY time I jump in the car. Just replaced the pads myself. Noticed a wobble in the wheel bearing. Ordered a new one and going to replace it tomorrow! 4 new tyres last week. No regrets whatsoever! I'm not a mechanic but know my way around a spanner. I'm not wealthy, but a realistic.
I've spent 30k miles, enjoying every mile. 4 hr journeys to Plymouth & Padstow just fly by. The seats (in conjunction with the ride) are the most comfortable i think I've ever had! For my bad back, the heated seats are just so good.
My one downside- internal storage, door pockets etc- shocking! But then, we do have a fridge!🤣🤣 Yes, full Bluetooth is missing, but I use the aux input tethered to my phone. A realist finds a workaround! Never been happier!
I've just bought my first Range Rover. It was a long time coming. In the end your comment: "What are you going to do? Never buy the car you want because it might break-down?" played a deciding role. I followed all your general advice about buying a used car. Bought from a respectable house. Meticulously documented service history and evidence that whenever something needed doing, he got it done. Some of the bills were scary but at least he paid them. And the radio was tuned to Radio 4! LOL. Finally, I didn't buy the cheapest one out there. I tried to buy a good one. It's a 2008 2.7 HSE which I know isn't anybody's first pick (93,000 miles) but all the above swung it over the couple of other offerings locally. So this will be my RR introduction. I might get it out of my system and move on, and it might be the first of many. Thanks for all the advice and guidance.
Very nice. Congrats
Hey, how is your Range Rover experience going please?
"Service it you idiot!" - just great advice, and yet another excellent review, sensible and unshowy. Top drawer stuff!
Haha thanks
That is 100% true doh...
People thinks cars are seald for life and never needs service. And sone idiots think the MOT is the servicestation and here in sweden we do MOT every 14 months
All the Servicing in the World wouldn't make a Difference, You can't Pick a Turd up by the Clean End.
Why would you service it when you can buy another car for that money after 4 or 5 years and sell this one for nice money too. It's capitalism.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account..?
I somehow forgot my password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
This is EASILY the most superior review I've heard on RR, and among the best on any topic. Thanks very much.
Great video, we used to own a near identical one which made this even more enjoyable to watch as totally agree with every comment about this particular year of RRS, how enjoyable they are to own and just the way they make you feel. You’ve got me searching the classifieds again! Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Always love the honest , “best mate who owns one” reviews..
I’ve watched so many car reviews over the years , but this is brutally honest and massively informative !! Absolutely fantastic , many thanks
Thank you
I’ve done 130k miles in my RRS TDV6 MY2010 and had to do the turbos at 90k miles and the air suspension sensor at 120k miles. Otherwise she’s been a very reliable car and regularly tows a trailer off road. Low range gearbox is a must for me.
More than happy with my 2011 range rover autobiography sport, had it jyst over a year and its the best move I made. I had it fully serviced, brake discs an pads, suspension, timing belt done as a precaution and this paid dividends. Car runs a dream and is a pleasure to drive. I don't regret one bit buying this.
Do you still own your Rover? And still reliable?
Congratulations on 2 years of excellent content Matt. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!
Congratulations on 2 years, it has gone quickly. Keep going it has been great to watch you develop in that time and the greatest thing about you is authenticity! You are knowledgeable but so are lots of other people but you are far more watchable than the majority of big budget reviewers because you are real! And you are right about buying Range Rover but I won't be doing it anytime soon because I can't afford it! So I'll stick with my Beamer thank you very much!
Thanks. I appreciate it
Congratulations on the 2 year stint. Been with you from almost the beginning and fully enjoyed the ride.
Just... beautiful ✨ The presentation, the car, the realism... quite everything!
Keep it up, Matt! Very soon you'll have 100k 🙏
Thanks! I appreciate the support. Cheers
I remember watching your Disco Sport review when I was looking for a new car. I went ahead and bought one. I love it - first family friendly car I've owned that actually feels special.
Thank you mate for keeping at it, this anniversary video is one of my favourites. I have had my Sport 4.4 for five years and your description of ownership is exact.
Great to hear!
Forgot to congratulate you on passing the 2 year mark. Not supprised at all at the number of subscribers, really excellent car reviews, so informative and enjoyable to watch. Always pleased to see a new review 😃
I’ve always wanted a Range Rover but been scared off by the potential costs and people making faces when I say I’m interested in one. I agree with you 100% servicing and preventative maintenance are the key as they are with most cars. I just need to find one at the right price and one that’s been looked after.
I own a 2012 HSE and it's a beauty. Been reliable so far, but I look after it. Every time I drive it or drive other people anywhere I feel safer than I've been in any other car, and that's just something that's worth the whole experience.
i had a 2011 hse hit a tree going almost 50mph because someone cut me off the highway and came out completely unscathed except with backlash and stretch nerves and muscles i don’t think any other car can take hitting a tree at almost 50 and coming to a dead stop and keep everyone person safe
Your videos are great man. You're always on point, realistic and easy to listen to. Always like these videos man, cheers from Canada.
Congrats on the 2 years. Always look forward to the reviews
Another great video Matt, always look forward to them, I’m a fellow Range Rover fan and totally agree with you, best cars to own, still driving my 86 classic out here in Oz and love it. Keep up the great work, can’t wait for the next one 👍
Thanks 👍
Not a fan of the 4x4, but definitely agree you feel special when driving a Range Rover over the competition even the Porsche Cayenne
I have been watching from the start and will definitely be watching your channel for the foreseeable future, great channel, keep doing what your doing Matt 👏
This is what UA-cam is all about, every now and then you come across such a refreshing, informative, entertaining car video, cheers!
Difficult to find some straightforward buying advice from someone who actually knows about these cars
Great review. I've rented a few Range Rovers in the past year on trips. Loved both! First one was a 2016 Sport HSE (Diesel). Last one a 2020 Velar R-Dynamic. Both handled and drove amazing. Interior quality, technology & comfort was awesome. The Velar felt more like a sportscar when I got it up in the turns off Pacific Coast Hwy in the canyon mountains! The Sport was a little bigger & felt even more "solid". Not sure which one I'm going to buy, but one will be in my driveway soon!
Been here from day 1 and never seen a bad episode. Well done on your 2 years Matt
Mick
Cheers Mick!
Congratulations for the work you're doing on this channel! Keep up the good vibe!
Congratulations on 2yrs, I’ve really enjoyed all of your content.
Good anniversary choice of car and it’s totally true it’s a car that make you feel good driving it. And you’ll never want to be without a fridge again!!!
Haha thanks!
Never heard a truer word said about a RR... congrats on 2 years, I remember the first video.... 100k here you come
Was looking to maybe get one . As always good sound advice . And made more wanting one . Keep up good vids .
Brilliant video. Always love your style and the information presented in a down to earth and honest manner. When I finally do get my used range rover I will be in touch for sure!
happy anniversary Matt is it really two years that's flown been subbed before you had 1000 subs and mines tea no sugar and a new turbo ;)
I was just literally wondering this exact question yesterday. Thanks!
Haha Happy to help!
If I lived in a caravan I definitely have that.
I had one of these for nearly 10 years from new and about 35,000 miles if I recall. I estimate that I spent maybe £3000 on repairs (excluding routine maintenance), including a new turbo actuator and a new steering pump. Annual servicing was generally about £700. For Bluetooth streaming, I bought a Bovee device (£100 ish) that plugs into the factory iPod cable in centre armrest. Osram do daytime running lamps that replace the OEM fog lamps, LEDFOG101, and I highly recommend this upgrade.
every one of your videos has a snippet of fun and many great pointers - better than the telly every day of the week.
Thanks! I appreciate it
Just started looking at used Range Rover videos since I’m looking to buy one before the end of the year. I’ve watched a view videos now & yours are truly enjoyable- thank you!
I came a bit too late to the comment section but, just found your channel, love it, so i thought i'd snuck in my 2 cents as well: I've had my '07 sport hse with 3.6 tdv8 for about 10 years now, and this year it just passed 320k miles. Nothing had to be done to the engine, apart from the exhaust manifold and oil service. Mostly stupid electronic issues but nothing serious, apart from the famous air suspension fault. The gearbox just started being a bit wiggly, but it's been over 300k miles so, not a surprise. It went through whole Europe, Marocco, and some other places that i can't even recall. Never let me down. It's been in the family for those 10 years and i'm not even thinking about getting rid of it(Who would buy a 300k mile range rover anyway?). Honestly, if serviced well it's a great car.
Had a 2012 for 2 years...awesome motorway drive ....BUT you are constantly waiting for the orange lights to come on...and when they do...it costs....
Dont ask’ Can I afford to buy one’..Ask ‘Can I afford to repair one when it breaks’
80k miles is the absolute cut off to get rid of one !
Really? I’ve Mercedes ml350 2009 petrol and wanted to sell and buy a rAnge rover sport 2010 but I’m scared
@@bekabeka71 id consider ( if your interested) a Lexus Rx450h or the rx400h
Both great cars and pretty reliable
@@bekabeka71 yes get one I had a 2010 and would still have it if I had not had an accident and written it off second best car I have owned, the best is current 2012 sport 😀
My land rover ownership was a real education.....taught me to be a mechanic. No complaints...love them to bits
Excellent review!
Your right !
Every time I take it out for a drive , I’m smiling 😀
You're one of the few UA-camrs who aren't trashing Range Rovers! I have a 2001 P38 Range Rover and the worst thing was a head gasket blew. I did the work myself because there was enough help on the Internet to get through it. If you check all of the costs that I have had and divide it by 19 years, it's actually been pretty affordable. As long as you're handy mechanically and go to the dealer only when absolutely necessary, you probably won't be disappointed.
If you could create a list of used Rover model years / engines that you've found to be pretty reliable, that would be very helpful. Thank you for making this video!
Many a handy mechanical footballer's wife was spotted under the hood of a Range Rover in Berkshire!
I have to agree, I have a 2000 Range Rover p38 diesel and yes it's had a few jobs done but only because it's been in storage for 6 years before I got it and poor maintenance by a previous owner, as a mechanic myself I've done a lot myself and only given a couple of jobs to an apartment specialist, there are many videos and plenty of owners clubs that will help you because they understand the cars, I'm now thinking about another P38 next year but a V8 petrol this time, fantastic cars and will serve you well if you look after them. 👍
@@aacmove or quite possibly the local builder’s significant other being handed spanners by her five beloved kids from a number of blended family relationships....
Nice feedback, actually encouraging..because as he said, it is the high repairing cost which makes the potential buyer to shy away from this classic car. have you taken any prior training forcar repairing of just the utube video? thnx
One of the best WHEELER DEALERS episodes it's Range Rover...Ed changed the kompresor And did facelift the front and full respray...great episode
Always love your reviews, genuine, honest, pleasant guy 👍🏻
ALADEENGB TV thanks!
Well done on 2 years of posting honest reviews with a touch of humour. Nice range rover and love the inside and over all appearance. Keep em coming.
Thanks, will do!
My brother recently bought a 2007 2.7TDV6 HSE, which I've been tooling about in for the week. My normal car is a 2018 Merc GLE 350. I have thoroughly enjoyed my week of 'old skool' - the driving position in the RRS is far more comfortable, it lollops down the road with its lazy 6 speed slushmatic, and generally seems more suited to de-stressing the inevitable congestion on the roads wherever you go. Yes, there are a few downsides with a 100k car - the suspension bangs and thumps, so some new bushes would be nice, and a few bits of trim are a bit tired, but it's all fixable, and not doom and gloom in any way. Not sure I 'get' the opening boot glass, and would rather have a split tailgate like a full fat range rover, the sat nav is laughably yesterday's technology, but no different to another 14 year old car. Heated seats warm up to roasting nice and quickly, and the fuel economy with a mix of cold running, a bit of motorway, and lots of traffic work is better than the Merc.
I've been wondering what to do when the Merc's PCP finishes next year .... current plan is to hand it back to merc, and go old skool. I daren't do the maths on what the Merc really costs me per month, but I bet it's far more with a used Range Rover and a few bob put aside for the inevitable rainy day.
Keep the vids coming, Matt - always great to watch, no matter what's being reviewed.
Range Rover videos make me so happy as I enjoy the videos more. I've just purchased a 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.6 TDV8 HSE and it is by far the best car I've ever purchased.
Congrats!
Deep pockets there Osman? :)
Give it time 😄
Any issues with your RR since buying it Osman?
Well done on 2 years mate, great job and here’s to the next 2!
Thanks!
Hi Matt,
Many congratulations on your two year anniversary. I have watched everyone of your video’s and have honestly enjoyed them all 👍
Thanks.
Tom.
Thanks 👍
2 years - seems like yesterday! Another great review. So tempted but family members have had nothing but trouble. My sisters last visit to a dealership cost her thousands.
They are Over Price Money Pits.
Admittedly Great Looking but forever waiting for an Expensive Fault which is not normally a long wait.
Great video. Sold my supercharged Range Rover two months ago and yes I had all the usual air compressor issues and my LR3 had the same. The power from the V8 was awesome and yes that feeling of pride when driving was definitely there.
Yeah I bet!
Cheers for another great video and congrats on the two year anniversary
I honestly like your synopsis of how you breakdown the sheer truth of analysing SUVs. I’m glad 🙂 I subscribed to your channel. Very educative and informative!!!
Thank you
Would love to see one of these for those crazy V10 Touaregs!
Even the 3.0 liter V6 is a golf on steroids
Well done Matt 👍🏼👏🏻 Great watch as always 👌🏼 Here’s the the next 2 years 🍻
Thanks! I appreciate it
Credit where credit is due 👍🏼😎
Congrats on 2 years Matt. Great Channel and interesting vids always
Thank you for having us. All the best t you from Gas Essex.
We’ve had 5 in the passed 7 years or so, and as long as you look after it and regularly service them and make sure everything’s going alright on them, there’s no issues, it’s usually people that don’t necessarily take care of it
You ve had 5 in 7 years? That s encouraging
16 months average per car isn't exactly a long time...
Lolllllllllllll 'bring us another brew, turbo's gone on't range rover again' 😂
Come on Irene, am gaspin' here. Spitting feathers...
@@HighPeakAutos nearly pissed myself at your comment in the video. Great channel
Haha cheers
Well done mate. Your video on the Jag xf made my mind up about getting one. Now my pride and joy. Keep it up, thanks👍🏻
Glad I could help
Whoever details your cars is really good at it. Happy 2nd birthday 🎂
Thank you!
All the service things are exactly what I did when I bought my XF 18 months ago, that was after watching your review on them BTW. I know it's gonna cost me, but I'll do whatever I can to prevent.
My favourite Range Rover. I love the styling on it. The interior seems like a very nice place to be. This and the P38 are my guilty pleasure cars.
Good choice!
P38 🤣🤪😆👀 .
'Another great concise, frank and interesting review. Congrats on the channel's anniversary. It remains one of the channels I return to regularly, time and time again, even when the vids relate to cars I have no intention of buying. 'Brilliant work!. Well done and thanks! :)
Much appreciated!
Has it really been 2 years? I think I've been here since the beginning not always commenting, just enjoying a like minded petrol head rabbit on about cars. Perfect! Thanks for the entertainment and long may it continue. Cheers
I know the pain and pleasure of owning a land rover Discovery TD 5. 7 grand to buy nearly 7 grand to care for, that's servicing, maintenance and fixing her every other month. Doris was with us five years. would we go for the RR Sport...oh God yes!
They are like huge puppies...they crap in places you wouldn't believe. chew your favourite shoes, and yet despite those issues you'd love it no matter...that my friends is Range Rover/Land Rover ownership 😊
I'd love to see you do an honest review on a P38. Every forum tells me not to buy one, but thats the charm with rangies i guess.
No bullshit, just proper on point talk. Best car I have ever had. I love mine.
This guy is so down to earth and he says it as it is, keep up the great work
Thanks!
Lovely looking car this. I love the white and black trim exterior combination, though prefer the lighter interior colours myself. At £12-13k this looks like another bargain. A serious amount of car for the money! Congrats on the two year anniversary 👍. Here's to many more.
Thanks! I appreciate it
The interior, driving position, and external looks are sublime. I've been looking at Lexus RX350 of the same era, which are far more reliable, but their interiors are dated. So it's driving pleasure vs reliability.
Brilliant honest up front videos 👍
Congratulations on the second anniversary of your channel. another great review, not my kind of car, but you gave the most sensible advice for any device, service it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@HighPeakAutos to be truthful i enjoy all of your videos. you have something which is both easy and relaxing to watch, informative, yet with a cheeky wit. all of these qualities make it an instant watch when the notification turns up. a great credit to your style and manner as a person in general.
Gary Martin thanks! I appreciate the feedback
I was that 🤏 close to buying one of these. Thought ill call a couple of indy RR mechanics to see what to look out for other than what I already knew.
Both of them, who also own RRSports said basically they are shit but just have some magic about them so buy one, cross your fingers and get a good warranty. One mechanic said he has a warranty on his own rrs as he doesn't want to pay for parts when it breaks. Despite this I still want one 🤷♂️🤯😀
Bought one two years ago and for any issues I’ve had I love driving it. The negative comments from people are usually due to jealousy but I just ignore them.
Thats quite right
Another great review Matt, I have watched them from the start, they are always very informative and entertaining. As I am sure you know there is one Landrover model that you are yet to do a video on. Fingers crossed you will get one done soon 🤞🏻
Great and honest review! Love your channel and find it a daily inspiration. All the best to you Mat! Best, Richard

We should have a whip round to buy you some new jeans.
Or a Used pair of jeans and review them. lol
Sir, this is called: Fashion!
The jeans go well with the high 'peeks' label...
Those jeans with the rips cost more than those without
A lot of people have opinions, very few have style......
For a 10 year old car, those Range Rovers hold their value quite well
Probaly because over 10 Years they have been Virtually Rebuilt with one Fault after another. LandRover are utter Garbage I made the mistake of buying into their Rubbish Full Service History the Works and within two Days on the back of Recovery it was one Disaster after another NEVER AGAIN.
They are the Apple of cars but without any quality control.
Another top revue of a top car, in fact THE top car! well done Matt.
Many thanks for another excellent video.. took your advice and bought a TDV8 … in white .. loving it 👍🏻
One of these, or a Discovery 4? I’ve wanted a RR for years, this has made my mind up.
They are very similar in terms of the gear and mechanics, Disco may be more practical for some, but I just love my RRS even though sometimes I could use a couple extra seats or more room in the trunk :)
Thank the motoring gods you uploaded, I had nothing to do and might have resorted to actually talking to my gf. 😂
Haha heaven forbid
Love good honest reviews, keep the money aside rather than maxing out is such good advice, great channel
Well done Matt. Keep the reviews coming. Good watch and informative as always 👍
Thanks, will do!
“Nervous Nigel or Cautious Claude” 😂
You always look at home in a Range Rover in these videos.
Literally just got this exact car from the video Matt. Thanks for the review!
I’ve driven a few over the years and love them! Nice to hear straight talking.
Thanks!
I think that the "reliability issues" are overstated for jaguars and land rovers, with a lot of that being bad press from the mericans due to their different ways of using cars and ill guess that servicing just costs more over there, I believe that both jags and land rovers are for people who like driving and not just using a car to get from A to B and understands that cars have to be regulary serviced, thats why you see the old man down the street still has that 80s jag with over 200k on the clock and every other month on a sunday he tears down the engine and cleans it all up on his driveway.
SomeTechBloke no they are not, these are shit boxes
"how often do you change a turbo in a car". While my car is currently getting a new turbo. Fml
Same here on a Q7.
@Ross Bourne What is wrong with Australians? :D
Never. As long as you turn the car on and don’t Rev is straight away and allow it to idle before you turn it off. I’ve have 4 turbo charged cars up to 100k miles and never had an issue.
Excellent review, you put everything re Range Rover Sport and similar cars in proper perspective. I’ve never owned one, but a friend took me on a bumpy uphill off-road trip many years ago. It was a very scary, but also a very impressive ‘show’.
Qashqai,s are Renault running gear that’s why they break down, they are as much Japanese as the queen of united Britain, let’s be honest if you want to run a Range Rover and enjoy it to its full potential you’d need a good warranty or a few quid tucked away for that inevitable day when a light comes on the dash or the air suspension explodes
Except Renaults seldom break down. I have a 2001 CLIO. I worked for RENAULT since 2011 have driven lots of them. Had a 2005 Megane ii 1.5dci that never got me sleeping in the streets or broke down.
