The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Sublime. I'm a crusty old Englishman, not known for effusive emotional display, but this brought a tear to my eye. A master at the very peak of his profession, giving an excerpt from a truly wonderful movie. Thank you for this memory.
man, harris could do it all: sing, act, what a talent.
Absolutely, yes!
His acting in this movie was terrible.
Hang with Ollie Reed.
And drink lol
And fight!
I’m crying I miss you Richard Harris you will always be King Arthur In my heart take me with you to Camelot
❤️💙❤️
🤴👑🤴
And also
🧙♂️🏰🧙♂️
Beautiful words
Richard Harris will forever be my King Arthur too.
He looks like a King for sure. To be sure to be sure.
With Franco Nero, Lancelot; and Vanessa Redgrave, Guinevere. Great 👍🏼Movie.
RIP and long live Richard Harris (October 1, 1930 - October 25, 2002), aged 72
You will always be remembered as a legend.
Him, Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton! Mesmerizing gaze, magnetic voices and strong stage/screen presence
My sentiments exactly.
And all sadly missed. Legendary ❤
Is there anyone today who compares to the talent of Richard Harris?
“FOR THIS IS THE REIGN OF KING ARTHUR! WHERE VIOLENCE IS NOT STRENGTH, AND COMPASSION IS NOT WEAKNESS! We are civilized!”
He was totally at one with this character. He loved playing Arthur. And we love him playing it.❤️
I was fortunate to meet him in the 80s while he was in the touring company of Camelot.
A kind, soft spoken, attentive, self effacing gentleman with a ready smile.
I remember watching this as a boy and being thrilled by the power of the actor.
I remember watching this as well! It was a few years after the original airing and it was in syndication late at night. And I also remember how I was struck by his performance!
It wasn't until my mid thirties that I began to really appreciate his phenomenal talent.
I will never forget this man, great actor just great
This is wonderful. We don't have this anymore and it's a shame.
We still have the video. ^___^
This guy was special, what an actor, charisma all over him !!!
I was very fortunate to have seen Richard Harris on stage in Camelot in Perth, Western Australia, in 1984. A wonderful performance.
I didn't know Camelot was in Perth. 😉
Kitty the humorist. 🐈
Magnificent! His voice and everything about him was electrifying.
Someone left the cake out in the rain . . .
And I’ll never have that recipe again… oh no..
How does one memorize so many lines and a song on top of all that with so much moxie and superb enunciation.
by training!
practice. rehearsal.
A song???
He memorized *the entire script* (his part of it anyway) including *several* songs. 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
(I'm only saying.)
And by the way.
His portion of the script was probably around half the script.
(Or maybe only a third. But still, a lot anyway.)
I enjoy both versions of this song with Richard Burton and Richard Harris. Richard Burton had an hypnotic gaze and could convey a sense of melancholy when he sang Camelot. Richard Harris had that glint in his eye and conveyed a sense of mystery and hint of mischief when he sang it.
I saw him on stage in London. Enormous presence on stage and so intimate that I and my Father who was with me thought the actor was speaking only to each one of us.
This is and will be my most favorite story. Richard Harris, there are not enough words. Loved him . He will never be replaced.⭐️🙏♥️
This is bit incredible and it deserves a million views
15K views is pretty good. 🤔
Not quite good enough though.
I will forever love this man as King Arthur... ❤
That's one helluva good looking mustache!
That mustache hot . He was great as well as Richard Burton .
Might for right, right for might and justice for all! Those words still ring true at least in some of our heart. Camelot is still my favorite movie, every since I first saw it when I was only 12. It's too bad we live in a world without leaders like Arthur and a place like Camelot and brave knights who use might for right!
He was very special in everything he did. I saw him do Camelot at the Shubert Theatre in Boston. Loved him in Cromwell and everything else.
I have loved him since I heard him sing MacArthur Park. Look at that gorgeous dimple in his cheek. He makes my Irish roots so happy.
Oh me too loved mac Arthur's Park and Camelot is still my favourite fiilm
I love Richard Burton and all, but man. Richard Harris will forever be my King Arthur. He always manages to break my heart.
What an iconic voice and stage presence. This always makes me cry....
He, Richard Burton, Sean Connery, many others of this time .......gone now .......but NEVER forgotten 😁👍❤🇺🇸
We've lost so many Irish talent actors, like Richard Harris: in particular: sadly, theres no one, coming behind that can wear their boots.
Jared Harris at least has the DNA. I've seen him onstage, he does have some of his dad's presence.
Sorry! Ever hear of Daniel Day Lewis? Is he Irish?
@@Jfk3434 yes, I believe, through his mother.
Un gran actor.
He was a magical talent. Noone like this today.
Susan Emery
Ever seen Ralph Fiennes?
I learned this song attending primary school back in the early 1960s. Love it. Comes to mind sometimes😊
Bravo! Well done! A+
Thank you, Mr. Harris and Ed Sullivan.
Love him!! Big fan since childhood!!!! This scene always gets me emotional🥺🥺🥺🥺💛💛💛💛
'coming up after richard, the beatles" back after this
This man had it all charm comedy we won't see his like again he was one of a kind ❤
Amazing the smile that appears on my face when he starts singing.....
Brilliant
Incredible TALENT. This video sent chills down my spine.
Magic!
Got to see him perform Camelot in Boston…I call our seaside home Camelot ❤️
R.I.P. RICHARD HARRIS . WOW! NICE SINGING INDEED! FROM, U.K. (2023).
I had no idea the man who play Cromwell was himself an Irishman. Whoa!
My favourite film means so much to me very special the one and only king ❤❤❤❤❤
I have been a fan of Richard Harris for many many years and my all time favorite production of his was the Broadway play of Camelot.💖👵🏻
❤❤❤ (did I see a twinkle of Johnny Depp?) Richard was so talented, no one of his caliber these days. A sweet soul of a man.
saw him in Camelot at the pantages theater in Hollywood .... have to admit I swooned and my date looked at me. my favorite is " didn't we "
I loved him as King Arthur in Camelot
Near the ending I dropped my phone, because I was ready to give applause!
That's a first!
This really takes me back. Thank you for posting this.
He's in much better shape here than when he recorded his role again in the 1980s for HBO.
He’s also at least 10-15 years younger here.
now I know a little about Camelot
That's the general idea, I do believe.
Now you can remember it from December to December. 🎄🌲🎄
Fantastic , what a talent .
wonderful ...
what a wonderful time for television of the like we'll never see again unfortunately.
Great singer,great actor,great partier.
I forgot how good he was
Incredible narrative semi singing voice. He wasn't a singer in the strictest sense. Nothing wrong with that. He's best at what he's doing here. Then he met a man named Jim Webb. You know the rest.
Dumbledore: The Early Years
When Merlyn met Dumbledore. ^___^
What a voice. Just wow.
Listen to Richard's "A Tramp Shining" album, which contains the song "MacArthur Park". All the songs from composing genius Jimmy Webb.
I cry every time.
Great
Omg I'm crying just like did in the movie!
He's prettier in the movie, but he plays it and sings it better here (without those man-eating close-ups).
It’s just the hair and makeup in the movie was different. They had him in black eyeliner under his eyes to bring out the blue in his eyes more. And also was wearing a gorgeous crown!
In my opinion , Richard Burton was the best King Arthur in Camelot
Talented guy
Dedicated to the "Knights" of Ukraine
He was like Richard Burton, only better looking. 😊
They both had good luck with the ladies.
I saw him on my birthday just love him. When he came to America no Irish could get a hotel. Oh also no Irish
Boy, the Ed Sullivan orchestra isn’t what the studio orchestra sounded like in the film.
They don't make them like this anymore...Great Dumbledore too!
That moustache !!!!!!
Man like Dumbledore
Thats what Marc Aurel looked when he was younger. And he plays him exactly like here.
R.F.K Jr. For President! Bring Camelot back! Bring back the true America! Run Boy!
So different and loved them both but Burton put something unearthly into this song.
la casaca que lleva es la que viste en la escena de la boda de la película.
IMO, Burton was much better in the part. I wish this channel would upload the full Burton-Andrews performance from 3/19/61 which may be the greatest moment of Broadway cast preservation in the entire history of the Sullivan show.
This is good acting and singing, but... Burton was king arthur of camelot
@@nicgiga2658 Richard the First!
I think he did better than Richard Burton.
Pedro Pascal 😅
@0:01 Had to remind, I thought he said Irish porn star, not born...
LOL
