The song was made by Tobias specifically for the "Halloween Kills" movie soundtrack, it tried to capture those "80s movie sound vibes and I think he did a pretty good job.

So apparently, the guitar riff in the chorus is a guitar version of John Carpenter's main theme for the original Halloween movies. :D

Also, you should definitely do 'Rats' next. It's another insanely catchy song with some great riffs and lyrics, and the video is pretty wacky in the best way possible. XD

Tobias was asked by the producer of the movie if he wanted to write the end credit song. He said yes as he loves the Helloween movies series and he already had the title Hunter's Moon. He listened to Harvest Moon by Neil Young and discovered that there also were a Hunter's Moon. He wrote the song together with Oscar nominated song writer Max Grahn. (Husavik from Eurovision movie). They recorded it and it was ready for the movie. But then covid happened and the movie was postponed for a whole year. Tobias who wasn't happy with the song then wanted to re record the song and did so but the movie company refused to change. So that's why there is one version in the movie and another one (this) on the record.
Tobias said he already had a song and that's what was used in the movie. He didn't write a song for the movie. He did rework the song for the album, though.

Such a dang good song.. and such a dang good reaction. 🙂 You keep finding those details, showcasing some of the time, effort and brilliance put into this song. No matter how many times I watch this Ghost video, I always gives me the shivers down my spine at the end when Papa appears in the mirror. It fits the lyrics and the song attitude at that very moment. Such good choreography.
You will have a total blast if you react to, and pick apart, "Kaisarion" including the intro "Imperium". And you will definitely go for a brain spin reacting to "Twenties" including the intro "Dominion"...

Great reaction. Definitely 80's power/pop metal. I was thinking there was a bit of a nod to Dream Warriors (Dokken), which was also part of a horror movie soundtrack (Nightmare on Elm Street). I think there is also a nod towards the Halloween theme as well. The chants/vocal layering are classic Ghost. They sent the whole mix through a flanger (i think).
Love these reactions and analysis! And I haven’t seen anyone point it out yet but I’ve done a cover of the Halloween theme song and the guitar riffs after the 1st and 2nd verses almost match the piano key beats in the melody. I have no other way to explain it but I thought it was an amazing move by Ghost to do so. 😂 Excited to see what you react to next. I’m hearing that Rats seems pretty popular. 👀

Dial down the METAL aspect of this song and you've got ABBA.
Too bad they dropped this from the live setlist because the 2023 version dropped the pre-recorded chant and handed it to the backup singers which actually sounded better than on the album.
You should review this same song, but in the "Film" version it is very different, especially the drums, in my opinion the Hunter's Moon version of the film is much better than the version you just reviewed!! greetings from Chile! very good content! I loved your channel!!
