The three Ghoulettes plus Swiss Ghoul also are background singers. Tobias loves bands like Toto and that's why he wants Ghost to have so many in the choir. Going to a Ghost show is called attending a ritual. The girls dressed up as nuns are called sisters of sin.
“The bastard child of Black Sabbath and ABBA” - Ghost’s sound ranges from pop to rock to metal. The big songs to check out are probably Cirice and Square Hammer, but Tobias has a laser-guided talent for catchy tunes and you’ll find so much variety to enjoy.
My favorite part of this performance is watching all the people in the crowd have an absolute blast! Couldnt agree more with your take on him staying in place and focusing on his vocals
Their level of professionalism live is impressive, and it contributes greatly to the audience energy and participation, the fans are as much fun as the band in concert, big fan of their music but the overall theatrical side with the fans is pretty involved, great band
Your happy smiling face and generally great reaction just earned you a subscriber. You can't go wrong with Spillways, Cirice, Square Hammer, Faith, Rats, Ritual, He is, Year Zero, Life eternal and the list goes on....... forever and ever. If you have Ghost, you have everything!
It's funny you mention him not running around. He runs around a lot. He's very much a 70s & 80s style frontman. But he still maintains great vocals. Fun fact, he started in a band called Repugnant, a death metal band. And in it he played a character called Mary Goore who this song may very well be referencing in "Bloody Mary" and whatever friends and musicians he's singing about. Some say this is actually a love song to Repugnant.
Saw Ghost this summer in Mansfield Mass. Best live show I've seen. Band was awesome and the front man has tons of charisma. The crowd was eating it up and having a blast.
I was there as well. Also saw them last year in Providence. They just keep getting bigger and better. That show at Xfinity was amazing. Felt music in ways I never had before.
In Ghost lore, this song (and Kiss the Go-Goat) was written in 1969 by Papa Nihil, the supposed father of this Papa (IV), aka Cardinal Copia. It's on the EP called 7 Inches of Satanic Panic. In reality, it was released in 2019 & is written by the same guy who writes all Ghost's songs. Anyway, despite 12 year olds on TikTok demanding the song is about the Mother Mary and sex, it's actually about trying to make it in the music business with your friends and failing, but treasuring the journey. OH. AND. Marijuana since a Mary on a Cross is a three-headed marijuana joint.
This is the first time I saw someone recognize and point out the little Skynyrd-esque dual guitar lead, AND point out the harmonizing of single coil/humbucker pickups. Props.
I was there. The crowd honestly didn’t deserve this video. Florida often doesn’t have the best crowd energy. But I brought it for every song. Favorite band since 2017!!! They are so special.
Mahnnn. Your reactions are the best. No over the top fakeness. Just pure authentic reactions from someone who appreciates the music! Keep these videos coming. 🎉
I've seen all the big bands, or at least almost all of them, starting with the Monkees and Jimi Hendrix at Forest Hills in 1967 and trust me, Ghost is the best I've seen in concert ever hands down. No contest.
Ghost's Dance Macabre was actually part of a UA-cam 'long-play' post with a lot of supposedly steampunk music (not a playlist) that I stumbled upon years ago. That one actually turned me onto steampunk music after years and years of not really caring to much about newer music than what I learned to like as a youth in the 70's, 80's and 90's (born in '67, so I got them all first time!). I recently got back to Ghost after hearing this very song on my Radio Rock (Norway) radio channel. So now I have all their albums, and I love everything I've got. The 'funniest' thing is that Ghost is so much what you'd expect some Black Metal band to go for, with growls and howls, and yet the vocals are so NOT Black Metal and lovely. No wonder they have such a loyal fan-base, with parents gladly letting their young and impressionable kids in on it. 😇
bro i know this was a month ago but i love how you noticed the ghouls n ghoulettes have mics so they could sing along so i love you man for actually noticing that
I love how much fun you seem to have when you you review these songs. Also, it's awesome to get a technical breakdown. I love learning about what makes these songs tick. You're awesome, dude.
There are lots of reasons to like Ghost - top tier songwriting and production is one. They are also an amazing live act - there are 7-8 "Nameless Ghouls" that support Papa (Tobias Forge). They have an exceptionally high bar for quality - and take it very seriously. They've supported Iron Maiden and Metallica on tours, so have learned from some of the best on what it takes.
In the configuration as filmed (which has changed somewhat since this was shot) you have: 3 Ghoulettes singing backup with two on keyboards, Multi-Ghoul (rear left) who sings backup as well as playing percussion and baritone guitar, the rhythm guitarist (black guitar) is also singing backup, and the bass player is here as well. For the current concert tour lineup they have a new rhythm guitarist who does NOT sing, and the bass player is no longer singing backup.
It is interesting that you point out the presence of rhe kick drum. This live video was edited by the drummer, Hayden Scott. :) I love Ghost as a music lover. There are so many genres and influences, and every single memeber past or present is a technician. You can Tell Tobias knows music inside and out.
I love your videos. Get right in to it and listen. You have me listening for that damn tambourine every damn song!! Lol. Been a Ghost fan for years. Their sound has most definitely changed along with time but its always the same trance Tobias brings to the table with the ghouls.
Great video, Spillways has to be next 😊 I got into ghost about a month ago and they are easily a top band for me in my music listening times. Love your thoughts on the music, I suggest spillways because you may have some extra fun with the music on that one 👍
You can listen to 10 Ghost songs back to back and none of them will be in the same rock genre. If you want studio audio but tour video, look up "Ghost Faith from a Pale Tour Named Death". That's the previous album tour before Cardinal Copia got his Papa IV makeup. Faith is closer to metal than this psychedelic 60s rock song and has some cool leads.
Welcome to the club man, ghost likes to travel through different genres of music, this song was based off 1960's music. Check out their son Ritual, or Rats both are pretty dang good songs.
I really enjoy your Ghost reactions! They have so many great tunes, and yes, they are fantastic live as you can see. (I saw them just a week ago with Amon Amarth, which was a cool show.) Hey, do you think you could go a reaction or two to Mastodon? They have some jams, from proggy to doomy, that you might like!
Ghost are amazing. Their latest album is bangers from top to bottom and as a recent fan I've become enamoured by their back catalogue. Square Hammer, Cerice, Rats, Spillways, Griftwood. Check those out too dude.
I honestly can't think of a band that has such a high percentage of absolute bangers in their catalog. Even the songs I initially don't I care for eventually end up in my playlist. Special band.
I saw them this summer. Meyer sound system. I counted 24-dbl 18in subs. Felt like getting shot int the chest with a shotgun every kik strike. So perfectly mixed you didn't need ear plugs but those subs beat the ever living shit out of us!! IT WAS AWESOME!! No such thing as too much lo end!! Great reaction!!

Dude seeing the crowd jamming like that is awesome! Yea man, seeing him really take his vocals serious like that makes me appreciate his musicianship!
The audience is clearly in a different (better) place during this song. Good on them.
Their level of professionalism live is impressive, and it contributes greatly to the audience energy and participation, the fans are as much fun as the band in concert, big fan of their music but the overall theatrical side with the fans is pretty involved, great band
Agree! The audience is a big part of this, and that hits hard.

ghost songs are known for their double meanings, "going down" is 100% also a euphemism lol
