Wow I love drinking Yankees tears as a Dodgers fan but you seem like the nicer ones and I actually had some sympathy for you since you made it to game 5. Paying to watch that must be rough.

9:00 blaming the manager isnt being accountable. Theyre just passengers. I blame the players everytime.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the comparisons with the Cano off-season. The Yankees backup plan if they lose out on Soto genuinely terrifies me. Santander is limited athlete who posted career highs in a walk year (scary), Pete Alonso again is more of the same but does bring an element they need but is it wise to give term when Murakami might be coming next offseason? Bregman brings obvious concerns most notably he’s a cheater, Adames who might be my favorite of the class doesn’t even seem to be on their radar at all. They could build a super bullpen which is something we’ve seen them gravitate towards in the past or they could add a Burnes, Snell, Fried and hope to trade one of Nestor, Clarke, Gil for a controllable bat. No exaggeration this is the most important offseason in multiple decades. Free agent class is lacking elite talent but there’s plenty of veterans who if they are willing to take 1 year prove it deals/ ring chase could make sense. Yankees have to explore those types of additions to supplement the kids. Trade market is also going to be vital. Yankees imo are gonna need to sacrifice players they see a future for if they want to win now. Trade market might be the only path to a winter that satisfies the fans if Soto walks.

I don't think it's that the Yankees beat themselves that must sting, it's the fact that it SHOULD have been embarrassing to lose like that and it doesn't feel like they were embarrassed.

Incoming longest comment in UA-cam history.
I’ve been watching sports seriously for well over a decade now. Game 5 was the worst loss I’ve ever experienced as a fan when you combine the stakes, the stage, and how they just gave the game and series away. Won’t be getting over this one for a long time. I’m sure it must’ve been that much worse for you in person but hey. At least you can say you saw the Yankees both win and lose the World Series in person. 😂🤣
Obviously you have to pay Juan Soto. He’s the superstar left-handed hitter the team always needed to pair with Aaron Judge. Letting him go leaves a hole in the lineup that is borderline impossible to fill, at least this offseason. Obviously there’s no such thing as a “blank check” player but he’s the closest thing to that that you’ll find.
As far as the lineup around him, I’m a little surprised you didn’t bring up Christian Walker. Yes he’s 33 but he’s a solid middle of the order bat with perennial gold glove defense at first. Shouldn’t be crazy expensive so I could easily see a world where you sign him and Soto, especially if you can find a taker for Marcus Stroman. Then you can let guys like Caleb Durbin, Oswald Peraza, and Oswaldo Cabrera battle it out for that final infield spot.
    Lineup
    1. Anthony Volpe SS
    2. Juan Soto RF
    3. Aaron Judge CF
    4. Giancarlo Stanton DH
    5. Jazz Chisholm Jr. 3B/2B
    6. Christian Walker 1B
    7. Austin Wells C
    8. Jasson Domínguez LF
    9. Caleb Durbin/Oswald Peraza/Oswaldo Cabrera 2B/3B
    Rotation
    1. Gerrit Cole
    2. Carlos Rodón
    3. Luis Gil
    4. Clarke Schmidt
    5. Nestor Cortes
