Thank you! My neighbors are having a birthday party with karaoke, so I came looking for a safe harbor. This is glorious in any setting, and especially for me now. I think I'll keep listening to it over and over again until they shut up. (they're good neighbors and good friends)
The switch between the third and the fourth movement where the gamba is played like a guitar is genial. And the fourth moment contains a lot of beautiful surprises. The whole performance - also the first and second parts - is surprising.
What an amazing piece and so wonderfully performed! I particularly loved those accelerando passages in the last movement. I have to say I missed a well-earned roar of applause at the end.
It's a really great concerto. Since your beautiful recording of the Telemann E minor Concerto for traverso & recorder I have eagerly awaited this one! You have a fantastic ensemble there!
Ausgezeichnet!! Perfectly articulated & accented playing by all! The delicious interplay between 2 Solisti is a joy to hear! Typical Telemann dialogue! Rustic interludes redolent of Poland/Moravia! Superb version!! ;-) Bravi a Tutti!
Beautiful!! I follow Lina Manrique's performances in the Internet, but I did not know she was a member of this wonderful group of musicians. Thanks a lot.
That is a new one on me, playing a viola da gamba like a guitar! A beautiful piece, played exceptionally well. Thank you for sharing your musical talent with us mortals!
12:06 a beautiful demostration of how music is composed. The theme just by little changes is derivatived from the 3rd movement to the 4th mathematically (in my mind the conversion from one to the other is done like when I re-express one function that had no solution in other via transformations)... Brilliant!
This is a great performance ! I waited with this comment until I had seen and listened to it at least 5 times. The passion of all was clear , especially evident when looking at the viola da gamba player and the flutist. Vielen Dank !, Jan. ein ( einen ?) Holländer aus Australien.
Interesting to have violins, violas, and a cello accompanying our duet. Did Telemann write it that way, or was it originally written for a consort of violas da gamba?
I believe the viola da gamba and recorder parts are intended for one player each. I've seen a very old manuscript score (not original) that has violin, viola, and fundamento parts for the orchestra. There's no set group for the fundamento, but this performance had cello, bass, guitar, and keyboard. You may have noticed sections where the violins and violas reduce to one player on a part. It's not indicated in my score where these sections are, but I guess the performers would know from traditional practices. You may be right about the plural, but internet says viola da gambas. Personally I would go with viole da gamba to make the whole phrase Italian.
What's that guitar-like instrument the man is playing at the back? I've seen that in 18th-century paintings. Is it just an ancestor of the modern guitar, or a different instrument?
Telemann is the greatest baroque composer except for Vivaldi. Bach organ music is wonderful too but Telemann’s various concertos for woodwinds are magnificent.

Marvellous
Handel was German by birth .

Immense bravo.
What an amazing piece and so wonderfully performed! I particularly loved those accelerando passages in the last movement. I have to say I missed a well-earned roar of applause at the end.
Wonderfully beautiful

I don't understand why so many people hate Baroque music.
Not sure why but I love the baroque
period especially Bach

I really like Telemann. Enjoyed learning some on flute long ago
Our Flag Means Death brought me here! IYKYK!

It does look like a baroque guitar. In fact, the earliest guitars date as far back as the 13th century.

Less ego shall do
This makes me feel like a queen scolding the silly peasants in my court
i think the first movement tempo is andante
Can someone tell me if she plays an alto or a tenor recorder?
Ténor
