Can't help but feel like this is the best I've ever heard Robben he's just absolutely crushing here wow
This is the best I've ever heard from Robben Ford. It's always the stuff you don't hear on the commercial recordings (e.g. Yellow Jackets) that's the best material musically. Benson was in vintage form with those bebop chops.
Crazy chops by both monsters. Robben Fords juicy bluesiness and bensons bebob lines. Just so on top of their game.
Cool!!! I interviewed Robben in 1991 in Chicago for a cable TV show and he was so nice !! Love his playing and thanks for this cool recording !!
I was at Mikell's for a Robben show around that time, and I started talking to a pretty girl named Rachel. She said she played keyboards, and why don't I come check out the fusion jam at Bond St Cafe, down in the village ? Of course I went, and It turned out to be Rachel Z, Jimi Tunnell, David Tronzo, and Jeff Andrews, among others. *Very* heavy fusion !
Great recording ! If this band had cut a live CD, it would have been the best album of Robben's career.
amazing Benson is on fire , GREAT COMBO OF THE TWO TOGETHER , great band ,and playing all around
Thank you for posting this. I just can´t get enough from great players.
wow . im 29, would of loved that era of music. today is not the same is it? lucky you!
Come on you have great musicians today. Start with Snarky Puppy for instance.
Great....both incredible.
Brilliant! Shout out to my friend Gary on the drums!!
How Mr Benson Start his solo Omg like a Panther 0_O
He plays solid body from time to time...this is killer here. thanks for post!
WOW!!!
Some insane playing on this!
This is music fit for a king ! Henceforth I will practise 25 hours a day.
Fantastic👌
Thats gary on drums👏👏🤘
I was there!
Wow! I thought we’d only played Billie’s Bounce... we played again with George in Montreaux in the after show lounge... except it was Bob Malach on Tenor and Roscoe Beck on bass. Where did you get this tape? We played Mikells a bunch of times that year and I would LOVE to hear more. Thank you so much for posting this!
Garywan Hi Gary, so you are Gary Gold? Yes I have many Robben’s live shows recordings with you on drums. I need you e-mail adress to send you; you can write me at christo.madrona@gmail.com
Hi Gary, you can write me at christophe.madrona@yahoo.fr
@@ChristoMusic may can you send to me?
Gary you gotta give me the scoop, what track are you jamming over? That hook motif is killing me.
I love Benson’s bebop lines.
Does somebody know the name of this song ? Sounds a bit like Herbie Hancock. Great band anyway, Robben, George and the sax player let it burn, and do not forget the drummer! One of my favorites on YT.
i was at this show. they also played a blues called billies bounce. do have any more of these shows from mikells?robben played there alot around this time. i will pay you for some of the recordings. please let me know.
This sounds like it could be a version of crosscut saw though I’m not sure
Raging! Anyone know the tune?
Is there more of this?
Amazing ... Chris Hunter on tenor? I know him from his alto playing. Are you sure on the personell?
I have a few others tracks from that show and Robben announces the musicians. I'm not sure but it seams to me he's saying Chris Hunter
@@ChristoMusic thanks ...must be Chris then ...He`s very talented ..I wish he would have played more tenor. Cool!
Very cool. THANK YOU! Was a very special night. Do you have any more?
Yes but not with Benson
@@ChristoMusic Is it possible to be sent these recordings?
@@jaysteels What is your e-mail address?
@@ChristoMusic Thank you very much, it is deeply appreciated! My e-mail address is marwinmoodymusic@gmail.com
@@ChristoMusic Please post them ! Robben was incredible at those shows.
Christophe, can you post the videos you say you have many of? It is all audio, yes? Doesn't matter to most of us whether THERE ARE ANY SPECIAL GUESTS , BUT JUST THE TRIO IS FINE OR QUARTET, Chris, it would be much appreciated.
i am very busy, when I'll have free time, I'll do it for some; there's so many...
How do they play so fast but tasty?
They are both great fuck all the comparison. What song is this?
Actually there were only a couple of comments comparing.
Which is the song?
Is Benson playing a solid body? Doesn't sound like his Ibanez.
mademepickaname he was playing his Ibanez. I was there
Yup, GB playing his Ibanez... I was there as well. Great show!
3:40 min thank me later
Robben more than holds his own against one of the greatest guitar "technicians" in history.
You mean, against one of the greatest melody players in history ? Now I'm following you.
George Benson is not a fucking technician.
Lol! Technician?!
Ford makes you forget about technique very rapidly
By my saying he was known to be a great technical player doesn't mean that I think or thought that technical ability was all he has/had. If I say one thing it doesn't mean that I only think that one thing -- Why do people jump on other people online and make false assumptions ? Benson has great melodic sense and great harmonic sense, great time and great chops - ok ???? Do I have to write everything I think about something in one posted comment ?? Some people understood my comment .... but I guess a lot of people can not keep more than one idea in their minds at the same time
If I tell one of my friends that another friend of mine has some quality or ability - the person I am talking to usually doesn't assume that what I am saying is all I might have to say about that other friend.
How do they play so fast but tasty?
