Yes, protecting your property in the UK is a no no! The way to do it is, wait until your house has been ransacked (try not to get in the way while this is happening, you could get hurt) then phone the police, who will show zero interest, but will (if in a good mood) provide you with a crime number that you can present to your insurance provider, (providing you have one) who will then do their damnedest to wriggle out of paying, pointing out some absurd clause in the small print. The small print by the way, is so long, and so small that you would need the patience of a saint, and the eyesight of a shithouse spider to bother reading a quarter of the way through.

What a blast from the past! I used to go in Daniel's army surplus store about 25-30 years ago! He had a small store on Crawley high street, proper old school store, he used to have a target range in the back room to try the pistols out, his dad was a proper character, I used to buy my doc Martin dealer boots from him for £50 back in the day, he was also open to a bit of haggling which you couldn't do anywhere else, top bloke, used to love going in his store, he looks the same as he did back then, which is weird because he must of been mid 20's to 30 back then. Paul is actually incorrect. The law of the land (the true law) stipulates that we all have not only the right to own firearms, but are lawfully allowed to use them to defend our "castle" it is known as the "castle doctrine" and lethal force is LEGAL if you are certain or can prove that your life is in danger. Paul needs to brush up on his knowledge of our laws.
Way back in 1987, I took possession of a sportsmatch GC2, one of the first Numatic airifles. went down to the factory in Hemal Hemptead to pick it up, John Ford asked me what serial No. I wanted , "007 of course' I said. My mate who was also picking his rifle up, said, "I wanted that number" John said "No problem, you are left handed" so he got 007L. I was on the field target circuit for a year and had a great time.

Got into Airsoft last year … Airsoft clubs are fantastic with newcomers and will help you get into it with good advice on equipment … Great team building activity and a load of older lads running about in a warehouse blasting each other is peek fun trust me 😂👍🏽
Imagine my joy when I realised that, after having mover to France, there was a fullbore shooting range in my local village. Once you are accepted as a responsible person by your club you can buy all sorts of guns. One old boy at my club shoots an SLR! The laws in France are pretty sensible, hence we don`t get the mass shootings here. There are competitions for all gun types all over the country. I love it.
Pedantry hat on. Gravity causes a pellet to drop the moment it leaves the barrel. The trajectory appears to be an arc because the barrel is usually angled upwards by the shooter.
Great video Paul. I got into air gunning in recent years (in my 50s). Started with a break barrel Norica Storm rifle in .22, then got an under lever Weihrauch HW97K in .177, then the Weihrauch HW110K, also in .177. Fantastically accurate guns. You’ll never starve with a 97 and enough pellets. Also have a Walther CP88 pistol in .177 and recently bought the Umarex HDR50 revolver. That’s great fun. As you say, it’s addictive. Anyway, thanks again to you and Daniel. Off to have a look at his website now.
Nice rifle the 97K, I owned one in .22 with a Nikko Stirling scope and Deben lamp around 20 year back, had plenty of fun an took plenty of rabbits with it, also had an 80k with same scope, ended up selling both to part fund the purchase of a Ducati 750 SS, been thinking about getting back into the sport again now I'm in my early 50's
Just discovered your channel Paul and was very impressed with the video. Thank you for taking the time to make this one for us all. I am a big fan of the old springers and thought the TX200 looked great.👍
Enjoyed your video, I too own several air guns including the Glock 17 Gen 4. It feels and looks like the real thing, it's quite accurate and I put a laser optics on mine and it's even more accurate. I love the blowback action. Bit loud when firing but still a lot of fun when target shooting.
The first one, the Weihrauch was my favourite, but my first issued rifle was a No.4 Lee Enfield, colours are naff to anyone ex-forces, unless camouflaged. You can buy a Chinese 0.22" for abot £70. You can also buy airsoft realistics if you work in a relevent museum. There are no dispensations even if you were an Army Weapons Instructor with a Queen's Commendation.
I’ve been shooting all my life and from probably around seven years old and living on a farm I had plenty of land to shoot on and I’ve had shotguns, rifles in the past. But due to mobility problems I gave up the shotguns and rifles and went back to my love of airguns. My very first airgun was a webley Tracker in 22 which I still have to this day and that was over forty years ago. I have and been using Weihrauch’s for many years which I think are one the best makes on the market for spring powered owning a HW99s, Hw,95 in 22 then another Hw95 in 177. along with the HW 97 blue laminate in 22. So I really do like my Weihrauch’s. But for many years I’ve longed for what I would call the pinnacle of all springers in my opinion and that is the air arms pro sport but years ago they never did them with left handed stocks as I’m a lefty. But last year I finally got my dream springer the pro sport with walnut stock in 177 and it’s above and beyond any springer I’ve owned and is on another level completely. For years for vermin control I’ve used PCP’s and always shot 22 until I got a gun on loan in 177 and it was a complete game changer for my shooting and I’ve always used Weihrauch hw100s in kt the the s models and they are a proven gun not the most attractive but they work and work very well indeed and if your lucky like I was the walnut stock on mine is absolutely stunning and the sort of grain you would expect on a high end shotgun its that good. I’ve have a Sightmark wraith 2-16x28 fitted on it as I do so much pest control and is a great set up and costs less than £300 and with the 177 calibre my furthest shot to date was 62 yards, a shot I wouldn’t have even considered using a 22 but a shot I was comfortable taking for a good clean dispatch and not a shot I would have taken if I wasn’t confident with my abilities, every responsible shooter wants a good clean kill every time and never let an animal suffer no matter what they are. So please be respectful and responsible for anyone who reads this as mentioned these are not toys and are capable of taking someone’s life as they have before through people in the mindset that they are only an airgun, they are a weapon and must be treated as one. Great video my friend thoroughly enjoyed it.
Interesting video. I got my first air rifle a Wembley Jaguar 177 with a telescopic sight for my twelfth birthday back in 1977 I think it cost about 17 quid. The second rifle I got was a Webley Hawk .22 a year later for about 30 quid. Both work absolutely perfectly.
Youthful memories come flooding back. I miss my BSA Scorpion and Jackal Highpower, still got my old BSF. Nice to see all the new stuff available. Great vid
Bought my grandson a stroeger mx1 pcp £295 what a rifle for that price bit tricky loading the cartridge, very accurate and came with a very good quality sight, great as your first pcp or for a teenager, you will not look out of place on any range
Brilliant video, my wife walked in and said what you doing watching a cockney geezer 🙂. I`m a game shooter and have been for many years. I bought a Ghost 1.77 Cal with scope to replace my old BSA air-sporter 2.2 without scope to get rid of pesky vermin. My local shop was excellent in Lincolnshire. Paul you recommend the ghost highly and when I bought it I couldn`t miss a single beer can at 50mtrs nor could I miss the centre spot on a range. However when it came to vermin. I couldn`t kill hardly anything. So my shop politely said it must be me 😞! They gave me my money back and I continue to nobble the odd pigeon with my old gun but I want to try again. I think I`m going for the heavier harder hitting 2.2 in case the pellet on the 1.77 was just going through and the vermin was dying painfully later. Your video was fantastic and I think I might try the Wyrauch HW100 instead but I`m a patriot and would prefer to buy British but not at the expense of missing. Also do you have a scope you would recommend?
As much as I love the Daystate rifles, I think I’d be afraid to take it out in the field, you nailed it when you said it’s a masterpiece . The reliance on electronics scare me a bit though.
This video inspired me. Went into my local Rolex AD today armed with my newly acquired air pistol to rob the place. They told me they didn't have the watches I wanted in stock and I'd have to join the waiting list like everyone else.
Reminds me of a misspent youth firing air guns with my old pals although we were running about firing them in the woods and out and about. In later years we used to go clay pigeon shooting for a while - great sport to get into and these rifles cost nothing compared with even entry level luxury watches. That £3,300 self indexing rifle is a great piece of kit for the money, about the same as a decent Longines! Will check these guys out next time I’m in their neck of the woods. Brings back happy memories!
Great Shop to visit and online, I have known Dan for a long time, great knowledge of everything in his shop. Always great customer service whatever you're budget.
We are now spoilt for choice on air rifles and I was waiting for the HW100 to come up! Its the best all round PCP gun that all others are judged by and worth every single penny! The HW100 has been around for donkeys virtually unchanged and it still gets in the top reviews, year after year.
Great stuff as this store doesn't come up on google when searching for parts, found what I was looking for here thank you so much and the discount code is the cherry on top.
Just to be clear, it is NOT only Scotland that requires a certificate for low powered airguns. In Northern Ireland you require full FAC for all airguns over 1J. The only part of the UK were you don't require a certificate for 'air weapons' is England & Wales.
I'm in uk too, I collect watches, airguns and pistols, knives, I have fac, I have vermin and target on my ticket, I shoot clays badly, have rimfire bolt and semi, fac air, a 22 1911 lbp, and 357 lbp. Love it.
Very good video mate. Because of this i drove up from Maidstone to buy an AGT Vixen. But! I ended up buying an AGT Uragan. Very nice shop and very informative and friendly. 👍🏻
My local "Toy Shop" as my brother and I call it.....we love calling in and they are so so helpful and friendly.....we can't buy all the time but all the staff are really happy to let us look at anything.....and I would like to say we have become friends with many of the staff.....highly recommend a visit....love the place.....
I got stopped by the police, I was carrying my air rifle in its carry case to my local woods for some target practice. The officer was a nice guy. He looked at my air rifle and told me to have a good shoot. That was back in the 70s and I was 15. Ho, how times have changed.
In 1960's a friends dad had a winchester .22 rimfire and .22 shorts, hung on his pantry door and ammo in dresser, we shot it in farmers field many times, nothing ever said.
Just stumbled across you Paul. Brilliant film and love your honesty and content. Top man. Subscribed and clicked the bell. Keep up the good work pal. 👍👍👍
I have known Dan for a few years now and brought about 36 pistols and rifles but i Knew his Dad when he owned his shop in the highstreet in Crawley Where I brought my Crombe and my Ben Sherman Shirt from Plus my boots as well he was a great guy and still is. Dan is a great guy and so is his Staff
It's bought, not brought. Bought means you purchased something. Brought means you took something with you. Eg: bought - I just bought a new gun. Eg: brought - I brought an umbrella with me incase it rains.
Hi Paul, first of all, thanks for standing up for the guy being harassed by the police officers, that video introduced me to your air rifle content(good old UA-cam!) We share common interests it seems and I’ve just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work 👍
As an American this is equal parts interesting and heartbreaking. You can hear the passion, the same as we have here, in the way you speak about the guns. Change a few variables and this could be a conversation you'd hear in a gun store over here.
@@teejay8899 The u.k. gun laws. These are air rifles not real rifles. Come to australia and your lucky to have a nerf. They'll take a slingshot off you.
I've been into airguns since i was very young. Ive bought at least 30-40 air rifles and pistols directly from Dan, even in their old store location with our relationship spanning over 15 years. Best store and team ever.
What noticed moving from firearms to piston air rifles you have to use the artillery method when shooting them, due to cylinder/ piston moves forward, and back when the air rifle shoots pellets. You do not have this problem with PCP air rifles, just springers.
The Piston in a springer does NOT move backwards after firing. It moves forwards and stops. It doesn't rebound. The recoil felt is caused by the spring. PCP rifles are soulless and aren't challenging to shoot. I know so man people who moved from a springer to an PCP, got bored very quickly, and returned to the springer.
Hi Paul something else we have in common I've had all different air riffles for nearly 50 years now currently have a Gammo Coyote precharge good all round little bit of kit cracking podcast as usual mate
Top video Paul! I’ve purchased a few air rifles from Crawley Surplus Store, Daniel is a great guy and was very helpful, he managed to source the Hatsan BT 65 Elite for me which at the time was hard to find, I look forward to seeing more vids from you on this topic!👍
Great video as always Paul with some beauties on show. I've bought half a dozen guns from there over the years and as you and Daniel say you always receive first class service and advice and always warmly welcomed by Daniel and the team. All the best.
@8:09 - You said 'right across the UK...apart from Scotland'. You missed out Northern Ireland, also part of the UK, where EVERYTHING over 1 Joule needs a Firearms Certificate, just like a centrefire rifle. And at 8:34', Mr Thorpe said 'that's what happens when you give your gun rights up'. Here in UK we have not had 'gun rights' since the introduction of the Firearms Certificate system. I'll let you look that one up.
I just came across this wonderful video. I wish i had seen this much earlier. A shooting sporter and a starting-collector myself. Great pieces of art and sport shown here. Lovely...thanks from the Netherlands.
Wow some kit there.. must take some good engineering and metal workers making these. I remember as kids having cap guns. We used pull them out spin them in fingers like billy the kid.. I had for some reason a replica metal luga pistol, didn't do anything but quite an unusual thing, to have as a toy

I love it.
I have bought a few air rifles over the years from Crawley surplus store I can’t recommend them enough, there quality and service is truly unmatched
Pedantry hat on.
Gravity causes a pellet to drop the moment it leaves the barrel. The trajectory appears to be an arc because the barrel is usually angled upwards by the shooter.
Agreed,I thought Frank Spencer was going to pull Paul up on that!😂
@@wingcommanderdaltonwalton67 Betty was pretty tasty in all fairness.
Probably better to get a crossbow, they're not banned yet.....
Just discovered your channel Paul and was very impressed with the video. Thank you for taking the time to make this one for us all. I am a big fan of the old springers and thought the TX200 looked great.👍
Don’t forget; Northern Ireland is also in the UK and we need an FAC for everything, be it sub 12ft lbs or above, great video
Great vid
I never thought a gun would put a smile on my faces they. are stunning ❤ Nicola
Its . 177 and .22
As much as I love the Daystate rifles, I think I’d be afraid to take it out in the field, you nailed it when you said it’s a masterpiece . The reliance on electronics scare me a bit though.
This video inspired me. Went into my local Rolex AD today armed with my newly acquired air pistol to rob the place. They told me they didn't have the watches I wanted in stock and I'd have to join the waiting list like everyone else.
LOL
well they will be replicas of course
No one ever feels so inspired to Rob a Gun Store the U.S! I wonder why!
Excellent video Paul. Thanks Daniel for the tour.
Great stuff as this store doesn't come up on google when searching for parts, found what I was looking for here thank you so much and the discount code is the cherry on top.
Used to have a Webley Vulcan .22 Mk 1 made by Webley & Scott,, Loved That Rifle wish I still had it !!...
I had a Webley Vulcan too a great rifle.
I also had an Original 45, HW35, and a Sharp Innova.
The Original was and the HW35 were excellent.
Just to be clear, it is NOT only Scotland that requires a certificate for low powered airguns. In Northern Ireland you require full FAC for all airguns over 1J. The only part of the UK were you don't require a certificate for 'air weapons' is England & Wales.
Mouth watering video. Thanks for reminding me just how much I love my 54 year old Webley Mk3. Thanks and keep well.
Yes, I can remember flicking through the Freeman’s catalog😂
Yep the Webley’s in freeman’s that was in the early 90’s I think 😆
I'm in uk too, I collect watches, airguns and pistols, knives, I have fac, I have vermin and target on my ticket, I shoot clays badly, have rimfire bolt and semi, fac air, a 22 1911 lbp, and 357 lbp. Love it.
Very good video mate. Because of this i drove up from Maidstone to buy an AGT Vixen. But! I ended up buying an AGT Uragan. Very nice shop and very informative and friendly. 👍🏻
Went old school and got a HW80K with a Hawke Airmax 3-9x40. Pumping them out at about 21ft lbs. Absolutely love it.
hope you've got a fac license or your inviting an unexpected knock on the door
@@MrDead1975 No reputable dealer would do that tune up without it. Sandwell Field sports in Birmingham did mine. All legit.
Really enjoyed that, thanks guys
Good video Paul I have had many firearms and shotguns over the years but always had the most fun with my air rifles a wonderful hobby.
Really enjoyed that, great to see some love for .20 I got my .20 95k 10 years back and it's lush.
Nice to see Tommy Walsh doing something else inplace of diy and buliding
Ive got the Air Arms tx200, Fantastic rifle and super accurate
I have a vintage BSA Airsporter which still shoots well, but I like the look of nearly all the guns you have shown.
Proper little Joe Hawkins , lol
Exactly the same here Crombie, Sta-press and Frank Wright loafers from the high st shop. Dan was a kid then and used to work Saturdays
It's bought, not brought.
Bought means you purchased something. Brought means you took something with you.
Eg: bought - I just bought a new gun.
Eg: brought - I brought an umbrella with me incase it rains.
I feel sorry for the guys that lost they're guns .... and it's made absolutely no difference whatsoever...
Well we don't have mass shootings at primary schools.. I guess that's a difference. :-)
Send over the gun dealing guy from Breaking Bad....He'd do some good money over here 😏
Thank you really enjoyed the show ❤
Hi Paul, first of all, thanks for standing up for the guy being harassed by the police officers, that video introduced me to your air rifle content(good old UA-cam!) We share common interests it seems and I’ve just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks mate, welcome on board! All the best.
As an American this is equal parts interesting and heartbreaking. You can hear the passion, the same as we have here, in the way you speak about the guns. Change a few variables and this could be a conversation you'd hear in a gun store over here.
Yeah mate I completely agree.
what's heartbreaking ?
The evil cable is trying to disarm the people.
As a Japanese admiral said.
There is a gun behind every blade of grass in America.
@@teejay8899 The u.k. gun laws. These are air rifles not real rifles. Come to australia and your lucky to have a nerf. They'll take a slingshot off you.
Don't ever give up your guns my American friend, or your government will be walking all over your rights, just like here in the U.K.
I've been into airguns since i was very young. Ive bought at least 30-40 air rifles and pistols directly from Dan, even in their old store location with our relationship spanning over 15 years. Best store and team ever.
Better value and more fun than any watch!
Great video Paul, thanks for sharing 👍 all the education you need in one video to help someone get started in the hobby.
Great hobby it is too!
Best rifle for me was the UK solid barrel and the wood stock was great an just over a grand. 100 percent best rifle.. Love the switch up
I don't think anyone has mentioned how brilliant the 80s style funk is ✌️👍🇬🇧
Hi Paul something else we have in common I've had all different air riffles for nearly 50 years now currently have a Gammo Coyote precharge good all round little bit of kit cracking podcast as usual mate
Great store,
Bought my Glock 17 Gen 4 BB ,and Beretta 92 FS pellet pistols from here.
Been to the surplus store a few times, Dan’s a top bloke and knows his stuff
Top video Paul! I’ve purchased a few air rifles from Crawley Surplus Store, Daniel is a great guy and was very helpful, he managed to source the Hatsan BT 65 Elite for me which at the time was hard to find, I look forward to seeing more vids from you on this topic!👍
Great video air guns come along way
Excellent Paul...
Yes sorry, of course, NI has their own restrictions. I wouldn't forget you guys!
Great video really enjoyed that. Thanks Paul👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Another excellent video Paul great content 🙂👍🇭🇲
IMO Daniel and all the guys at Crawley Surplus will give you the absolute best service and the best choice of air guns and Airsoft in the south,... I own a Katran, HW100 LE and a Red Wolf and many others all bought from Crawley Surplus,... Fantastic shop!!!
Hi paul fantastic channel enjoyed this one very much I used to own a BSA,rifle weihrauch H177 short carbin believe it or not was a 22,Wembley hand gun back in the early 80/90s . Brilliant brought back a lot of childhood memories .
My favourite was the Hw100 definitely hands down to me .
You've had all the guns of my youth.😀
I went with my Dad to buy a 22 BSA .( A meteor, I think).
But I couldn't hold up.
It was too heavy for me.😊
So I ended up leaving with a 177 Weihrauch.
Years of fun.
Me, my kids, their kids and still going strong.😀
I do love a good air gun like many I started off with a bsa super meteor 177 , I have a hw97 and hw95 , in the past I've had a hw 77 , hw35, a few air arms tx200s etc , a good hobby , I've had the hw 100 kt too , it was excellent

What a lovely video
Great vid Paul, would love to see you doing some target practice with your air guns see how they compare 🙂
I had a Diana model 27 for Christmas when I was 14 in 1957. Still use it.
Air arms Pro sport is the best springer in my opinion.
Really enjoyed this paul, got loads of guns myself, anyway. Thanks for your time and for sharing your passion for guns.
A proppa London fella, that unfortunately they dont make anymore, last production was about 2000. God bless.
Really enjoyed the show. It was very informative. Well done to you both.
Good watch Paul as an air gun enthusiast 👌
Great video thoroughly enjoyed it..I've got a 22 I've had it 20 years it still works well but I want something new maybe more power this video gave me lots of examples.
Superb - great video
Great video, great guns!
Video was 🔥. We need to see your collection next fella.
Excellent video Paul thanks
