      Agreed! Many clubs dont advertise themselves much for fear of drawing attention but how else can we get people in to the sport and grow it? Sort of a dumb strategy if you ask me! That's one of the main reasons I started this channel!

      I agree, l was born in the UK and owned guns there until l moved to the USA. I could never talk at work with people about my sport as guns are scary! I am glad that people in the UK do own guns as limited as it is. Most of my guns today would be illegal if l were still living there. Sad really how bad the UK has got with gun control.

      So long as it is fixed in a way that makes it near impossible to remove without significant effort. Some people will say it has be attached to "brick and mortar" no where does it say that and actually mine aren't and the Police were happy because they are installed in such a way that removal would be extremely difficult. Basically overdo it with securing it and you should be fine but it will be down to your FEO to decide. Maybe ask for their advice before hand they are usually quite willing to give guidance. Biggest bottler neck in getting your FAC in the UK is the medical report. I started in Feb of last year. Took until the end of August! Our FA officer just had to go to check the moving of a safe to a mates house because the guys medical report wasn't ready by the time his FAC needed renewing!

      @Junaid_12321 yes you can but you would need suitable insurance and the Police would want to inspect the land to ensure it is suitable for the type of shooting you want to use it for. Great video ! I'm 21 years old and looking to get a 22lr bolt action for rabbit shooting. Do I need a separate ammunition safe for rimfire rounds? How would you go about justifying that you are hunting? (On someone else's land)

    • @matthewwilliams1750
      @matthewwilliams1750 2 місяці тому

      Ammo does need to be stored separately. That can be within the gun safe but needs to be within a seperate lock box inside. A lot of gun safes have these built in.
      To be able to shoot on someone else’s land. You need to have permission from the land owner and this will be checked as part of your application. As your a first time licence holder. This would be a specific condition on your certificate and any new locations would also need to be notified to the police for them to check.

      It makes perfect sense and is entirely logical. The basic principle is that you cannot own anything for the purposes of self defence. Firearms have multiple non-self-defence uses, pepper spray doesn't. So, firearms are justifiable in UK law, pepper spray isn't.

    • @TheAlexagius
      @TheAlexagius 27 днів тому +1

      @@DaibhidhBhoAlba I mean it really isn't.
      The stated case for the regulation of weapons within the UK is the risk to the public and the harm that can be caused by their misuse.
      The farm caused by any (actual) firearm is far more significant than by pepper spray.
      The reason why pepper spray is illegal is solely due to its use as an item of self defence, a concept which is effectively illegal in the UK, which is itself insane and illogical, after all the idea that a person may need a less lethal item to protect themselves is perfectly normal across much of Europe (most of which is safer than the UK).

    • @DaibhidhBhoAlba
      @DaibhidhBhoAlba 27 днів тому +1

      @@TheAlexagius Absolute garbage. The use of weapons carried for the purposes of self-defence (against humans) in Europe is not universally permissible and the clear majority of countries in Europe do not allow you to carry any weapon for self-defence. In the countries that do, most have higher crime rates that the UK. Plus, the UK doesn't universally proscribe carrying for self-defence, and it is possible to get a concealed personal protection weapon permit in Northern Ireland. You are completely misrepresenting reality and the truth. Plus, pepper spray is a prohibited weapon in the UK for two reasons, both of which stem from the stated purposes of firearms regulation, which include ensuring public safety and protecting the safety of those who possess firearms and potentially/actual offensive weapons. Firearms regulation in the UK itself considers the potential of misuse of firearms on the public and against the owner of the firearms alike. Pepper spray would almost certainly be widely misused. It would be used by criminals to subdue victims, it would be misused by people fearing they were victims, victims would almost certainly also see their own spray used against them in certain cases, just as we already see with idiots who carry knives for protection. Given violent crime remains low in the UK and, notwithstanding incessant scaremongering by politicians, the media and certain pressure groups, it is still only a fairly small minority of people who would ever find themselves in a situation where pepper spray would be of use to them, it is perfectly clear that the pros of reclassifying pepper spray to make it generally available for use in self-defence would not come anywhere close to outweighing the cons such a move would introduce into British society.

    • @TheAlexagius
      @TheAlexagius 27 днів тому

      @@DaibhidhBhoAlba "Absolute garbage." - We're off to a good start then.
      "The use of weapons carried for the purposes of self-defence (against humans) in Europe is not universally permissible and the clear majority of countries in Europe do not allow you to carry any weapon for self-defence" - I didn't say universal I said "across much of Europe".
      "In the countries that do, most have higher crime rates that the UK." - I'll go case by case but in general no that's not true, the UK is number 7 in Europe for crime.
      Here is a list of EU nations which allow its ownership and carry and their crime rate relative to the UK;
      Austria (Less crime), Czech Republic (Less crime), Croatia (Less crime), France (More Crime), Finland (Less crime), Germany (Less crime), Hungary (Less crime), Italy (Less crime), Latvia (Less crime), Lithuania (Less crime), Montenegro (Less crime), Poland (Less crime), Portugal (Less crime), Romania (Less crime), Russia (Less crime; though its an untrustworthy source so likely more in reality, especially given that their reported murder rate is higher than that of the USA), Serbia (Less crime), Slovakia (Less crime), Spain (Less crime), Ukraine (Crime stats somewhat meaningless given the war).
      "proscribe carrying for self-defence, and it is possible to get a concealed personal protection weapon permit in Northern Ireland. " - Which only highlights the lack of logic further. So some people need to carry guns for self defence but no one needs to carry pepper spray? This juxtaposition of opposing views is illogical and insane.
      "Pepper spray would almost certainly be widely misused. It would be used by criminals to subdue victims, it would be misused by people fearing they were victims, victims would almost certainly also see their own spray used against them in certain cases, just as we already see with idiots who carry knives for protection" - I find this to be a preferable situation to the current situation which, as you point out, is the use of lethal weapons like knives in such situations. I'd much prefer the knife crime to give way to pepper spray crime, because less people would be dead or suffer life altering injuries. The "con" isn't a con, its preferable to what already is.
      The fact is this the UK isn't a safe nation, yes safer than the USA (though some crimes are higher here, thankfully murder is lower) but that is a meaningless metric given our European neighbours, and violent crime is high and murder is surprisingly high, with even France (which is more dangerous generally) having a slightly lower murder rate per capita than the UK.
