I don't think so. Seems more like a lazy strategy to keep the player base in the upcoming months with little effort: If you drop the whole storyline in the campaign, you will need to come up with actual quality content for MP and WZ to keep players around in the months to come. How do you overcome that? Raids! They were used to tell the story in-between MW2 and MW3. No MW4 to build up to? Well there you have it. Drop only half of the MW3 story in the campaign so that you can drip feed the rest in 3 to 4 raids over the next 3 to 4 seasons, buying you a nice 6 to 8 months guarantee that player-base will bounce back up at some point.

This campaign is the worst campaign I’ve ever played. You should not be able to finish it in under 2 hours. It seriously feels like a drawn out DMZ mission.
The campaign is not monetizable. So they put like 0 effort in it. They just grabbed all the action movie Tropes and called it a day. What they want your money for is those Warzone and MP skins.
Here I go raging in the comment section again... "I can't fault the devs for trying new things" No, you can fault them when they don't. This campaign is nothing but a preview for warzone and such. Not to mention coming from being DLC initially, this was always going to happen. I just don't understand why we went from Clean House (one of the best COD missions of all time imo) to this. I specifically remember a conversation of those more closed in missions, with discussion of co op and procedural generation back in the day (though of course I can't remember where) and once again with this version of Modern Warfare, they get close to something that would be brilliant, then go an entirely separate direction with it. I'm not saying MW2019 was perfect, but they had good ideas that they just forgot about in MW2 and inevitably this game too. The cope has been so incredible, such as MrDalekJD saying that the Verdansk missions were 'faithful recreations' and 'references' instead of literal copy paste times saves. Not to mention, every campaign in this reboot series has only been a setup to a convoluted plot line in a Battle Royale shooter which of course no one plays for the story. Shit! it's like they even forgot they killed Graves, wrote this game and then realised they killed him, so they shoehorned a late season into MW2 to explain it away. Welcome to the new era of gaming, where a Triple A company will only repackage the aesthetic and characters of a much better franchise you bought 13 YEARS AGO, then expect you to be happy cause 'ohhhhh that's Yuri' or 'oh that's (enter whoever the fuck else). THE MULTIPLAYER IS LITERALLY JUST MW2. But no! it gets better! because everyone will start to hate the multiplayer, as surprise surprise, these maps from 13 years ago, were designed 13 years ago, for an engine, play style and aesthetic that... you guessed it, was 13 YEARS AGO. But that's the point. How many folks who were playing back then are going to buy this now? I doubt many. This game is capitalising on kids who never played the original, probably never owned 360's etc. That's why they can get away with doing this. Call Of Duty has recognised it's new audience. And it's an entirely different generation. I'm happy to say I at least got to play these games in the hey day, and I can always boot up my 360 again. I just think it's about time we realised COD isn't for the fans of the OG franchises anymore, no matter how often they parade the beloved franchises corpses around.
A lot of game publishers disappointed our gamer hearts in the last few years. We all know they could have done better, but i guess it‘s not about the joy and love for games anymore. They just want quick and easy money… Not all of them…but most of the times it‘s the ones we used to love and respect already. And then…they just disrespect us like we are just some braindead zombies sitting in front of our screens all day. Which may be true for some people i guess. But what about the other ones ?
You guys can say anything about this campaign but they honestly make ghost sounds more scarier in this one than mw2 from how he jokes about face melting and also when they watched shepherd and shadow’s respond and they way he said “we’re gonna let this slide boss?” Or something like that sounds like he’s a villain rhan the hero in there
Though the campaign was short (and is geting very tiring hearing the same negative things about it) via countless reasons and restrictions, they introduced well Makarov how unhinged but coordinated gets his attacks done, doesn't care who the target(s) is, and didn't just reminded TF 141 but us the audience as well were not invincible as he kept that promised to Soap from Flashpoint via killing him and left Price thinking real hard about the last sentence before being interrupted. Is crazy to think how much of smooth talker Makarov is capable of getting so many people behind his plans in similar concept like the Joker. They're not done cooking him yet and I do wanna see how in present time is it possible allow such amount of scrutinities and fuck ups for WW3 to happen. Overall I enjoyed the story given to us. Without a doubt what we didn't see in the campaign is gonna be added in Raids and seasons of the game - how much are they adding idk
@@thebluewhalebandits3651 1: no one was even talking with you 2: Don't expect me to respect mediocre content because we will only get that kind of mediocre of content from now on if people supports them
You’re pretty mild on the rant. I felt the lemon that mw3 looks like, didn’t preorder it. I watch the full play through of the game. Man… Makarov looks way to young to be the ultimate cod vilain, I miss the OG one who was an outright psycho. The whole plot is the lamest I’ve ever seen in a cod game: Oh no Makarov is about to launch another Terrorist attack and put the blame on Farah’s crew. Let’s barely stop him! Oh no he still got away with it. Rinse and repeat till we literally see Soap and Sherperd get pissed on by the script. How did we get from the MW (19’) campaign who was pretty solid to this fat fricking joke? Where’s my full on world war with the US and Europe on fire and Makarov pulling the strings in the middle of the chaos?! Where’s the TF141 who hyped me, being the best of the best, but vulnerable and who lost half of their member each opus until only Price remains? What happened to the over cinematic fashion when one of the main character dies? I really feels like they went: « Hello fellow teens here’s one more year of WZ, hope y’all are happy, we’ve got more micro transactions, here’s a skin of Tyler the creator. »
i think its better as MW2 dlc instead of passing it off as new game, older dlc games if you remember in the old days, they were shorter between 1-4hrs long, full fledged campaigns in the vanilla base game should be roughtly 10-20 hrs long depending on the contents and length of the story, if you include mmo rpg, first person rpg, regular first person etc but this no, De-activision just wants your money and make too much room on your drives
I disagree that Black Ops 3 had a worse campaign. The game was super surreal and while it was derivative as hell (that one mission with the train is literally just out of the movie source code) at least it felt like it was inspired by something and had the typical hallmarks of a CoD campaign that made the series successful. MW3 feels like a Warzone event or spec ops missions repurposed as singleplayer with as little effort put in as possible to make it feel like this wasn't just a giant asset flip.
As someone who favours the Treyarch games so I’ll be biased. Cold War was the last enjoyable game for me. BO4 had lots of launch issues, the multiplayer wasn’t as fun as BO3, Fuck infinity Ward and SHG and their shitty broken games that aren’t fun to play, and all the shitty attempts at zombies. I only got Crapguard because Treyarch was developing zombies (and we all know how that turned out) but this time actually seeing real gameplay of zombies, I’m actually hopeful for it because THAT was what outbreak should’ve been in Cold War. Same with Crapguard. I didn’t bother wasting my time playing the newer Modern Warfare games, but will only play this one for zombies. Until Treyarch releases their next game.
Really should have called it what it really is, a MW2 expansion. Might have been a bit better received if they did. MW3 really should have been allowed the usual 2 or 3 year development cycle.
Yk alot of people shit on iw story, people also hate the advance warfare story, and well alot of people hated bo3s story but in my personal opinion bo1 bo2 and iw story was probably the best in the whole series just my opinion but I just love the space fights
Contradictory to my username, I've actually never played a CoD game before this, I suck ass through a straw at FPS so I avoid them mostly, but my buds wanted me to play with them. I figured to get my feet wet I'd play the campaign of this before joining them. Holy shit, what a massive disappointment. Completely unimaginative and short. The biggest shock of my entire playthrough was seeing the credits roll so soon, and we don't even get the god damn bad guy??? First and last CoD purchase for me, now I'm off to get my ass fed to me in PvP. The expedite was by far my most used weapon, I'd just sprint at the enemy trying to unload in their face. Felt like a John Wick moment.
You hit it all on the head 100%!!! One exception to that rule- the reboot MW series has seriously broadened the parameters of CoD. Open world; decision making; stealth and I think that’s fucking cool. The problem being they slowly but surely are cutting corners with action by making it all fancy and trying to reinvent this wheel. The final missions of MW 2019 where you play as Alex and storm the compounds are insanely good and have a ton of cinematic gameplay and cutscenes. In MWII 2022 it got shortened and they added more options, and In MWIII it seems like they took away most options as well as massive combat missions and did exactly what you said. The 13 year old me keeps saying “NOoO iTS CoD!! Ur mAD tHeY DiD sOMeTHin DiFfERenT and aRE SETtiNG Up MWIV tO be aMAZiN!” But the adult in me is realizing I wasted $100 on DLC that was made by lazy, money hungry Devs with little care towards the franchise. Good review man, you nailed it. Unfortunately.
Brooo nooooo… say it aint so😑 Gtfoh… i wanna play zombies, admittedly thats my main focus but, i ALWAYS play the campaign. MW2 (new one not the OG) was lack luster as well and i never finished it.
I really enjoyed it, i liked the open world and i think with some polish and reworking it could really be something cool, but they do need to cut down on how many there are tho. The story was very rushed, but that wasn't really a problem for me as i really enjoyed the gameplay. Killing Soap was stupid as Gaz would have been a better choice. Gaz is my favorite character in the reboot series so i wouldn't want him to die but i would have made much more sense as he basically takes the place of OG Soap, it seems they just killed him for shock value and expected us to care because ge was in the OG. He was a decent character and would have became a great character if the bothered to make him an actual good character in the reboot. Overall it was alright and i had fun, im just can't wait for the full release for zombies and MP and the sort.
Only reason I see the campaign being so short is because most people now get COD for the multiplayer and Warzone/Zombies, not the campaign. I had no complaints for the story really aside from reinforcements coming in if you broke stealth, which sucked. The armored enemies were a pain too but added in the pain of the old Spec Ops missions. The whole hijacking mission was explained in the next cut scene as being an inside job, as the plane was leaving Russia. Similar to the flashback mission from Verdansk were the Police were part of Makarovs men, everyone on the Russian flight crew were Konni operatives. Its also seen when they're watching security footage from the facial recognition of Makarov that security never searched him after he set the metal detector off
People seriously thought these new CODs can beat the old classics? Modern CODs are nothing but cash grab, if you want the good campaign play the OG MW Trilogy

DO NOT GET FINESSED BY THE NOSTALGIA BAIT THAT THIS GAME IS THROWING AT YOU. if it keeps top selling nothing is ever gonna change.
"I can't fault the devs for trying new things"
No, you can fault them when they don't.
They just want quick and easy money…
Not all of them…but most of the times it‘s the ones we used to love and respect already.
And then…they just disrespect us like we are just some braindead zombies sitting in front of our screens all day.
Which may be true for some people i guess.
But what about the other ones ?
Glad to see the sales being down 25% this year for COD... Even the fanboys are turned off by all this nonsense
You guys can say anything about this campaign but they honestly make ghost sounds more scarier in this one than mw2 from how he jokes about face melting and also when they watched shepherd and shadow’s respond and they way he said “we’re gonna let this slide boss?” Or something like that sounds like he’s a villain rhan the hero in there
I think it's a little funny that a lot the fan base went and review bombed MW3... Only it was not this version.

The original mw3 campaign was so cool man, I remember finishing it like in middle school lol.
A 3 Act story that’s missing its 3rd act. Lol way to never let us down writers at Activision
All COD games are trash and bad
Normally I like cod campaigns, but this was the campaign that pushed me over the edge. I prefer the original MW3
I remember when people used to moan about the gunship missions.
IM GLAD I DIDNT BUY IT
I don't care.
Poor sledgehammer can’t catch a break. Their only good game was Advanced Warfare, and WWII was okay at best. Vanguard and MWIII suck so badly
i think its better as MW2 dlc instead of passing it off as new game, older dlc games if you remember in the old days, they were shorter between 1-4hrs long, full fledged campaigns in the vanilla base game should be roughtly 10-20 hrs long depending on the contents and length of the story, if you include mmo rpg, first person rpg, regular first person etc but this no, De-activision just wants your money and make too much room on your drives
Basically warzone gameplay in campaign, this really leans into it being a dlc
Imagine making a campaign thats worse than vanguard’s multiplayer and zombies
My reason being atleast both are way more fun and last 10x longer with being replayable
Really should have called it what it really is, a MW2 expansion. Might have been a bit better received if they did. MW3 really should have been allowed the usual 2 or 3 year development cycle.
mw3 must be a commercial failure for activision to learn a lesson and make the next game better, like they did with mw1 2019
If they did the shock missions like they used to call of duty would have its edge again.
When you care more about the money instead of the service you're providing its gonna be a bad product
Yk alot of people shit on iw story, people also hate the advance warfare story, and well alot of people hated bo3s story but in my personal opinion bo1 bo2 and iw story was probably the best in the whole series just my opinion but I just love the space fights
I think if they added 5 more missions it would have been average at best
Felt like a John Wick moment.
another day another video shitting on mw3😂
Same scenario with zombies they r trying to bring in pvp players to zombies and alienating the zombies player base at the same time
it hasnt been this bad since ET on atari
Brooo nooooo… say it aint so😑
Gtfoh… i wanna play zombies, admittedly thats my main focus but, i ALWAYS play the campaign. MW2 (new one not the OG) was lack luster as well and i never finished it.
You play Tom Clancy's ghost recon breakpoint its fun
Only reason he's killed is because he's killed with Ghost in the original by Shepherd. At least this time Shepherd is the other one dying.
They need to stop killing Soap He is a OG like Captain Price
Soap is just the standin for them wanting COD SP to die so they can just focus on CODNite.
Dw soap will be brought back in mwIII seasons.
Its also seen when they're watching security footage from the facial recognition of Makarov that security never searched him after he set the metal detector off
imo the campaign felt rushed they couldve so much potential when making this but they kinda took the lazy route
CoD in 2023?! Mfs really enslaved to this trash af franchise...Yikes couldn't be me.
People seriously thought these new CODs can beat the old classics? Modern CODs are nothing but cash grab, if you want the good campaign play the OG MW Trilogy
I don't think anyone thought that bud.
Bro how can this be worse than the bo3 campaign?😂
I still think it’s a tad bit better just because the characters are better imo
It's not.
Nahh bro bo3 campaign was way better than that garbage. I mean it's only your opinion but come on it isn't that bad. The only worse campaign in the cod vanguards one.
No it wasn't
Almost feels like a ghost recon break point
Nah you should sh1t on the devs they've been misreading the room ever since warzone dropped and made awful decisions on how to improve the game endlessly driving the player base away ever since
At the end of the day we paid for half of a game.
No you didn't, you paid for a full game and got apart of it early.
@@Captain_Redfield you're assuming they'll deliver a finished product eventually. MP is basically DLC too as most of the stuff is carry over from MW2. MW2 was more complete of a game than MW3. The only real content you're getting is the Campaign.
@@nylocks8433 How you completely forgot about how much they added to MP? Plus there is going to be coop must likely, plus zombies, plus warzone at some point. I don't care if it's finished or not I just know I'm going to have fun regardless.
Black Ops III is horrible I played on Veteran instead of realistic wasn't fun I beat Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Campaign was much better also Multiplayer only thing that sucks in whole series
Has anyone seen Dr Disrespects MWIII launch? It’s hilarious!
Yeah that clip is hilarious
I feel like for the next game when they take down makarov the ultimate thing to bring the series back to the best campaign ever would be TF141 and Adler's squad teaming up to take down makarov and maybe graves depending if he will go for price for taking out Shepard (I highly doubt he will ever find out price took out Shepard tho)
Watching people play it, it seems like a verry good DLC!🤣
9:18 Zero chance it would’ve been a $15 expansion.
Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways is a $10 expansion and that’s like 5-6 hours long. Although Activision would likely overprice it so yeah.
@@GhillieMaster except you weren’t just going to get MP… and even if you weren’t, why want to stay on MW2 for another year?
Man im glad im skipping this game i mainly buy cod for zombies or story im not a pvp guy n this story is awful
