I honestly like how they put the washer and dryer hookups in the bathroom. I think that’s where they belong and not in the bedroom. But if I bought one with washer and dryer hookups in the bedroom, I wouldn’t care. But that’s my opinion.
I'd kinda like the washer and dryer to be accessible outside the bathroom when there's only 1 bathroom. I spent some of my childhood like that it was terrible, because you'd often have to wait for someone to finish something in order to do what you needed to. Of course, if I had to pick between bathroom and bedroom, definitely would put it in the bathroom, especially like in this setup. Laundry machines get way too loud to be able to use in a bedroom comfortably. With this one not only is it *not* in the bedroom, but it has an extra layer of space and another wall between it and the bedroom.
That’s incredibly built for sure. Wish the colours were a bit more modern and I HATE the floor vents. But you surely wouldn’t have the headaches with this unit. It’s incredible.
I love this DRV it’s very nice. I love the color of wood. Love the washer and dryer in the bathroom. That’s way nice. Love the bedroom and the closet and the dresser and dresser drawers. Thank you for showing this fifth wheel JD.
I agree, we bought the JX450 which is similar but has the toy hauler. We are in the process of painting the wallboard. We cant paint the dark wood cabinets and they dont sell it with white cabinets so this was the only option to make it a bit more modern. That awful wallboard is from the 70's yet most manufacturers seem to love it.
@@1coolvideo Maybe you can :) I know my limits. Flat surface i can manage, but all the wood detail would be a mess. I think what will happen is if we still have the unit in 2-3 years we will hire someone to do the job right, rather than take the hit and buy a new one. it will feel like new.
We just went to Elkhart IN and got the MORryde independent suspension and disc brake upgrade on our '17 Keystone Avalanche. The custom factory install has more welds to the frame than DRV installation does. DRV installs the suspension in house and sends each unit to MORryde for wheel alignment prior to full body paint. The new suspension is awesome, I don't feel the RV going over bumps in the road any more. The brakes make us feel much safer especially in heavy stop and go traffic. It's too expensive for those that don't use their RV much, but we have been full time for over 2.5 years. We were pleased to get a 10% winter discount (I think this is available until the end of February)
Great review as always. This is my #1 choice if I decide to upgrade. This is extremely well built, considering the 21K GVWR in a 39 foot rig. I like the single gray tank with it's own flushing port. My only comments, is that I don't prefer cabinets above the bed, and I would like to see open shelving or shoe holders in the very front of the bedroom closet.
i was just thinking as a starter home for a first time buyer, a used version of this would be an economical way to go but this will lose value over time whereas a proper home on a foundation will gain value. i think the money saved in an rv could be more than the value gained in a home on foundation.
We bought our first RV - a 2019 DRV 36RSSB3 - in January. We started full-timing last month. I don't think I'd consider anything other than a DRV if and when we change RVs in the future.
We bought a 2008 36RKSB3 new and full timed for 5 years and loved the experience and will do it again when I retire for good in about a year. I love the DRV products, but one VERY important thing to consider....replacement cost for everything. Things like refrigerator, ac units, water heaters, roofs, etc., they don’t last forever, they don’t even last close to anything in a home. If you move your unit frequently, keep in mind you are putting it thru an experience similar to a small earthquake every time you do so. My best advice is to keep good tires on it, always perform preventative maintenance on EVERYTHING that you can, and keep some money set back, so if there is an emergency repair that is not covered under warranty, it will not hurt the pocketbook as bad. I will probably purchase another DRV, but will try and find one about a year old, previously owned, that will bring the price down and make it more affordable. My best of luck to you, and hope you enjoy full timing as much as we do!
I'd make some small changes to the living space, like moving the sofa bed out of the alcove to where the theater seating's at and just getting rid of that part, since deploying the sofa bed tends to obstruct the theater seating too much. That alcove would be better served for some additional storage or even just as a nice place to sit and draw. Overall, though, I really like it. There's a lot of potential with it, even as shown.
Like that they put end tables at the sofa. So many RVs have no place to put your beverage. The fireplace drawer is clever. Like the W/D in the bathroom. Otherwise, it's the same old boring floorplan so many 5th wheels have.
I would love if some of these RV tour videos focused on the big picture instead of walking through and reading off a list of components. This RV we’re more awesome to see the big outside picture from multiple angles. Then show the bathroom as bright sunny and spacious. I don’t think anyone is buying one of these because of drawer pulls and pocket doors. I want to focus on the dream of owning a big beautiful RV. I want to think what it would be like to drive it to the coast and setting it up with me and the kids and cooking a big breakfast, or sitting outside by a fire at night. Just a thought
Hi Big - I noticed in this model, a reasonable "air gap" between the range and an adjacent cabinet/fridge/wall. Something we have noticed with our first RV, we are foodies and like to cook - and is also being much more convenient while traveling. Using the range for any length of time at all starts to heat up the side of the pantry, only about 3 or 4 inches from the cooktop. This seems like a large safety concern, and as we have been shopping for our next rig, it is almost impossible to find something with counter space on both sides of the range. I'll also add that it is incredibly difficult for food prep with minimal space. Thoughts?
I just bought a sandpiper 3075 dbok. I’m towing it with a 2016 F-250 with a 6.2. The camper is high in the front when I’m towing. I need to adjust the hitch (Husky 16k manual slider) How much clearance do I need between the cap and the bed.
In the market for a 5th’r and this channel has assisted me in a lot of my decision. One thing I can understand is why in 2024 months away from 2025 are some trailers still having cheese grater vents on the floor? Anyone that can educate me I would greatly appreciate it. Side note I’m leaning towards Brinkley. Thanks
Love the layout and the frame. Washer in the bathroom is best option seen to date. I have to admit though, the "not quite golden oak" makes it feel dated. Luckily, cabinetry is optional and you can get another color if you want. This is one of the best floorplans I've seen for us as a couple's 5er.
I like the look of the outside and inside but I don’t like how they put the electrical plugs 🔌 two I saw under the water lines in the storage area. Maybe put them on the other side maybe.
I am used to the fact that my sense of taste is vastly different from JD's and the majority of the 5th wheel market, I think that paint job is gawdy and ugly, tastes differ. I am confused that the same guy I have seen be very particular about the frame coating process on trucks has no problem with all the rust on this high end RV. The hitch, the slide mechanisms and the frame are all showing massive amounts of rust and finish that is already worn off.
Someone just posted a 2014 DRV 38RSSA on a local garage sale page for $70k. Assuming no major problems, is that a decent price for an 8-year-old model?
I'm concerned about having just two axles for up to 21,000 pounds. With 10-15% on the hitch that is still a lot for the axles and tires. Expected three axles like a Toy Hauler.
Only comment is that Dometic 3-zone air system.. We have that on our current camper and HATE IT... Maybe for modern techies it's fine, but for somewhat older folks, that thing is way too overly complicated. Why not just have 2 (or 3 depending on AC unit numbers) simple thermostats with on/off and temp settings for either heat or air? DRV makes a seriously good, higher-end camper and they're built extremely well...
Very Nice! But I'm looking for a high end toy hauler. AND, I just found out from the head of sales, Vanleigh is coming out with a toy hauler next year!!!!!!!!! He/they haven't announced it publicly as of this date, but told me it is ok to say so.
Structurally, top notch, very well engineered, but . . . . like Chels (comment below) said, and I've seen this over and over in new RV's, the interior esthetic needs to get out of the early 1990's and into the 2020's - bleh! The over-carved cabinets; honey wood tones; wood panelling; the dining chairs and ceiling fan - had those when I got my first apartment (in 1994); the hot mess of a lighting contraption over the kitchen island; chunky carved valences over the windows; Two different styles of glass tiles above each other on one wall . . . Why? The poofy, overstuffed "lazyboy" style sofas . . . etc. It kills me to think that in considering purchasing one of these models, for the amount of money they cost, I'm still going to have to gut and reno, and bring the interior style into 2022. DRV needs to hire some actual, certified interior designers (that are younger than 65).

Damn I wish I could afford that RV. I love the washer/dryer in the bathroom.
Me too. That’s genius having washer dryer in bathroom. LOVE THAT
Buy xrp google it
That’s incredibly built for sure. Wish the colours were a bit more modern and I HATE the floor vents. But you surely wouldn’t have the headaches with this unit. It’s incredible.
DRV is a "Custom Built" brand - ask for WHAT you want !!)
Not sure why they keep making these RV's like pre 80's, like the new generation is getting older (Gen x) and don't want that, I know I don't lol
Very nice RV. Spacious, beautiful and great facilities. Awesome quality.
Wow! We both were gobsmacked. Thanks for showing us this DRV
I love this DRV it’s very nice. I love the color of wood. Love the washer and dryer in the bathroom. That’s way nice. Love the bedroom and the closet and the dresser and dresser drawers. Thank you for showing this fifth wheel JD.
They are very beautiful! We have a 2014 38TKSB3 DRV and we full time. Definitely worth the money!
That drawer behind the fireplace is for storing the 🔥wood. 😂🤣😜
It's for storing something that you don't mind getting toasty
I've got to say, I love the extras and how it's built, structurally.
Very tasteful. Understated except for the paint. The interior is gorgeous! The water manifold was my fave.
Great job on the video! Not digging the interior too much. I wish these places would catch up on the times when it comes to decor. 🤷♀️

But what if I like the looks of 1970s interior decor?
for the price they're charging if the company wouldn't let me customize it to my liking I would go elsewhere.
My favorite RV reviewed to date. Love the wood and outside paint scheme.
Really love the service bay and the water manifold.

One of the only RV's actually built with decent engineering and construction.
you get what you pay for

Wow! I was really surprised that unit was not higher priced. That is a quite reasonable when you account for the fact it's a 'full time' unit.
It's absolutely gorgeous. I love ❤️ just the way it is bc I love wood.
I like the floor plan of this RV and it is so very nice and my family would like to sleep in this some place in the mountains of Colorado
That is an awesome unit! Can't wait to go full time!
Absolutely beautiful! With one exception. Yes, what I always complain about.....vents on the floor in the living/kitchen area.
If they could just move them to the side it would be so much better
Has a older feel with new look nice still awesome what you are doing for that school band

Excellent review like always👍

Seems very solid
the 80's called and want their interior back

Love everything about this.
I don’t imagine it’s available still? It’s wonderful
Love the layout. Washer and dryer in bathroom is great! When did this vendor start.
Other than I'd rather have a four burner stove I like how well lit and I like the detail showing of these units 👌 👍
I absolutely love this one.
That's just impressive as hell.

Now that's is 1 beautiful 5th wheel. Thanks for sharing JD. Love the exterior paint. That would also look great going down the road behind your F-450.
A heavier trailer, better suited to tow behind a REAL Truck
(often set up with Air-over-hydraulic disk brakes !)
What a Beauty!
I would've thought such a luxurious 5the wheel would've had a vacuum cleaner system.

Awesome RV & video.

When are they giving it away?? Would like a tub

Gorgeous fifth wheel. I think a bit darker wood tone would be better, but that is my opinion.
Only thing I did not like was the furnace ducts in the floor.
That's pretty much where all of them are, right?
really nice
The thing I always wonder while watching these videos is how do you get that giant refrigerator out when it breaks?
What a nice trailer
Nice review, thanks. It would be nice to have actual measurements for spaces and countertops.

I had 1st noticed it On the nuts and bolts
Those cabinets don’t feel hollow or cheap. But strippers do 🥸😢😭🤡🤠
I really really like that residential style plumbing system, but gaaa dang it looks like a rushed mess In there.
Can you share what the Axle rating is on the DRV 38RSSA
thermostat in cabinet?
they need a residental stove. it's great with full dishwasher. i prefer front kitchen. it's away from living area
Can you do a video on a luxurious 1 1/2 bath with great storage that is one ton sw towable?
My husband is 6'5 and 310 lbs and would like advice on what would be best for and durable brands of fifth wheels.
Same here but it’s my son that has to duck when he visits.
@@jammingwithibeas1949 I feel ya, both all the men in my life are extremely tall. Both my sons and husband.
VERY nice
Out of curiosity, what would happen if this was towed with a half ton truck? Other than the obvious like the tires popping.....
Axle snapping, engine and transmission burning up, driveshaft snapping....
VERY NICE...MISSED THE WEIGHT????
Lovely.
Nice unit

omgnothingisavl it’s wood. What color did you expect? That gray plastic looking color with some ugly bluish/purple back lighting?

True.

David Coupland Axles May be rated for 12K lbs each, depends on how it was spec’d. They can be ordered in many configurations
Sweet.
21k lbs! Wow
My question is why stack 2 6” rails instead of just using a 12” beam
An I-beam only provides strength in one direction, in this situation up & down. Box or rectangle tubing also provides side to side strength.
Does it have a full fiberglass roof? If not, forget it
It actually does
Big Truck Big RV that is great, I wish you would mention that during your review
Big Truck Big RV separately, previously you would note the suggested price, and what is a more realistic price. I note you did not do that this time
Love it

Can a SRW 1 ton truck handle?
Boy howdy!!! That sher beets a tent, camp stov, lanturn, air matress, sleping bag, ise chest and flashlight. Hyuk, hyuk, hyuk!!! Garsh.t
Why would you put stove next to the tv???

DRV has the Full House Toy Hauler, a real luxury toy hauler.
Awesome RV but I doubt my F-150 will tow it.
Hmmm... I love to cook and eat... but this thing is all kitchen. I’d rather have a smaller kitchen and larger living room.
Same.
why cant they put those air ducs on the side of the floor to me thats old school to me just saying
