  • I've always wanted to see if I could put a crocheted granny square in resin! Today I'm going to attempt to make a coaster with one. This is so fun and there are so many things to try with this technique using epoxy resin. Gift, sell or keep this DIY Epoxy Resin Project!

    *I said I bought the granny squares on Amazon, but actually it was on Etsy. There are a lot for sale there and you would not need to buy the large bag that I did. Or even better... make one! ❤️
    These are similar to the ones I bought:

    Great idea and well done on fixing it air bubbles.
    The Air-Less... it's not for molds but for a cup before you pour your resin. Maybe you know this already, but I thought I'd mention it 😊 ❤

    This was a great tutorial on not giving in to flaws! Perseverance is the name of the game! I’ve lived enough decades that I should have heard what these little pieces were called, granny squares!! The whole project is just too stinkin’ cute. Thanks, Barbara! Another fun video. Later, y

    If you try the vacuum machine, put your granny square into the cup of resin and put the cup in the machine. It will pull all of the air out of the granny square and replace it with resin.

    I put a doily in resin, which was basically a cotton crochet piece. I used a deep pour resin as it takes long to cure and therefore gave me plenty of time to de-gas mine worked really well I did a back ground layer in a different colour and it was beautiful. I agree with thw low viscosity comment that might work too 😊

    I have my Grand mothers first granny squares she made them over 100 years ago this will ne a great way to preserve them! I am giving my granddaughters each a set Thank You!

      Great idea Lynne! Especially if you have a lot of them, so if the resin yellows over time, you'll still have keepsakes!

      I was thinking the same thing! I have an old lace throw that's been passed down through the generations but it's falling apart. What a cool way to preserve it and turn into a usable object!

    You could try using a deep pour resin to allow it to soak and let bubbles escape

  • @JuliasCraftyChaos
    @JuliasCraftyChaos 6 місяців тому +1

    Maybe when you soak the granny square, use a low viscosity resin. A thicker resin would take longer to soak in. Just a thought. Btw... I love my resiners bubble machine❤️

    If you soak the square then leave it to set in another mold before you put it in your coaster it should help with the bubble problem that's what I do 😊

  • @Ali-H3444
    @Ali-H3444 6 місяців тому +1

    You can drill the bubbles then fill them. I like it, but with only 3 feet it might tilt when you put a drink on it.

      There are 3 feet and an equally sized bubble. haha sits flat. 🤣
