I almost bit on the mini play a couple of years ago. It looks better but they could have at least added a looper if they weren't going to add a sequencer.
@@KINGBRILLIANCE1 I don't have the means of testing it rn. However, FL Studio always had issues when calculating repetitive notes in real time. Hence why the AKAI Fire didn't have a note repeat function. I have a super old video about it. When I owned the MPD232. It works but sounds like crap until you're don't recording.
Hey man, great video!! I bought an Akai Mini Play mk3 and a Midiplus usb midi host to midi control a Korg electribe 2, but I can't send midi signals. Do you know if this configuration is compatible? I really need help!! Thank you in advance
Works ran ext source thru the sp EQ with all 3 knobs all the way up backed off the volume on the sp to its standard 3/4 position and was able to get the input gain on mpc one turned up to an acceptable level with no usb static.
Stupid question: Are there sounds already in the unit or do you have to load them from the computer? I’m looking for a regular drum kit plus the congas and bongos and stuff like the clap sound.
I'm pretty positive the sounds are already inside the mpk mini play series. As long as it says play on the unit name it should have the sounds loaded into it!
The sonicware stuff wasn’t that loud to begin with… in terms of value of the three to me I would probably get a microfreak … I also sold my microfreak and liven xfm so … I am particular
@@AveMcree so are some pokemon😂 I couldn’t get into the sound and I sold it at full price. I feel ya though. Probably shouldn’t have sold my microfreak, but I kinda want a hydrasynth explorer or a dreadbox nymphes… something to compliment the mpc nicely
Love MPCs but not a fan of mpks or lpks. Was curious if this was gonna have some Alesis (Micron most likely) sounds. Can't complain at price point tho.
@@AveMcree Think it was an IG so can't share but saw one guy playing a circular keyboard (picture the ring of Saturn) I'll never not love cathedral organs - sod your "Rhodes like VST"
Not a fan of the joysticks on the minis to be honest but all the mk3s have much better keybeds and pads than previous versions. Plays built in sounds are trash without effects tho lol. Works great for lofi stuff
@@AveMcree noooo lol. But hey it’s an acceptable sacrifice for such a fully featured controller as small as it is. Feel like I’m playing the PS5 Production Center 😂.
For a sound module/mini synth it looks pretty mediocre to me and besides that, it doesn't have any qualities that a dedicated midi controller can't do better. Not sure why this got any seal of approval. A meh-sounding synth at $150 is still meh.

My pleasure!
No other review touches the percussion part which is what I am looking for. Thank you!

Thanks for the scoop Ave. This is definitely going into the setup. Wishing you a peaceful weekend ☮
It’s a part of my everyday carry to make music on the go as well as the Yamaha fgdp-30 for making music on the go it’s perfect
Your videos are some of the most entertaining/informative I've seen, much appreciated
Ave Mcree slapped up the big 100k subs congratulations!!
🙏🏾
Thanks for keeping it real with the reviews fam. Congrats on making it to 100k as well 🔥
Thanks
@@AveMcree Do you get a trophy now ("giant UA-cam logo" or something)?
And will you be reviewing the trophy?
Be cool if I could take my projects files and put the SD in a MPC QUICK MIX. Lol. Nice vid bro!!!
Buzzing could be a ground loop between the audio and USB - seems like Akai should have fixed that, at least between two pieces of their own gear
Helpful review, thanks!
Hello, I wanted a service from you. I bought an akai machine and I want to record the rhythm on the board, not on the computer. What should I press?
The Full Level button only works for the pads or does it work for the keyboard also ?
Great review. Would be nice if it had Blue Tooth. Thanks for the vid Ave
That would be cool
Copped from your link💪🙏🏽💯
Me being off topic but what gadget are you using for overhead camera view @Ave McGee?📌🙏
Panasonic g85 with kit lens
@@AveMcree nooo..what stand/structure do you use, not camera? Sorry to confuse🙏
I still like my keystep but looks interesting cause it had pads but I like the sequencer on keystep
I wanna know if the note repeat works in FL accurately. If I could get the note repeat to sync with the piano roll in FL I might......
You can sync it in the MIDI settings... Make sure you select the MPK as a device.
@@AveMcree that device doesn't exist ave. You feel like testing it?

I am going to try and run the mpk mini play mk3 thru my sp404a see if it will help with the usb noise….

Does the mini play have transport control for DAW usage?

If it had 5 pin midi ports I would get it, that's the biggest downside to me, I love the idea of this though
that's a huge problem with most budget midi controllers
If your laptop has speakers what’s the point🤷🏾♂️
It’s has built in sounds
standalone device
Easier portability and space saver.
Can you show me how to midi map this keyboard?
How do you use it in fl studio? Using the sounds out of the Mk mini
Buzzing is caused by a ground loop. Get a 3.5mm ground loop isolator and run your headphone cable through it.
Would of been cool if they added a SD slot so you can add your own sounds..
I have the previous iteration of the mini play. I’m wondering if the sounds are the same and this was just a design change.
I believe so

More sounds and this would have been interesting.
Thanks for the content as always, bruv!
Sure thing!
Plus the software and expansions that come with makes the cost a double bonus.
I need the Nightlife Expansion to be released publicly.
Thank You!
It's perfect for my live looping rig. Portable and I don't need to hook it up to a computer
Akai needs to break the mold and come out with a full 61 or 49 key MPC Keyboard. That would be mind blowing.
That would be cool
Thank you.
Mpc key 61 is rumored to be otw
