I’m feeling 3.0 after some bug fixes but I really wish Akai would allow the OS to remember our zoom states in the grid. And implement a “fold” feature for the grid so you don’t have to zoom in EVERY time to see things or have to scroll so much to get to the notes we’ve input so we can edit them. I hate that it zooms all the way back out whenever you leave the grid. And I hate how they don’t allow you to set default folders for when you open the browser. I’d like to be able yo set default save folders for presets and things. Whenever I save a preset I’m digging through certain folders to get to the location I want to save it in since I use my ssd instead of the internal drive. It would be nice if they treated data in the arrangement view as clips that can be moved around and edited individually. Maybe I’m doing it wrong but that just seems like a no brainer to me. Just some QOL features that would make navigating less cumbersome and annoying.

unpopular opinion: I'm not updating. worked too hard since 2022 to perfect my MPC workflow with track mutes + sequencing for doing live sets. I'm happy with 2.15!
It works pretty well the same. What would have to happen is if like me you create multiple different sequences that you have to separate the tracks of the different sequences and it works.
If you’re reading this Akai, please give us an option to zoom to fit window in the Grid View (i.e. scale the grid based on the midi notes already written). Having to zoom in A LOT every time you open the grid can get hella annoying. But not all complaints; MPC 3 is dope and got me hyped on using the machine again 👊🏾

Loving the 3.0 beta so far. One thing to potentially address, on the mute screen we no longer have a live visual for the track that is generating sound. Back on 2.0 it was easy to tell which track was which, without any thought of what was on the track. It would be amazing to see this in 3.0!

I am definitely happy with their progress and frequency of updates. We are getting there. I really want to be able to open my legacy pre 2.0 MPC projects so I can finish them in 3.0 (those loaded in 2.0) so crossing my fingers, but I think it’ll come eventually.
@@AveMcree I can send you a vid but my MPC Live 2 Retro, and Keys crashes when I try to load them. 2.0 projects work fine.. but anything before 2.0 causes an internal error and the units fully reload.

I like the fact MPC3.0 is getting much better. One of my issues is that your only limited to 6 locators for the song structure. It would be cool if we could have more 😅
I'm happy with the progress so far. I'm glad to have the midi data vs audio mute as a toggle. I wondered how they would handle the bind of people preferring one over the other and the solution, including the icon representation of it on the tracks on the mute screen, is clever. I use controller mode for 2.15 as needed, but honestly, I have found no need to revert to 2.15 to create a new jam project from scratch. I definitely have adapted to the interface and it feels much quicker to work in when in a groove.
I just got the email this morning and downloaded it. So much better with the event mutes. Now if they can get it to where you can get block style arranger and some ableton style audio stretching/warping then it would be pretty perfect

I really like the new Drum Pads as Stems feature. But you know what would be really dope🤔 Being about to take an existing drum loop from a loop pack and stem out the kick, snare, hihat, etc... Maybe you could bring this up in a future video so that Akai would consider adding this to the next update. What do you think?

Damn, I keep on forgetting abouttime signatures. By the way, almost any sample with a different time signature can be translated into 4/4. However, it’s important that people be able to do other time signatures.

Drum Pads As Stems. Glad to see this added; begged for this since MPC 1.0. Machine has been able to do that for over a decade. Glad you pointed out that the Track Mute options is not new. It is just functionality that was added back just in a different place.

Definitely gotta check this out. My only big complaint has been that my tracks with multiple tracks of the same drum/chop program don't load correctly. I could somewhat fix it myself but then my track mutes would be all out of wack. I would make tracks like that in 2.0 and I don't want to lose like all my beats in 3.0
My Mpc live 2 never overdubs I always have to hit the overdub button multiple times to get it to record anything. I hope this issue is resolved it wasn’t resolved on mpc3.2 so let’s hope they fixed it with this update
Two of the biggest problems I have with the MPC three software 1. exporting my song into stems, literally takes forever to render and export. 2. When I use the track mute function to arrange my song through song mode, the tracks that I mute out that I don’t want automatically come back on for some weird reason when I’m in song mode. Hopefully Akai will fix these issues.
I always click your thumbnail first. Then checkout the rest. You always got the pertinent info. Side note I just upgraded to 3. Who has the most comprehensive training? As I plan to integrate standalone workflow midi'd to my DAW which is Protools?
Seeing that Akai is listening gives me hope that FORCE will get a meaningful update in the near future. I love my MPC but FORCE is my trusty workhorse. Secretly I'm hoping for a FORCE MK2 that fuses the two OS's into one, so Akai can focus all it's development budget on one OS.
That's the only reason I've downgraded to 2.15 and waiting😮💨Still trying to be optimistic about return of Clip Programs, since I am using them a lot in live sets, MPC3 flow does not provide a way to play loops quantized, with mute groups, etc. I was just excellent for what it does I saw a lot of complains on their forum as well, only way we can affect it is a feedback I guess Post feedback about it please if you didn't yet

I couldn’t get ahold of in music. The midi sync still sucks and sounds like crap when it even comes close. Lots of glitch bleeds over from the clock. Hope akai gets this feedback
My only issue…and why I stopped using my MPC X (Theo be i have 3.0 on) and started using my MPC One (which has 2.something on it) is cuz I pulled up a beat I was bout to track out, and the drums were missing, it showed the midi info, but there was no sound…. Are you saying that issue has been fixed? Cuz I planned on converting back to 2.0 this week, if it’s fixed, I’ll keep it But it slowed down my production, I haven’t made a beat in a couple months, I only pulled up old beats and tracked out on my mpc one.. since I ran into that issue
I just wanna say. I don't like my MPC , but this 3.0 is satisfying. I understand it better this way. The menu dive is decent. And I understand the sequencer better. It a BOX with a DAW
I like that they added the pads-to-stems feature because I like my engineer to be able to bring a kick down without bringing everything else down, if need be. So, what I was always doing was making a drum loop and copying that loop multiple times and erasing the kicks and the snares for the hi hat track, as an example, then doing that twice over. Now I can just get all that done and save the pads-to-stems, say less!
@@AveMcree I'm not saying the surprising the full song into individual stems but the individual track where each pad on that is separated. If you did a video on that, idk how I missed it because I feel like I watch all your joints.

Export drum stems is awesome. Is there a way to export the drums as stems with the whole beat? In 2.0 we had to explode the drums first and then export the beat. Which was annoying cuz I'd accidentally save the beat with the drums exploded

@@AveMcree yes but then u have to scroll up 12 semitones i would love to be able to do it like in the software you hit “shift” and press upp to copy notes up. Using the transpose take a bit of time and interrupts the workflow .

@@AveMcree The issue isn’t me or what I’m doing because that functionality was built into the 2.x.x software. If I had wanted to do it differently, I would put it in a DAW first and do it that way. Not going to repair three hundred projects…that’s ridiculous! If they going to not support a function in the future, don’t make it available to use in the first place. Cubase 13 doesn’t break Cubase 12 projects. Ableton Live 12 doesn’t break Ableton Live 11 projects. Studio One 7 doesn’t break Studio One 6 projects. I don’t “record”. I compose. The Song Mode is a record of my compositions before going into a final sequence. They later can be edited if I want to make a longer or shorter performance. Beta 3 is obliterating the note record.
hey man, just got my Mpc live 2 this month after 1 year thinking and saving for it. I'm having a Problem connecting it to my Mac currently using Mac OS ventura 13.4 but when I Connect with the right cables just says I Don't have the latest driver. I did everything I could but it seems that I cannot connect... it nas i can't put and expasions on my stand alone... does anybody here know how to solve this Problem?
How/ Where do i go to tell akai to make a "trim silence" process in sample edit, and also bounce/render pad in place after program editing it like the way koala does, matter of fact they should just steal all the Koala features and impliment them like the "loop fade" edit and be able to loop pads also. Or Do i just not know how to do this, if anyone knows lmk im a MPC one+ noob
If the problem isn’t consistent, I don’t know what the solution would be. I know I’ve had an issue in beta two with certain sounds playing a note higher in pitch. However, that problem was resolved.
I had a memory problem with my 3 beta. I would hardly finish a project, but my screen would pop up and say my memory was low. Has anyone else had this problem??
Idk who you get your information from but programs still work the exact same way in 3.0. Do me a solid and slap tf out of whomever told you they were gone. Have a nice day

MPC3 has no Time Signatures???? It has been dumbed down to the Force???? Not even Waltzes (3/4 or 6/8). I can't believe this!!!! (Note, 3/4 is NOT 4/4 triplets or 2/4 triplets it is 3 beats per MEASURE (loop length = 3 NOT 4!!!!) in quarter notes). Four-on-the-Floor plus the Amen Break???? I call BS on Akai!! Workarounds will screw up the BPM if you have to sync ANYTHING else in triple meter!! And what of Karsilama (9/8), Take Five, and Blue Rondo a la Turk (Dave Brubeck standards)

I downloaded that first beta update and tried playing around on my MPC Live 2 for about 20 minutes. That was the last time I turned it on. Just listed it on marketplace for $800. They killed my interest in music production completely.

This made me wonder if AKAI could do custom OS workflows. The AVE version, the Bolo version, the Dupri version etc etc. I'd pay 100 bucks for that over a generalized version. AKAI is missing out on some money.

I like the GUI. I'm being plagued by an error when I try to sample in stand alone. "Unable to prepare recorder"
Maybe you should use your One or another MPC with 2.15 and do side by side comparisons?

Solid update. One feature I really miss is being able to open the project folder to load pgm’s from other projects

What SD card size and type would you recommend getting for the mpc one plus that is the unit I am looking at purchasing?
Event muting lets my delays and reverb play out instead of a hard audio mute. But having the ability to mute audio too is dope.

you've always had the option of separating a finished track into stems... I've done a video on that at least 8 times....

Ever since I switched the 3.0…. keep getting error saving MPC project message… MPC 37. & MPC two. Change flash drives and SD cards.
I made a beat in 3.0 then went to controller mode for vocals and it will not let me upload it. Are you experiencing this?

Any1 else having this issue??? When I go to use stems, when I choose the track I want the stems to go on, nothing shows up! Smh haven't Been able to properly use stems since the new update! Smmfh 🤦🏿♂️

Nice!! Do you know if you now can copy notes up or down an octave ? They really should implement this.
There’s several ways to do exactly that in every version of the MPC firmware. There’s literally an option on the main screen called transpose.
@@AveMcree yes but then u have to scroll up 12 semitones i would love to be able to do it like in the software you hit “shift” and press upp to copy notes up.
Using the transpose take a bit of time and interrupts the workflow .
I know that this must have been covered but I missed this detail because I only had time to skim through the video...
So are instant track mutes still an option or is that over and done with at least for this iteration?
Will it open a file made under MPC 2.15.1 with track mutes set in sequences and preserve the settings in the file?
That issue has more to do with how your sequencing a project. The best thing to do is to ignore the track mutes and record them again
Also, I recommend plugging up your MPC to your computer to use the MPC software

The issue isn’t me or what I’m doing because that functionality was built into the 2.x.x software. If I had wanted to do it differently, I would put it in a DAW first and do it that way.
Not going to repair three hundred projects…that’s ridiculous!
If they going to not support a function in the future, don’t make it available to use in the first place. Cubase 13 doesn’t break Cubase 12 projects. Ableton Live 12 doesn’t break Ableton Live 11 projects. Studio One 7 doesn’t break Studio One 6 projects.
I don’t “record”. I compose. The Song Mode is a record of my compositions before going into a final sequence. They later can be edited if I want to make a longer or shorter performance. Beta 3 is obliterating the note record.

I use mutes as a way of arranging in real time… the fact that the drum stems no longer maintain the mute events is a bummer
hey man, just got my Mpc live 2 this month after 1 year thinking and saving for it. I'm having a Problem connecting it to my Mac currently using Mac OS ventura 13.4 but when I Connect with the right cables just says I Don't have the latest driver. I did everything I could but it seems that I cannot connect... it nas i can't put and expasions on my stand alone... does anybody here know how to solve this Problem?

You cant just sync the clock and record audio with a midi clock. It barely works and sounds so bad and static glitch on clean bass lines😢

How/ Where do i go to tell akai to make a "trim silence" process in sample edit, and also bounce/render pad in place after program editing it like the way koala does, matter of fact they should just steal all the Koala features and impliment them like the "loop fade" edit and be able to loop pads also. Or Do i just not know how to do this, if anyone knows lmk im a MPC one+ noob
I feel that the recent update has significantly increased the shutdown time of my MPC One
One problem I came across is that when you export your song into a sequence it doesn’t play back right. Don’t know if they fixed it in this update
If the problem isn’t consistent, I don’t know what the solution would be. I know I’ve had an issue in beta two with certain sounds playing a note higher in pitch. However, that problem was resolved.
Still waiting on alternate time signatures..
I had a memory problem with my 3 beta. I would hardly finish a project, but my screen would pop up and say my memory was low. Has anyone else had this problem??

MPC3 has no Time Signatures???? It has been dumbed down to the Force????
Not even Waltzes (3/4 or 6/8). I can't believe this!!!! (Note, 3/4 is NOT 4/4 triplets or 2/4 triplets it is 3 beats per MEASURE (loop length = 3 NOT 4!!!!) in quarter notes).

Workarounds will screw up the BPM if you have to sync ANYTHING else in triple meter!! And what of Karsilama (9/8), Take Five, and Blue Rondo a la Turk (Dave Brubeck standards)
my mp wont update online. it wont go past 3.4 base, just goes to controller mode when choosing online update. fuckin akai...

I downloaded that first beta update and tried playing around on my MPC Live 2 for about 20 minutes. That was the last time I turned it on. Just listed it on marketplace for $800. They killed my interest in music production completely.
Why not just keep it in MPC 2.15?

This made me wonder if AKAI could do custom OS workflows. The AVE version, the Bolo version, the Dupri version etc etc. I'd pay 100 bucks for that over a generalized version. AKAI is missing out on some money.
