Barry is such a great interview. We need more from him. He would thrive with his own podcast actually with how long he's been in the business and all the legends he has wrestled.

John Nord was funny in the WBF tug of war. He told one of the bodybuilders "I've taken bigger pills than you!" I'm amazed he wasn't fired after that.

Barry Horowitz and George South are THE BEST interviews on any podcast. Their legit love and actual enthusiasm for the BUSINESS (as we remember it way back when) gets ME enthused as well. I find myself grinning the whole time. In James' native... Good show, old boy.
Man, I remember being a little boy and so happy that he beat Skip... I wish his push never ended.

Barry is so spot on about Bret Hart always being late. When he signed with WCW he asked it to be in his contract that he can be late
He certainly wasn't the only one in WCW. Eric had to address this on a couple of occasions with the locker room. I'm sure Hogan,Nash,and Hall never looked at their watches.
What a nice guy. No wonder he never made it to the top.
@@curthennig9448 apparently when Jericho first got hired, he showed up for TV at 9am as scheduled, and the only others there were Hall and Nash lol. Still sporting their WWF punctuality at the time. They all laughed that nobody else showed up for 2 hours and the new guys were the only ones on time.
@@tonylego2364 I would venture to say that as Hall and Nash's clout behind the scenes grew, they were coming to the building when they wanted too(for the most part). Then it was off to Hogan's trailer for a little pre-Nitro party.
I must repeat myself: Barry is so good at talking that I hope we have more interviews with him and James in the future.

Makes you wonder how they missed this guy for a big push back in the day. I know he was small, but he was an excellent worker and never really got a chance to show his mike skills. Clearly from these interviews he would have been fantastic on the mike.
I've seen John Nord on shoot interviews (BTW, RIP Dan MIrade from Boston Wrestling).
Outside of the Berzerker character, Nord can be a really funny guy to listen to (on liquid courage or not).
He ain't afraid of holding back on the truth in alot of cases too. He is funny.

If he was as mean as he portrayed in character, John Anthony Tenta Jr. is one of the last wrestlers to drop to a knee. The man was a redwood with deceptive agility. LSU collegiate, football player, rugby player, bouncer, and most impressively, went 24-0 in 8 months sumo wrestling in Japan. Obviously MMA has evolved and changed the way we now approach fighting, but in his time, John was definitely a force!
Quake was amazing. He beat Yokozuna in sumo wrestling, which was probably the most ironic match ever as Yoko was not a real sumo wrestler but John was a pro. And he made Yoko look small in that match. Can't say that about anyone else except Andre...
Two names I’ve heard outside of Haku, Barbarian and Harely Race, that no one absolutely wanted to fuck with were John Tenta (Earthquake) and Dan Spivey (Waylon Mercy).

Him mentioning Nailz aka Kevin Kelly kinda made me giggle, reminding me WWF also had that other Kevin Kelly who commentated.

I'm enjoying these interviews with Barry! It's interesting hearing his perspective on every question you ask him.
Been watching all the Barry interviews over the past few weeks. Wow. This guy is impressive. Kind of took me by surprise since I’ve seen him in many matches but don’t recall ever hearing him talk since he was mostly jobbing. Should have been pushed more and been doing these shoot interviews a long time ago.
John Nord's "muffler" story is hysterical.
I had never heard of the small diaper story until John talked about it.

Damn i want to see barry horowitz matches again havent seen them since childhood but loved watching him in the ring... him yelling " I GOT HIM!" holding his opponent in a head lock then getting slammed .. cracked me up so much
Barry is surprisingly one of the bast shoot interviews to be done in a long time.
Barry is the best. Love his honesty and fact he doesn't really have an agenda. He's just a cool dude who tells good, honest stories.
Barry seems pretty cool, even though I've never heard of him. But I get the impression at the end of his sessions when James says, "great job, now let's figure out the best way to settle up." Barry would probably reply with "Awesome, sounds good! How much do I owe you?"

Growning up in Tampa I saw plenty of Barry as a kid. I was also at that even shawn michaels broke that poor guys neck.
Just watched a match between Barry and the dingo warrior. This was right beforehe became the U. Warrior. Anyway Barry made that match. He gave so much to the dingo warrior that i hope Jim thanked Barry in the back.

How many people actually read the dirt sheets? The Wrestling Observer was likely the most popular, but how many readers did they have in the 1980s and 1990s? Perhaps under 10,000, and those people likely also subscribed to Matwatch, and the Pro Wrestling Torch. Their influence didn't include the mainstream wrestling fan. What ruined the kayfabe was the 20/20 expose, along with Vince MacMahon announcing to the public that pro wrestling was just entertainment and not a sport so the WWF could get out of the auspicious of the various state athletic commissions who required them to pay fees for all of their shows.
