Like Barry said. He could never of played evil Doink. Was to kind hearted. I believe that. With all the charities and such. I absolutely respect that to the upmost. Matt Borne had his demons before he played Doink but he made that his own and should be recognized as the one and only. He was an amazing talent aside from his demons. No doubt.
I had no idea that the repo man was his idea. I always thought it was a Vince thing that Barry got stuck with. Also, they absolutely hit the nail on the head with Matt Borne as Doink. Nobody has ever done Doink anywhere near as good as Borne did and nobody ever will.
What you are missing is Doink died out because of Matt Borne's drug problem. Darsow as Repo if you really look at it was Doink. If he would have played Doink he probably lasted longer. So Borne was not totally perfect.
That’s how I figured out wrestling was “fake”. I was watching a match with my dad and he had the same style as Smash and I said dad he kinda of reminds me of Smash and then I noticed the tattoo and I said he’s Smash. Then my dad had the “talk” with me lol. Think I was 9 years old
One of the things I like most about his style is that he asks a question and then lets the guest talk and answer the question. Some other hosts like the sound of their own voice too much and keep cutting off the guests to insert their own opinion too frequently.
This is a great interview. Repo-man was a mid card wrestler, but what a fantastic character. I love his slogan “what’s mine is mine, and what’s yours…… that’s mine too!”
This channel is on fire! Thanks to James and ACW for a great working relationship and feeding you legends. Wish we could hear how works and how it all came about.
It's still real to Tully, all due respect he's always going to seem like being the offiice, being 2nd generation, obviously some people will keep the kayfabe fabing.
Loved that character. Always thought it was funny. As a kid being a fan and not knowing everything involved in wrestling, I would buy and read all the wrestling mags at the supermarket. Looking through one that gave away all the wrestlers real names in 93', it said "Hey, this guy used to be Smash!" I was mind blown it was the same guy, had no idea.
The Repo man is my first notion on how a lot of wrestlers portray in different gimmicks and that it was my first clue how it was all at work. But I still enjoyed
Barry is a great guy…Demolition should be in every possible wrestling HOF! No doubt! That said, I can’t see the Repo Man character showing up at celebrity golf tournaments lol
I do have to say I can see why some never made the Repo Man-Smash connection. I mean he dropped a lot of bulk, cut the hair, grew a goatee, work a lone ranger mask. So at first I didn't pick up on it but after a few weeks of hearing his promos I started saying "Gee, this guy sounds a lot like Smash" (despite RM promos being more manic and high pitched than Smash's) and thats when I made the connection.
It was always obvious from his very obvious tattoo. Granted, as Smash he tried to cover it up with the Elbow Pad on the arm, but a ot of times it would slip, revealing the tattoo. Hence why WWF fans back then even made the connection that he was Krusher Krushev and harrassed him when he was a heel. Later as Repo Man he didn't cover it up anymore and it was just obvious who it was.
lol, I knew the second I saw him as Repo Man that he was Smash! On the back of one of my old video’s, it actually says ‘both former members of Demolition face each other, Crush vs Repo man!’ 😂
Yeah seeing Barry always takes me back to memories of being a youngster. Rude and Hennig as well. To bad them guys never got to do a new version of the Minnesota wrecking crew
I was born in '94. I saw tons of Repo Man matches on Peacock. The Repo Man was a loveable Bad Guy. Just a ridiculously silly villain. Great Wrestler. The Randy Savage match on WWE Raw after Royal rumble '93 was a fantastic match worth watching. 😀
Loved Repo Man! When he smashed that car window with his foot, I laughed my ass off! And remember, what's mine is mine, what's yours is mine too, ha ha!!
He did a fantastic job getting in shape for that role. He was a lot leaner and reinvented himself which I’m sure was extremely hard to do. I thought he pulled it off well
I still remember it was one of those double screen interviews during a match when Repo said something Smash would say and it dawn on me that was Smash of Demolition lol 1-15-24
Re re repo man. Light hearted fun gimmick. The vignettes were fun. Barry one of my childhood hero’s so as soon as I spotted his tattoo I knew it was him.
I'm glad that Darsow sees himself as a character wrestling, like a character actor, because that's what he was. Ax carried Demolition but Smash's heavy metal voice sold the gimmick. It absolutely wasn't an LOD clone. And Repo Man was perfect for the 1991 recession: "If you go bankrupt, I'm going to repossess your little boy's tricycle!!!!" Totally amusing. IRS was a good foil in that same period where he's calling the average rube a tax cheat. Creative brilliance
I remember the Repo Man and I noticed the eagle tattoo on his upper arm and I said out loud watching, that's Demolition Smash, and others are like no he's too small. But I was stubborn and refused to deny it because that tattoo was a dead giveaway.
The "repo-cam" vignette was pretty funny, a bit like IRS's vignettes. He actually kicks in the window of a car at one point. My favorite Repo-man match was from a Colliseum Video tape, maybe an exclusive, a match against Bret, Barry was wrestling a Bret style technical match and Bret won by reversing his inside-cradle.
I had never heard of Barry being offerred the Doink gimmick. After how he played the Repoman, I can totally see Barry being able to pull off Doink. Plus as reliable as he was, Doink would have had a longer run.
I remember when he came back as the Repo Man. I recognized him immediately. Honestly it kinda made me sad because I knew then that Demolition was completely dead.
During this interview, he said a few times how much he wanted to be a babyface. What is sad is, after the Repo Man, he only had heel gimmicks in WCW (Black Top Bully, Pain Stewart). Maybe when he was wrestling as Barry Darsow he was neutral. But never a babyface.
Sorry Barry but I knew it was you the second I saw The Repo Man. On the other hand I have to sat that Demolition Ax & Smash are my all time favorite tag team!

Barry is such a laidback kindhearted guy, he makes it impossible not too like him..
Right? Dude seems like a class act.
So is Bill Eadie.
@@0tt0zyup, two very classy and likeable legends
Couldn’t be two guys more opposite their onscreen character

I absolutely loved the Repo Man character! So funny
Yes it's underrated
Loved the character he played it prefect
He did some Work for the million dollar man!
No matter what you thought about the gimmick, you can't deny that his theme tune was a banger.
One of the first theme music cassette tapes I got with joining the WWF Fan Club had his on it.
I am jealous from the 80s 😊
Re Re Repo Man 😂
When you hear the glass it means your ass
@@marcludwick512those tapes were all we had for themes back then. I remember Undertaker and Papa Shango's theme being on the same one one year
I had no idea that the repo man was his idea. I always thought it was a Vince thing that Barry got stuck with. Also, they absolutely hit the nail on the head with Matt Borne as Doink. Nobody has ever done Doink anywhere near as good as Borne did and nobody ever will.
It’s a damn shame Matt isn’t in the HOF as Doink and same goes for Barry with Demolition and Repo Man.
What you are missing is Doink died out because of Matt Borne's drug problem. Darsow as Repo if you really look at it was Doink. If he would have played Doink he probably lasted longer. So Borne was not totally perfect.
It's a very funny gimmick, but terrible step down from Smash.
Repoman always reminded me of McDonald's Hamburgler from the early 80s.
This. 😂
Yeah. 1992 was a down-year for the WWF, and the over-the-top goofy gimmicks didn’t help.
The tattoo on his arm is what gave it away for me that he was the old smash from demolition.
That’s how I figured out wrestling was “fake”. I was watching a match with my dad and he had the same style as Smash and I said dad he kinda of reminds me of Smash and then I noticed the tattoo and I said he’s Smash. Then my dad had the “talk” with me lol. Think I was 9 years old
Far and away the best shoot channel on UA-cam.
James’ interviewing style is really good.
One of the things I like most about his style is that he asks a question and then lets the guest talk and answer the question. Some other hosts like the sound of their own voice too much and keep cutting off the guests to insert their own opinion too frequently.

What is Appalachian Championship Wrestling? There seems to be a lot of legends involved in it .
Yeah, minus the standoffish Tully Blanchard, all the guest have been awesome and fun with their interviews.
@@DanlowMusic that’s just how Blanchard is is
@@robintaylor485 maybe, but it made for a boring interview. He also seemed like he didn't want to speak freely.

What's mine is mine! And what's yours is mine too!! Love Barry.
Always love the Repo Man theme song, especially the keytar solo at the one minute mark and at the end with the Re-re-re-re-Repo Man.

I was completely fooled. Had no clue he was The Repo Man
Repo man theme is like drinking a yummy glass of the late 80s early 90s
These interviews are great!
The Repo man is my first notion on how a lot of wrestlers portray in different gimmicks and that it was my first clue how it was all at work. But I still enjoyed
Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that the Repo-Man idea was actually the wrestlers idea.
Barry is a great guy…Demolition should be in every possible wrestling HOF! No doubt! That said, I can’t see the Repo Man character showing up at celebrity golf tournaments lol
I can….. he could try and Repo Bob Barker’s Golf cart and get karate ass kicked ….
Saw Repo Man on Family Feud back in the early 90s. It was a little peek into how a babyface Repo would've looked. He was fun on the show.

Tattoo was a dead giveaway
@@omarluciano8687 The mask as well didn't hide that face very well, his huge bald spot was another giveaway.
I loved all the mid carders, especially Skinner. 👍🏻
lol, I knew the second I saw him as Repo Man that he was Smash! On the back of one of my old video’s, it actually says ‘both former members of Demolition face each other, Crush vs Repo man!’ 😂
He looked the hamburgler lol.
Loved his slogan: What’s mine is mine, and what’s yours is mine, too.
I could tell Barry was the Repo Man right away by the arm tattoo.
"Whats mine is mine and whats yours is mine too".
Loved the repo man
Made me think of the Hamburgerler from McDonald's
The Repo Man was very underrated. He was hilarious!
I got the same eagle tattoo as BD as a nod to my childhood, and Rude's anchor on my other arm, both make me smile of simple times.
Yeah seeing Barry always takes me back to memories of being a youngster. Rude and Hennig as well. To bad them guys never got to do a new version of the Minnesota wrecking crew
Barry Darsow is awesome! love his interviews. Repo man was hilarious!
Simon Miller somewhere giving this a golden up
It's funny that both Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow had such menacing vibes but speak super softly.
This man is a great performer and person 😊
At the time, I had no idea he was The Repo Man. Good on Barry!! And that was a fun and enjoyable character to watch .
I liked the character he actually looked similar to a good friend of my dads especially his laugh always got a kick out of that.
I totally recognised him strsight away, tattoo was the biggest give away, i did love demolition though, smash was the best hasbro! Ive got it tattooed
I recognized him already. I was on board for it. Those gimmicks brought the best out of Bobby "The Brain" Heenan.
Barry is awesome
Missed opportunity on a feud with the bossman and repo man. Never knew he was smash until I got older. I loved demolition
Barry is on great! One of my favs 🤘🏼
Loved the repo man vignettes

you missed the best era late 80s
I’m a late 90s kid so I don’t really know any of Barrys work. But damn his shoots are always good and wholesome haha
"what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine too" ~Repo man

Everyone appreciates Repo Man. Such luster for mischief
Loving these clips.
Repoman was awesome! always made me laugh as a kid and still today. LOL Only Barry could put it off. Thank you Barry.
"Repo Man"😉
I saw the clip when Repo Man repossessed a tricycle. It was completely hilarious.
I still remember it was one of those double screen interviews during a match when Repo said something Smash would say and it dawn on me that was Smash of Demolition lol

Re re repo man. Light hearted fun gimmick. The vignettes were fun. Barry one of my childhood hero’s so as soon as I spotted his tattoo I knew it was him.
I will never forget Summerslam 1992 in Wembley Stadium when
“Demolition Explode”
People will always know it’s Barry because of his eagle 🦅 tattoo.
I always knew the Repo Man was Smash. The tattoo on his left arm gave it away! 🤣
I'm glad that Darsow sees himself as a character wrestling, like a character actor, because that's what he was. Ax carried Demolition but Smash's heavy metal voice sold the gimmick. He showed the same tattoo that's how i recognized he used to be Smash as a kid.
I think the alternative look at the end was a message to Vince. Probably what he envisioned as a babyface repo-man.
With today's economy, the Repo Man would have been a very popular heel
I had never heard of Barry being offerred the Doink gimmick. After how he played the Repoman, I can totally see Barry being able to pull off Doink. Plus as reliable as he was, Doink would have had a longer run.
Good performances
Repo man 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I recognized Barry right away as Repo Man.
Everyone knew he was Repo. At least those of us not easily fooled knew.
Oh man im laughing just thinking of Repo Man doing make a wish 😂😂
I only realised who Repo Man was when he shouted at the camera “You’d better pay your stinkin bills!” Then the penny dropped!
You KNOW Simon Miller's watching 😆👍
Simon Miller should be doing this interview 😂😂
Barry is cool, i could listen to him all day
Demolition 4 Life
He did a great job with every gimmick he was given
Wow, I didn't know Barry was the Repo Man lol
I loved Repo as a kid, and how he would string his opponents up. I thought that was too cool.
Repo Man as a Make-a-Wish request would be AWESOME!
Darsow should have entered celebrity golf tournaments as "Mr. Hole In One" Barry Darsow"
Repo man should have been Joe Pecsi's part in Home Alone
I remember when he came back as the Repo Man. I recognized him immediately. Honestly it kinda made me sad because I knew then that Demolition was completely dead.
A lot of those “job based” gimmicks were based on talent’s “side” jobs. Steve Keirn (Skinner) was an alligator hunter in real life for instance
Repo man he played it so solid
I loved the Repo Man
This guy powerbombed me onto a trampoline when i was a kid. So awesome.
Yep. You can’t believe too many of these stories. It’s always he said, he said.
I actually liked the Golf Character He was. I wish He had a longer run with that.👍🏾
Sorry Barry but I knew it was you the second I saw The Repo Man. On the other hand I have to sat that Demolition Ax & Smash are my all time favorite tag team!
"I don't want to be a heel anymore". goes to WCW to be the Blacktop Bully lmao
I’m just hearing Ernie Ladd shouting ‘Fat Darsow, you’re stealing from Mid-South every time you cash a check’ 😂😂😂 It’s Jim Cornette’s fault 😅😅
I loved Repo Man!!!
I loved the repo man
Guy is a legend 😊😊 "😯😮😲😧"
Is there a link to watch the entire interview in one video?
His arm tattoo gave away who the repo man was.
Our locals thieves were called....Repo Man!
funny, when i first saw Doink the Clown, I thought that he is Barry Darsow 😅
Repo man was a weird character but amazing talent
Every time the Repo Man is mentioned, Simon Miller gets warm and fuzzy feelings in his tumtum.
I should’ve scrolled down, I said the same thing 🤣
They say great minds think alike... they also say idiots seldom differ 😂
I don't care what anyone says. Repo Man was great. Funny gimmick awesome theme music.
