A friend of mine went to school with Ismo Leikola - he recalls how someone pointed out to Ismo that he is a natural comedian, making people laugh without even trying to be funny. This was in his teenage years... so yes, a natural comedian sounds about right.
Yeah that is typical to us finnish people, we aren't used to talking so it is partly serious, partly act...and probably also he is always a bit nervous telling jokes in foreign language
i don't understand why people are saying his material isn't funny - i thought this material was hilarious (how the "walk signal" is white instead of green), it's a unique bit. of course, his delivery is phenomenal.
My Finnish wife almost has a meltdown when we or anyone jay walks. After visiting in Helsinki and Oulu it caught me off-guard the first time how people waited to cross an empty street until the walk sign said you could.
Ismo is hilarious! As someone who is part of a multicultural family, I understand how things get lost in translation, sometimes with hilarious results. I can't stand on it!
That is just being a finnish person. We have this proverb that says: "Talk little, but talk spot on facts" and also "talk is silver, silnce is golden" so we are not used to talking much...in any language...
Even if Ismo's back story was that he was born in America and has known all of this stuff his entire life, this would still be hilarious. His delivery is just that good
Many genuine Finnish names sound so unusual. My mother is Terttu. Always assumed to be a man here in the States. Many Finnish names are sort of generically European sounding. An old man’s name never heard elsewhere is Väinö. My son is called Aarre (which means treasure)
love this guy. would like to see his finnish stand up, subtitled of course, but i guess it is filled with local culture references i can hardly understand
His Finnish stand up is alright, but it would be difficult to translate so the jokes work. He has some funny musical bits too. He became well known in Finland for a parody song about how shit trains are. He seems to really like jokes about transportation...
I hope he uses the 'ecological warfare' to english. For example an english company is producing tanks with a hybrid engines and less smoking grenades. Next will probably come nuclear weapons with a catalysator. It destroys the city, but the particulate matter emissions are way smaller. And soon you can ask enemies if they have any restrictions, because there is a non-gluten mustard gas if needed etc... It's funny as hell. :D
I visited California and was dodging going across normal access roads. Little old lady walking calmly across the 4 lane boulevard, not giving a shit. Then again, maybe it's bc she's old and doesn't care anymore? Idk.
His delivery is spot-on. His content is like common sense, and is pretty average in normal conversation, but he's funny to listen to. I found this out when I was trying to re-tell his joke--it wasn't funny. I can't even refer someone to his video after telling the joke. You basically have to watch him without any spoilers.
If an American were to tell this joke it probably wouldn't have the same effect. I think this guys awesome and I think his jokes work because he's not from the states and says things most American's think but don't say
Oh my...that's so true...when I came to USA for the first time, I was really confused whether I should cross the road or not when the pedestrian sign was a white guy walking!!!!!!!!!
I don't mind driving in LA but it's the parking that really annoys me. There are almost no free parking. You have to consider a parking budget on top of your monthly fees...
Why are the comments turned off on the paid for specials? The Raj Sharma live in Las Vegas has the same audience as the Tim Gaither special for about 5 seconds, when the camera changes, everyone is different.
That's the power of a natural comedian. He doesn't even need outrageous material to do well, he is just naturally comical!
Nor does he need bad language? Hÿvaa Ismo!
i hate roast..it´s like kids humor and very pathetic.
It's also partly the power of being foreign and having an accent. You get away with certain things a local can't.
A friend of mine went to school with Ismo Leikola - he recalls how someone pointed out to Ismo that he is a natural comedian, making people laugh without even trying to be funny. This was in his teenage years... so yes, a natural comedian sounds about right.
Agreeeeeeeeeeeee
Three days ago I hadn't even heard of Ismo. Now he's one of my favs. Funny shit man.
4 yrs after your comment and I'm having the same experience.
@@Tht1Gy Another two years later and it happened to me. Thanks UA-cam algorithm, that I've been watching Ismo for hours now!
His timid nervous disposition does wonders to even an ordinary everyday affair!! Love this fellow!!!
Yeah that is typical to us finnish people, we aren't used to talking so it is partly serious, partly act...and probably also he is always a bit nervous telling jokes in foreign language
Ismo is real gifted person. He was study physics in university, he singing and play guitar and made stand up of course.
Real "multi-talent" -person.
Lumperi65 I knew that Ismo was schooled in physics, which is testament to “it takes a smart person to act goofy”.
@@wfdix1 So True and stupid persons don't make this world go around.
A lot of comedians are actually pretty intelligent people.
@@shawnkay5462 True, most of the truly gifted ones at least.
Is his physics funny, too?
The intentional awkwardness in his delivery is perfect.
Well that is partly real also as we finns tend to be quite reserved people, but of course it is also part of the act
He has impeccable timing along with strange sounds that are often high pitched and original. Quite unique 👌
I just love the way this guy speaks.
He is so refreshingly funny and delightful.
A naturally comical person, I don't see people like this too often.
This amazingly well-calculated and perfectly executed goofiness reminds me of the comic genius of Buster Keaton.
Also looks a bit like Benny Hill
Wow, this dude
Love this guy. Laughter is the best medicine.
First time this channel has made me actually laugh out loud in some time.
Unique form of delivery. Brilliant.
Conan introduced me to this guy, he's hilarious!
the "there are starving kids in Africa" sketch still makes me laugh haha
me too: "I did this for you"😂😂
@@mrsTraveller64 yes exatcly the "i did this for you" 😅
Im glad people dont get offended by that joke. Its humour only, although the topic is serious. Its a really funny joke, I agree :)
Just discovered this guy recently. He's really good!
i don't understand why people are saying his material isn't funny - i thought this material was hilarious (how the "walk signal" is white instead of green), it's a unique bit. of course, his delivery is phenomenal.
I don't understand who the hell is saying his material isn't funny??
My Finnish wife almost has a meltdown when we or anyone jay walks. After visiting in Helsinki and Oulu it caught me off-guard the first time how people waited to cross an empty street until the walk sign said you could.
Break down the jaywalkers by ethnicity and its difficult not to form stereotypes.
same in Germany
@@mkfaruki I'm curious; which ethnicity? Don't worry, I'm not gonna flip. I'm just plain curious.
@@mkfaruki I'm curious as well.
colossus715 I'd almost put money on "European Americans". Lol
Love this guy he is the best comedian ever like eveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!!!
He is so great! The way he delivers, wow! And the material is great!
This guy always makes me cry with laughter.
I love this dude hahaha
This is one of those guys I keep my eyes open for to catch his new material...he is so charming
kadmonzohar2 thirst is real for u girl
You are genius, i love you, greeting from Iran
the man is a physicist and professional comedian, that’s brain+heart ❤️❤️
He is so geniune, he makes me smile just by watching him :D
Ismo is hilarious! As someone who is part of a multicultural family, I understand how things get lost in translation, sometimes with hilarious results. I can't stand on it!
omg brilliant delivery
"Timing" in comedy is a rare thing and Ismo has it perfect!!
I'd like to dedicate this joke to the four drivers who taught me how many flips I could do before hitting concrete.
Shit, that's rough!
Now I'm always going to think of ISMO at a traffic crosswalk lol
He says so little and yet he's one the most hilarious. Insane
That is just being a finnish person. We have this proverb that says: "Talk little, but talk spot on facts" and also "talk is silver, silnce is golden" so we are not used to talking much...in any language...
This dude is pushing to soon become a comedian everyone knows. Good for him. He also has very tasteful humor so far.
He used to be known as “the assman from Conan show”. It was long time ago. Now he is forgotten again. I cannot even find any new material from him.
this dude is freaking hilarious !!!
Ismo is hilarious!
Ismo is brilliant. He is so clever and witty,
kiva nähdä että jenkit diggaa ismoo :)
Ismo on globaali koomikko. Tuon tyylinen ulostuonti naurattaa antarktilta pohjoisnavalle asti 😁👍
Even if Ismo's back story was that he was born in America and has known all of this stuff his entire life, this would still be hilarious. His delivery is just that good
Great ! greetings from Italy !
Love this guy!
Impeccable comic timing
He is unique, love him
Wonderful comedy !
omg that sums up our situation so well. LMAO
omfg how have i nevr seen this comedian B4.....wow he is good
He should start a delivery company (Ismo - delivery is everything).
or, just.. is mo' .. (contraction for "more", minimalism seems important in modern branding)
memorable guy & memorable name...... "Ismo".
Many genuine Finnish names sound so unusual. My mother is Terttu. Always assumed to be a man here in the States. Many Finnish names are sort of generically European sounding. An old man’s name never heard elsewhere is Väinö. My son is called Aarre (which means treasure)
"You can go but we don't recommend it" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The last line😂
He's funny. And with his accent it's even better
Top class
Dude perfect, i'd say 😁😎 greets from austria, ismo is at the right place! 👍
0:21 - 0:29 every politician ever

So friggin' funny!!!
So true 😂
Ismo is such a genius XD
I refer you to the 80s song on the subject of walking in LA. Lol
Their are just some people that make you laugh, as soon as you see them.
I visited California and was dodging going across normal access roads. Little old lady walking calmly across the 4 lane boulevard, not giving a shit. Then again, maybe it's bc she's old and doesn't care anymore? Idk.
He's like a Finnish version of Mitch Hedberg! I like!
Effortlessly takes apart LA car culture in 2 minutes without offending anyone! Should be a politician!
That is absolutely true. good observation. why not green man?
Red= all stop
Yellow= caution
Green= proceed
White= hurry up
Doung comedy in a foreign language. Kudos.
"You can go but we don't recommend it"
Somebody might be taking a right :)
This is his 3rd video, and I still feel the same way: His material isn't THAT funny, but goddamn he's so charming I can't help but smile :)
I agree, his material isn't really funny, but It is HOW he delivers the material that make HIS comedy funny.
For me most of his stuff is funny or very funny but his style and delivery makes even not so funny jokes entertaining.
He's funnier in the Finnish language! Wish his Finnish ones had subtitles so everyone could enjoy them!
If an American were to tell this joke it probably wouldn't have the same effect. I think this guys awesome and I think his jokes work because he's not from the states and says things most American's think but don't say
Bet he's looking for that, recognises it's his part in the mess :)
Hyvä Ismo🧠🙂🇫🇮 olet jaksanut painaa hommia siistiä!
Theres a bit of mr. Bean in him I'd say👍
Great views of things in life/cultures.
Good.
He's right. The traffic *IS* big.
Woody Allen made this point years ago about LA "...where the only cultural advantage is you can make a right turn on a red light..."
Dude is dope.
lmao ! funny guy
Oh my...that's so true...when I came to USA for the first time, I was really confused whether I should cross the road or not when the pedestrian sign was a white guy walking!!!!!!!!!
Genius
you listen, don't want to laugh, but you laugh...
Ismo perkele 😂👍
This guy is fucking funny as hell lol ahhh gd...
good guy
This guy is the shit
Was a little bumpy at the start but had me laughing at the end! Really funny dude.
His set on Conan is classic.
haha, this was fucking hilarious!
Right on the red light, dam illegal here in Auzz.

ISMO - 😀😃😀👋
On right turns, red means "fine". On left turns, green means "maybe".

How any one can make eeeeeh in to a joke? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My friend introduced me to his UA-cam channel and now it's lit 👀💪

You can take a ride but you can't jaywalk... I guess that's just a part of the illustrious American dream.
😂🤣

Ismo is like a bit drunk, afterall he's Finnish.
