  • In today's video I explain why I am overlanding, what it means to me, and how I think you can get started if you want to get into it. It's a very rewarding lifestyle, but it's not easy, so I hope this video helps make it a little easier.

    My explanation of what Overlanding is: Similar to backpacking, I drive instead of walking, and the vehicle is the backpack, which allows me to cover more area and carry more creature comfort amenities. Thanks for sharing.

    I agree with your core definition of overlanding... and your point that beyond that overlanding is a personal building on that core. I believe the journey is the reward in all cases. And the rig, the equipment, the places and the objectives need to be tailored to our unique journeys... glad I stumbled onto your channel...

    Lots of good advice, including basic safety. Also, some bonus insight to your background and what motivates you.
    A very enjoyable video!
    Yes folks, basic safety can make a huge difference to your experience! Staying alive, for example. 😆

    Awesome! I was a Sea Cadet for a short spell in high school. I was also a Seabee, stationed at Port Hueneme 😎

    German Shepherds are highly intelligent as you know. I had one in the Army. You can teach them to be quiet at times with hand signals and command. You can teach them to be loud. I taught mine in the military to get to a certain point and bark that deverted attention. We were able to flank and capture enemy. You can teach them to hear and patrol. You need to teach them, dogs love to have themselves challenged. He passed years ago, after I got out of the Army. Enjoy those 2.

      If I ever get another dog, it'll likely be another Shepherd and I definitely plan on more specialized training. They're so smart and they need to be busy for sure. I love that yall were able to train yours. I'm so sorry for your loss. Idk if I'll be able to go through it again (and I know I have to 2 more times. 😞). They're my world.

    I'm on the LOT Facebook group. I noticed your jacket patch. Great post about safety. I have one dog that will bite, and the other one is too friendly.

    Right now I have a 16 week old puppy and a 10 year old "puppy".... still waiting to bring the young one out, but the older one does not care for the cold. One day I will get the both out.

    I'm working towards full time overlanding. My biggest issue is money. How do maintain income. How do I acquire sponsorship.

    • @NatMoran
      @NatMoran  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes! Go for it!!! I have linked my email to my page, and sponsors reach out to me asking if I'd be interested in collaborations. It took a while before I started receiving products related to my content. I don't personally reach out to people, but friend's of mine will reach out to companies they want to do reviews on, and sometimes they take them up. I hope that helps!

    How do you get around the mailing address on your driver's license?

    • @NatMoran
      @NatMoran  6 місяців тому

      I use americas mailbox, and they offer a personal mailbox number that's not considered a PO box to most companies. South Dakota recognized my address as a nomad address, and they had no issues. I just had to sign a form that said I was a nomad.
