So good man. It never ceases to amaze me how people can bring so much negativity towards others they share a common interest with. Thanks for making these videos

EXACTLY! Not to mention about 90% or more of those Debbie Downers have no content of their own, which leads me to believe they never actually DO anything except bash others.

I thought I was overlanding sitting here at home watching Revere Overland.. I have to say in some of those recovery scenes, I was sweating I was so nervous.

Luke with TOGR says that overlanding is vehicle reliant travel that doesn’t involve staying at a campground. It has nothing to do with 4wd or going to extremes and I have to agree.

    • @RevereOverland

I'd have to agree with that. I usually end up at a campground or two along the way for laundry though!

Hilarious, the bumper scrap, lawnmower scene and mic drop were awesome. Great presentation skills.
I’ll admit, “Overland” is probably not what Freys On The Side due, BUT the buzz word is what got us back outdoors and experiencing nature together as a family.
“Overland” makes my google searches more fun than “camping”.

I’ve been binging a number of overlanding videos lately and I think you’re doing a great job. The scenery in the American west is very powerful visually and many of your peers make the mistake of putting too much of themselves in the videos. It’s a tough balance to get right. Thank you.

100% true hope whoever searches overlanding find this video. We are brand new to overlanding and we try not to compare ourselves to experienced overlanders(that can be dangerous). To us, overlanding is about the journey and comfortability , over time we can always up the difficulty of our trips. 😄

Well said. I watch a lot of old westerns when I'm not "Overlanding". I guess I'm "Overcouching", but the Wells Fargo Overland Stage Coach is exciting because it offered a way to see the new country and travel in ways not available to most. I think that same excitement comes to many who see this as a "New" get-away term. The term has created a large following and a lot of new business opportunities. I believe the term will continue to evolve and produce a large community of followers. The adventure and excitement of exploring and seeing new places is part of our nature. The term isn't One size Fits All, but for me it's fun to see the new products and innovations coming from the Lifestyle. I enjoy your videos because I too love photography and video production. Yes, editing is time consuming, but looking at your productions makes it worth the effort for those that won't have the freedom and opportunity to do what we do. Keep up the great content!

You actually see way more just by backpacking and save thousands. You miss so much while in the vehicle. It really is just for people who do not have the energy to hike. The perfect phrase for overlanding "If it was easy everyone would do it" which is why you see so many people overlanding

  • @largelarry2126

Rob if you don't need to be somewhere it's impossible to get lost, only side tracked. We never go with or camp near other people so know one ever see's what we do or how long were gone, we always called it vacationing but were older and out of the loop. I understand what you're saying about others telling you that they do it better than you and just like running there mouth. We were out one time and ran into some other people and before long they were telling us what and how to do things. I ask them how long they had been out this time and how long were planning on staying. LOL they told me that they had to be back by Monday to go to work. Then they ask us, I told them that we move to a new site every morning and will head home if winter starts to set in, they all looked a bit freaked out being that it was June. Weather you are forced to walk or drive a fancy RV if you're having fun you win.

Totally agree. It's so funny to see folks trying so hard to define an activity and if others differ from that which they think it means, they go on the attack mode. Now, on another note, the mic drop is totally warranted but, perhaps, with a more substantial mic... The little dink on the table lacked the oomph the video required. IMO. :)

I love your videos but you are miss using the term, overlanding. Perpetuating an American slang! What you do is "touring" . Overlanders are world travellers. Overlanding happens outside your home country. When you do it inside your country you are touring or nomading. Not overlanding.
This confusion has been caused by Overland Expo's, which were originally supposed to be designated times and locations for world travellers to gather. A coming together of like minds. They have turned into trade shows where companies hawk the most expensive camping equipment by tagging the term overland to it. But like buying Marathon Sneakers, it doesn't make you an Olympic Marathon Gold Medalist.

@@RevereOverland well I believe it does! Overlanding used to be an inspirational term, and so far still is everywhere else on earth outside the US. A bucket list type, rare accomplishment. Since then in the US it has turned to a patented and trademarked marketing term, which has become laughable by some. It lumps in tail gating, rural drunks, and roof top bootie calls. A catch all word that includes the very best all the way down to the very worst. As long as you have some fancy orange camping and off road equipment you can be in the American Overlanders club. It is motivating people with little respect, to go act the way they act in the woods or on the trails in the name of overlanding. This evolving "American only" definition is a slippery slope as it is stressing the system in the US, and in the end, "overlanders" will get the blame. We don't want to see trail closures, stricter regulations, but most of all we do not want an anti overlanding law that strictly prohibits this type of travel. Most of all we don't want this blamed on the enlightened, world explorers from whom it draws so much inspiration.
Also if every kid, with an RTT who goes to the woods to make trouble is an overlander, what is the new word we use to describe those intrepid, knowledgeable and honorable world travellers?
