8:32 The Death Note maintains the appearance of a notebook with 60 pages and 38 lines per page, the front and back of a page are counted as the same page. But in rule XXXI, it is stated, "The number of pages of the Death Note will never run out." For all practical purposes, it has infinite pages.
I always wondered how that rule works. Are more pages appearing when you are close to the end? Does a new page appear when you fill one? Do pages disappear and reappear as you go through them to maintain the illusion that the notebook has the same thickness always? Also, the black pages with the rules written by the shinigami, did they appear when they were needed, or they were always there for whatever purpose.
It was a big point in an early episode that Light built a self-destructing drawer for the death note, which will burn it. That was actually the first time Light was shown to be intelligent, but he never engineers something again.
@@jessetheanimenerd3304 - No, he just happened to have a watch with a secret compartment (it's not that rare.) Not sure which cell phone sharing system you're referring to though.
6:14 The reason why they will never kill Light and Mikami is because doing so would be post facto justification. Executing the suspect before confirming that he is Kira and hoping that the Kira murders will stop would not be "legal".
The way Near was able to deduce Mikami as the X kira in the manga is that Mikami mentioned about wanting to hear Kira's thoughts and his words and then talked about how the fact they aren't getting "orders" from kira could be because Kira wants them to make their own decisions.Mikami said this in a television show on Sakura TV and so Near realized that this wax Mikami's message to L-kira.
They BUTCHERED the scene where Near discovered Mikami. Of all the cut content in the anime, this is by far the most egregious. It's still a bit wild how Near zeroes in on Mikami, but it's believable for a few reasons. 1. Near didn't just so happen to see Mikami on screen the second he decided to find X-Kira. Instead, he spent hours combing over footage to find someone who Kira was likely to choose. 2. Near recognized Mikami's coded public message to Kira and how the timing aligned with Light being investigated by the Task Force and Misa losing her notebook. 3. Near started with the most recent programs that Takada had been on, working backwards because he knew that Kira was more likely to choose someone on TV around the time of X-Kira's selection. 4. Near noticed that Mikami and Takada were on TV together more than once, giving them an opportunity to know each other. 5. Near realized that X-Kira had to be someone who both knew Takada was a Kira worshipper and could be chosen by Kira from afar. A person who appeared on Kira's Kingdom fit both of those criteria.
Based Near lover, i agree. also, yeah, they cut a lot of 2nd half of manga; the mikami thing is much less jarring. my thought is, considering the 2nd half had a lot of internal dialogue, that it didnt make for good animation so they shortcutted it
When you're done with Death Note, and if you want to continue with detective anime, please give Psycho Pass a shot. There were very few reactors who watched it but it's worth your attention. I promise it won't be a waste of your time.
I dont like the misa takada scene either. Also its a better scene in the manga. Also youre right a lot was cut from the manga to the anime for this last arc. Its very unfortunate
Besides the comedy, I don't think the issue with the Misa and Takada scene is that its unnecessary or boring in concept. I think it's that Misa's character was left by the wayside and Takada hasn't had enough development or screen time to really care. I could see an alternate version of the story where that's a really great scene. Sadly, as much as I love Death Note, I think the author is pretty terrible with female characters and often seems sexist.
The scene had multiple meanings and foreshadowed some events they may or may not happen. And as Near stated, he deduced that these 2 women are under Light's thumb, and will help complete the picture Near crafts about Kira. Not everything has to be sexist.
@japan100100 Well that's what I mean actually. I think this scene had stuff going for it and that it would have been pretty interesting if it weren't for the issues I mentioned. And I don't think this scene specifically is sexist at all. I just think the author has a particular way of writing his female characters that makes me feel like he is. In the manga it feels more pronounced. I recall some lines where both Light and Ryuk were looking down on Naomi's intelligence for being a woman. It's been a while since it read it though and might be misremembering. They changes that dialogue in the anime.
@treybug10000 Ryuk never did, but yeah, Light seems to view women differently. Especially his line in the manga about women being "so easy" and then being all the same. While I would say that Ohba's writing style is a bit sexist, I don't think a character being sexist means that the story in general is. Light is supposed to be a major douchebag who views people as tools. And his comment in the Yotsuba arc about never wanting to manipulate a woman's feelings seems to imply that yes, the writer does indeed find the idea to be immoral. It's sad that Halle Lidner, my favorite woman in the series, is so often overlooked. She has more scenes in the manga, but basically she was the only one who realized that it'd take both Near and Mello working together to take down Kira. That's why she helped both of them simultaneously.
@jessetheanimenerd3304 I misremembered what Ryuk said. He said that women always fall for the word "fate". I'm definitely not saying he's for sure sexist. I agree that too many people mistake a character's morals for their author's morals. But I also don't think him writing Light's "good persona", for lack of a better phrase for it, to dislike using women, necessarily means he isn't sexist either. It's more just that something about the way he writes most of his female characters feels off to me. I remember I was never sure if it was just my imagination or not until I watched Platinum End, which is another anime based on a series of his. That show made me feel like my suspicions were validated, but I also barely remember that show by now and don't even remember what it was that made me think that lol. I'm still reading the manga and have just barely not gotten to Lidner so I'm excited to see her character more.
@@treybug10000 I just think that Light shows an example of how a handsome and charismatic guy can manipulate people, especially women, to do his will. This happens all the time in real life, and I think it's a good way for "Kira" to get people under his control. It's honestly almost realistic. But to be honest, Light also convinced men to follow in his footsteps too. That's just my opinion on the matter.
Hi Malti, since you enjoy the psychological depth and moral complexity of Death Note, I highly recommend Code Geass. It offers a similarly engaging narrative with strategic battles and intriguing characters. Plus, the mecha elements add a unique twist. Give it a try.
Yeah, he would get really pissed at all the stupid fanservice/filler parts in a heartbeat. I myself, hated the filler parts a lot, and often wondered why they took it so far with how STUPID it was. If they deleted all the stupid festivals, etc from that show, it would've probably been more popular.
I did upvote you for the suggestion, but honestly, I have to agree with other commenters: I think he'd get irritated at all the filler and other stuff that just doesn't seem to fit the tone of the premise.
basically they cut near's deduction to find out about mikami,in the anime they just put it as "oooh, glowy eyes"

yea they cut almost all of near reasoning for that mikami scene
If we are talking about Near deduction about Mikami. Yep, they cut a some stuff from manga about Near deduction

Yeah and this was the time when mikami recruited takada .... isn't it??
lol he's not making an Eiffel Tower model, it's the Tokyo Tower.
That wasn't a coincidence. That was a "100% neuron activation" 😂
The anime near arc is super condensed compared to the manga, thus near's magical reasoning.
and why everyone hates the second half and near though I will say Near still has some really good guesses even in the manga

So much of Near's reasoning from the manga is cut out unfortunately.
