Awesome show guys! Up for a challenge? Because of the lubricating value of diesel fuel - take a diesel engine clean all the oil out of it replace the oil filter w/ a fuel filter hook up the suction side of the oil pump to the fuel tank hook up the suction side of the fuel pump to the bottom of the oil pan not sure how to maintain a constant level of fuel in the oil pan also not sure if the gaskets will hold up to the diesel fuel Advantage to this if it works (w/ longevity of the motor) would be you wouldn't have to change the oil Scott
I was in artillery in the Army, and I've thrown some tracks on M-109 howitzers plenty of times. Those tracks are in like 14" sections though. It was still a pain to replace those track sections, but I imagine it's a nightmare (and very expensive) to replace an entire single-band track just because one part of it is jacked up. Look into getting a sectional track!
This comment exactly. I was thinking the same thing (from experience) working on these types of systems I hope he has a good mechanic(s) and a lot of green backs usd to waste. SNAFU if I have ever seen one.
@@pouncepounce7417 You know, I was thinking about that too. Sectional tracks ARE a lot heavier since each section has a steel frame. It would slow it down considerably I imagine.
@@korndogz69 I think one could make an rubber track that is split into sections. What i would wonder if the price tag would make it worth it, producing an long rubber track compared to segments that need embedded bushings to connect them. I know mainly about bandvagons tracked they are compared much slower but with them no one bothered to make segmented tracks either, they have the same style and they are build in series and run in many militaries around the world.
@@pouncepounce7417 My thought process was you could keep a stack of sections on hand and replace them as needed as opposed to replacing an entire track just because one piece of it tore, or had a large chunk of it missing. Making sectional tracks out of rubber has the obvious problem of withstanding the expanding and contracting forces. That would be introducing weakness and many more points of failure into the track. The ends where the sections are bolted together is where the most likely points of failure would be. Maybe if the rubber is thick enough, it can handle it?
I was getting ready to leave a comment about seeing the UTE figured id look thru comments to see if anyone els mentioned it im stoked to see more about it Cleetus has wanted one since before his summer nats visit with 1320

@@chrisoconnor3119 it was originally pitched to the military as a small weapons type platform but they said we'll pass, but thank you, and now were here.
@@chrisoconnor3119 I feel really old now thinking back on that show, but the ripsaw itself is a neat thing with no real application right now for the most part. If it was armored up it would be to slow and lose that nimble handling it has. So that said it's not really a "tank" or anything like that. What it is however is a very capable all terrain vehicle that can only possible appeal to people with WAY to much money.
Quite the contrast to the mini-mini van. I like it, I like it alot 😁 Congratulations Cleet! Excited to see the challenges you'll come up with for this monster. Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark
We thought he was taking a break after sick week… nope… daily vids, still, unique content, still, new vehicle, still… This “flarda” man is a master of modern entertainment
He filmed ahead. This ripsaw was delivered before the race between george and cleetus on the february 3rd video, which means it was probably delivered in late January. I say this because they talk about the race coming up toward the beginning of this video plus the fact that the ripsaw is visible at the freedom factory in some of the other videos since then, it was just never acknowledged. I imagine the next video showing them using the ripsaw was filmed shortly thereafter, maybe a week and a half ago.
Before you start filling/changing hydraulic oil on this thing, check if theres any special requirements for the cleanliness grade of the oil. I can imagine this actually runs a pump so. In my experience a barrel of high quality oil usually has a lot more contaminants than you`d like there to be.
There's a rotary hydraulic coupling in there. One on each side as far as I can see. Sold a lot of them when I was in the Industrial Supply business. First time I've ever seen one in an Automotive application... ;)
Greatest thing is if you need any parts or something breaks you just go to the local Advanced Auto parts or bring it by your local GM/Chevy dealership 😂. since it’s basically an old Chevy Silverado under the hood. Who would have thought Suzuki and GM would make such a killer engine
Love the Ripsaw, love what you're doing with it, looking forward to some great videos. BUT! The Ripsaw is not a tank in any way shape or form. It is a tracked vehicle along the lines of an APC. Totally cool. I would be real cautious about driving that thing on asphalt when the weather gets warmer. Those tracks will tear the s… out of hot asphalt. Especially when making sharp turns. Would hate to see all your new asphalt outside the shop all torn up.
I like how a lot of people complain about how expensive these things are. ($425,000) But military tanks are much more expensive. (M1A1 Abrams, about $8,000,000) Military tanks may have no luxury at all, but the Ripsaw is basically a Pinto when looking at suspension and driving systems. replace the oil filter w/ a fuel filter
hook up the suction side of the oil pump to the fuel tank
hook up the suction side of the fuel pump to the bottom of the oil pan
not sure how to maintain a constant level of fuel in the oil pan
also not sure if the gaskets will hold up to the diesel fuel
Advantage to this if it works (w/ longevity of the motor) would be you wouldn't have to change the oil
Scott
You need 16 of these for your next race!!
This unit is 1 of 3 in the US. Only 15 built total. Also they are not cheap.
Dude! That things INSANE!!!! Great addition to the fleet. Very smart.
Love you guys. Never fail to amaze and entertain. Hell yeah brother!
Of course, it all makes sense. There is now a tank in the fleet. NOS, bigger turbskies, launch control... fastest ripsaw down the quarter mile anyone?
I was in artillery in the Army, and I've thrown some tracks on M-109 howitzers plenty of times. Those tracks are in like 14" sections though. It was still a pain to replace those track sections, but I imagine it's a nightmare (and very expensive) to replace an entire single-band track just because one part of it is jacked up. Look into getting a sectional track!
This comment exactly. I was thinking the same thing (from experience) working on these types of systems I hope he has a good mechanic(s) and a lot of green backs usd to waste. SNAFU if I have ever seen one.
at that speeds i doubt segmented tracks work very well, weight is an big issue...
Cleetus: I have to be financially responsible and sell some toys
Also cleetus: WE BOUGHT A RIPSAW
Out with the old, in with the new 😂
@@Person.555 I said the same thing 😂
thats why he was selling toys
Literally what like 2-3 months ago 😂
From the sound of it, it was too good to not buy
Who else seen the commodore Ute in the backround , it’s going to be a sick burnout car 🤙🏽💯🔥
I was getting ready to leave a comment about seeing the UTE figured id look thru comments to see if anyone els mentioned it im stoked to see more about it Cleetus has wanted one since before his summer nats visit with 1320
I’m more excited to see that lol
I wanted to post a comment about it too. Looks like the Toast's engine will find a new home sooner or later.
I saw it and got excited and I'm not even Australian.
Scrolled through the comments to see if anyone else noticed it. Not disappointed haha.
I love how inclusive Cleetus is with his crew , so awesome 👏🏼
I watched this thing being designed and tested by Howe and Howe tech back like.. 15 years ago or something like that... I never thought i'd see youtubers buying them and calling them tanks.
I remember watching those two brothers build the prototype as well... time flys.
Is it not a tank? Really cool TOY in my opinion
Tank treads, no cannon or armor, what it the purpose of this rig?
@@chrisoconnor3119 it was originally pitched to the military as a small weapons type platform but they said we'll pass, but thank you, and now were here.
@@johnrobinson1140 ahhh, thanks. Cool but I bet not cheap, looks fun.
Since we have seen this in the background,, and foreground this was filmed before Sick week.
Does it matter?
The pure, unfiltered JOY on Sam's face walking outside!
Very smart and capable crew with a great can-do attitude!
Cleetus: "We got a tank."
Everyone who's been in the Army: "Nope. That ain't a tank."
Probably what it feels like every time he calls something a truck
So proud of you! You just level up every time! Very smart with your finances. Keep it up making great content for years to come.
Before you start filling/changing hydraulic oil on this thing, check if theres any special requirements for the cleanliness grade of the oil. I can imagine this actually runs a pump so. In my experience a barrel of high quality oil usually has a lot more contaminants than you`d like there to be.
What hydraulic fluid?
everyone just smiles ripsaw is the dream unit i think for every boy or man
The next video better have George's reaction to seeing it. Thats gotta be pure gold
Im still dumbfounded how that brake system works. How do you hook lines to a spinning caliper?!? Amazing engineering
There's a rotary hydraulic coupling in there. One on each side as far as I can see. Sold a lot of them when I was in the Industrial Supply business. First time I've ever seen one in an Automotive application... ;)
I've only seen that on specialty farming equipment. Doesn't surprise me to see it adapted here.
As confounding as the inflate as you drive tires on vehicles like the HUMVEE and the trucks JH Who bought. 🤷♂️
Greatest thing is if you need any parts or something breaks you just go to the local Advanced Auto parts or bring it by your local GM/Chevy dealership 😂. since it’s basically an old Chevy Silverado under the hood. Who would have thought Suzuki and GM would make such a killer engine
Hydraulic durtydur
The second I saw Cleet driving somebody else's, I knew he'd get one for himself 😂
Same lol
Yep
Is this not the same one he was driveing or is this another one ? I thought heavy Ds ripsaw looked exactly like that
he bought the one he drove hahahah
Yea i just seen he said he bought it from heavy D lol
Love the Ripsaw, love what you're doing with it, looking forward to some great videos. BUT! The Ripsaw is not a tank in any way shape or form. It is a tracked vehicle along the lines of an APC. A tank is a whole 'nuther animal. Cheers, (former) SP5 Gant Eichrodt, Co. C, 4/68th (Airborne) Armor Batallion
It's marketed as a civilian tank. The title says tank, the brochure says tank, it is copywriter and trademarked as a tank
@@jaewhite2462 Cyberpunk was marketed as revolutionary but Half life one cockroach AI proved to be better than Cyberpunk pedestrians
You can put anything you want in a title and it won't make it true, no matter how convincing it sounds
It can be trademarked or whatever as a tank but it still won't be one, plain and simple
Can't say I'm surprised, after seeing how much he loved Heavy D's Ripsaw.
Yeah. He bought it from Heavy D. It used to belong to Kanye West. There’s only 3 of these in the US so it’s a very rare vehicle.
@@ericMT nice job you watched the video😂😂
Cleetus buys a tank, but I can't take my eyes of the Holden Ute in the background and wondering what you boys are upto with it
@0:34 The look on Mr. Sam's face! "I am SO gonna talk him into letting me rip that"!! 😆💨💨🏁
Your the perfect person to own this. All the motor work and stuff y’all do, this will be insane. Just promise us your gonna race Diesel Dave
At least he will take care of it properly.
I see a Holden in the back! Now we know where toasts motor is going in a true Australian burn out rig!
Glad I wasn’t the only one that seen it, as a fellow Aussie I’m happy to see it going in a Holden🤙
It's been there for a while. I noticed it last month.
Ayyyyyy I saw that too :)
Now that you’ve got your own race track, Can we get a lap time board like top gear?
How does a 700hp tank do on the oval
How has this not happened yet
He says in the video it doesn’t do well on asphalt.
I doubt they'd do it. They had wheelman and I think the series flopped so they stopped doing it.
It doesn’t do good on the oval. Watch Adam LZs video of all the Zs at the FF
Who cares if it isn't as fast as something else, I'd still like to know how different things stack up against each other
Totally cool. I would be real cautious about driving that thing on asphalt when the weather gets warmer. Those tracks will tear the s… out of hot asphalt. Especially when making sharp turns. Would hate to see all your new asphalt outside the shop all torn up.
Them rubber tracks shouldn't be a problem. If it had metal ones I'd worry about it
I like how a lot of people complain about how expensive these things are. ($425,000) But military tanks are much more expensive. (M1A1 Abrams, about $8,000,000)
Military tanks may have no luxury at all, but the Ripsaw is basically a Pinto when looking at suspension and driving systems. Especially with the turning system on this thing.
I feel like poor George is gonna be out of a cobalt tomorrow! ☠☠☠
Awesome add-on to the stable Cleetus. You'll be daily driving it before long 😉🙂 Aussie Fan 💯🇦🇺💯
Did you notice the ute chilling in the background from Aus aswell
@@R3KA90 glad I’m not the only one that seen it
@@brandonhummel362 it gonna be mental
You should try pulling the triggers on an Abrams. Then you'll feel real power.
No one would want one of those. They are so high maintenance its out of control, better options out there for an actual tank a civilian could own
@@renster143 I would but the comment wasn't about owning one. It was about sitting in the gunners seat and pulling triggers. If you you've done it then you know the feeling.
@@jamesclarke0804 my apologies I miss read the comment. It definitely makes much more sense now that I re read it. Your statement is very true. Nothing like hearing that 120 fire for the first time up close
I have seen a few of these on the internet, and I definitely prefer this one with it’s tray back and colour. Love it ❤️ from the 🇬🇧
The fact he says we have a tank not I says a lot about how he see his crew and how they helped him get where he is.
If Tim Gentry is there with his hauler, you know it's gonna be good.
Time for some compounded turbos and a fully built engine.
Howe & Howe, the builders of the ripsaw are just 5 miles from my home, they got the newer version out front of the building. They were contracted to build them for desert ops by the special forces in 2002-3, if you look on line there are plenty of videos of them being run in the winter and the desert of Maine and at moto 207 with Jay Leno. They are not cheap!
Started at wish turbo whistles now we have our own track and millions of dollars. What a come up.
LOL no crap and I was like who is this idiot? still following the content and character of all involved happy for this dude living the dream the whole crew are awesome
Needs a full series of TY/George videos, fixing and improving this thing.
Nothing you do is really that much of a surprise but damn I didnt see this coming
