Doing manicures on myself has been made so, so much easier when using blue cross. I actually enjoy doing my nails so much more now.

I've watched hundreds of professional nail care videos and your process is the easiest to understand and execute on one's own nails. I really appreciate your philosophy of "Progress over Perfection". But we should add "with Patience" to counteract our desire for instant gratification (I blame artificial nails and dry manicures). I've seen great results on my own nails health and appearance since I found your channel last Spring.

I discovered your videos a week or so ago and have been following your recommendations and omg my nails are looking so much better already! I still have a lot of surface damage from acrylics and overfiling that I’m waiting to grow out but my PNF are looking great. They have always been terrible until now and I was always so embarrassed of my nails. I didn’t know the difference between PNF and cuticle and would cut my PNF and then get frustrated that my skin looked crusty and bad. Now I understand why. I also have a tendency to pick if there’s anything there to pick at and would bite and rip the skin around my nails, but now it’s just smooth skin so the urge to pick at it is almost gone. Thank you so so much!

Thank you so much for all your hard work and the information you provide. I no longer have to use antibiotic creams and bandaids due to cracked, bleeding nail folds. Also, I actually had nail polish stay on my nails for a week, no chipping on the first day!! Thank you again!!!

I think I must have barnacle glue instead of cuticle. My PNF is very sticky. If I keep pushing them back every day, I have little to no cuticle to remove. Thanks to your helpful info/videos/tutorials, for the first time in my entire 60+ years, I have neat clean nails! It is really amazing what a difference. I also can't say enough about the difference the glass manicure stick has made. I use it to gently push back the PNF, since they're so sticky. The textured surface areas on the manicure stick are just grippy enough to hold while pushing back. Wooden or metal sticks would often ride right up and over the proximal nail fold and jab and bruise the skin beyond the PNF! Ouch!! Thank you so much for all the info!!

I have been doing my own nails for about a year now, and i was starting to get frustrated my living cuticle ,what you push back, i couldn't loft it enough with my e-file, instead i a lot off times had overfiled cuticle area, so i stopped, bc I could not get to clip it anyway, so i only remove what its visible in the sides, so to see this vid made my day and thought okay Camilla maybe your assumptions were correct. I will try to use the product you have recommended for feets, mine are really ruined with callus. Cant wait to se more nail goodies from you have a great day❤️

After watching so many of your video’s on cuticle care and removal I have just realised that I have been pushing the cuticle back, not just the living skin. Is there any downside of pushing the cuticle back along with the living skin, instead of just pushing the living skin back and actually removing the cuticle build up on the nail?

I have so much dead cuticle it will snag on items and cover 1/3rd to sometimes all of my nail plate if I dont push back and trim. I hate going to salons, though, because they will trim the skin fold until I bleed or hurt. The metal cuticle pusher I have feels like it's doing damage, so now Im on the hunt for a good glass/crystal file. The last time I got a crystal file from Sallys Beauty, which was supposedly the best one to get in America... it wasn't good and there was damage to the file the first time I used it! If someone has deep ridging, should they use a ridge filler, if no other damage is present?

I discovered your channel about 2 months ago and although I've watched (and benefited from) many of them, I think I had an epiphany with this one. Am I correct in this: first you push bavk the PNF, ideally every day or two, and only then do you use a cuticle remover to soften and remove the actual cuticle? If that's correct, how often can one safely use cuticle remover? Is > once a week safe? Thank you for all the information about techniques and product reviews!

I did my cuticles earlier this evening and glad to see I was doing it right (I've obviously learned from a previous video, thank you). I lightly filed the edges but not enough to reduce length as it's not needed at the moment. However, I have noticed sometimes when I take the length down I can feel a tiny 'edge' to my nails, despite filing from underneath (sorry but I can't think of a better way to describe it). Is it ok to lightly buff the edge downwards? It does smooth the 'edge' but I don't want to cause any damage.

    • @relarras
      @relarras 2 роки тому +2

May i add my 2 cents. I always use multiple files and finish with a very fine grit one very lightly, which just acts as a smoothing step. And that helps me with the problem you described.

    • @TheSalonLife

      Hello :))
You don't really need shaker for a nail polish especially if it's for your own use. For gel polish like Shellac I would say definitely
      Here is what I use:

      translated from Russian:
"Horror!!! The pterygium is not cleaned, the side ridges are too, the cuticle is stuck, the filing of the nails is not correct... Not an aesthetic manicure!!!"
Hello Irina! I remove all cuticle from the nail plate. I do not cut or abrade living skin. Usually, in my videos, I note that I do non-invasive manicures without any cutting and abrading. My clients choose my services for that reason.
Here is a reference to a current information regarding cuticle schoonscientific.com/2019/whats-new-nail-anatomy-latest-facts/
Some people prefer "deep" manicures and some people prefer gentle methods without any cutting and filing. To each its own.
This is a safer technique and this has been proven and it's a recommended technique by doctors, dermatologists, etc.
Invasive techniques are risky and can lead to permanent nail damage and infections.
www.nailcarehq.com/the-dangers-of-the-russian-manicure/
Any cutting of the living skin or abrading living skin, especially before any gel polish application raises the chances of clients developing allergies, and overexposure to artificial nail products.
Cuticle can be removed from the nail plate but proximal nail fold and lateral nail folds (both- living skin) should not be cut and abraded.
She doesn't have pterygium. Pterygium is an abnormal growth of the skin
      Here is a link:
      schoonscientific.com/2020/whats-new-in-nail-anatomy-pterygium-what-and-where-is-it/
My client's health and safety are more important to me than perfect before and after pictures. I display my work on IG so people know what kind of service they are receiving.
If it's not up to someone's standards or preference, then they can choose another provider.
There is room for everyone in this industry. There is no need for putting anyone down.
There is room for gentle services like mine and there is room for perfect "deep" manicures that border on surgery that look totally different, for some, they like it. So they get it.
There is a room for vegan restaurants and there is a room for steakhouses and everything in between.

I noticed that you used the Glass Cuticle Stick BEFORE removing the Blue Cross Cuticle Remover Cream on the Right hand, but AFTER on the Left hand. Did you notice any difference in the removal process between the two? Also, I’m so glad you used the Glass Cuticle Remover stick! I do my own natural nails at home, and LOVE all of my Glass manicure tools! I’ve inherited very thick ridges from my father, and Glass tools are the most effective at buffing the surface without causing damage by removing too much. You are the Manicure Fairy Godmother 🪄
