Based for putting Aegis in the Top 5. Also with Sephiroth you mentioned it not being that surprising because of Cloud being in, but I’d argue Cloud being in is what made it surprising. The idea of getting a 2nd character in a 3rd party series that wasn’t an echo, let alone a 3rd party villain felt insane. Cloud was already a massive deal but the content he came with was so limiting, so getting another FFVII rep just seemed unlikely to a lot of people, but then Sephiroth made it in and that opened the floodgates to other 3rd party villains like Eggman at the time
Haha thanks had to do it! That’s a really great point and hindsight is 20/20 but I just couldn’t put him higher over some other characters who were totally brand new
I don't think Joker will be the last Persona character to make it into Smash especially because Nintendo's relationship with Sega is now the biggest it's ever been. We're probably going to get the P6 protagonist and maybe Aigis because of her popularity. Side note: maybe even both, I wouldn't even be surprised if Nintendo asks for the P6 protagonist and Atlus says maybe you want Aigis as an extra no one would be upset that there are 2 persona characters in the DLC if it's Aigis. But that's just speculation
There’s probably a chance something like this happens again but Persona 5 was easily the most popular Persona game and it’s seriously insane we even got Joker
I think the P6 protagonist is one of the most likely Smash 6 newcomers, mainly for the DLC. I could see Atlus wanting a repeat of Joker with the P6 protagonist bringing more attention to P6 and Persona in general, and Nintendo for wanting another stylish fighter to start the DLC off, though maybe not the 1st DLC fighter
I'm sorry but saying Sephiroth was expected or predictable is downplaying his entrance to the series in the worst way possible. Square is notorious for not doing this kind of thing, like, ever. Cloud in smash 4 was said to be, by Sakurai himself, a nightmare to handle. Mainly due to it being hard to find a middle ground. So for the team to not only do it again, but twice (with Sora) was a monumental achievement for not only smash but square and nintendo as a whole as well. None of us saw him coming. A lot of us wanted him, absolutely. But if you were thinking rationally at all during that presentation at the game awards in 2020, he wasn't in your possible character predictions at all.
Not that it was expected or even that it was predictable but that I personally wasn't impressed by his inclusion because Cloud was already in. Except for maybe Byleth, every single character was completely shocking and amazing to have made it. Plus number six is decently high!
A little corrections is that terry bogard isnt from street fighter, but rather from Fatal Fury, so his inclusion feels a bit more new instead of another street fighter character. U might have got it twisted since he is in the mew street fighter 6 tho!!!
I couldn’t remember during recording what he was from! I think I avoided explicitly saying he was from street fighter but I mentioned that series as if he was from it so thanks for the correction!
Okay, I enjoyed the video and the points But, not to be brutally honest, please don’t don’t do the whole Jerry/Pitchfork/angry mob shtick 😅 It just ends up breaking up the video and brings it to a grinding halt. Not horrible, just a bit of a pace breaker
@@RaysNintendoTalk we love a good goofy mood! Trust me, it’s just important how to incorporate it is all 😉 Please don’t ever feel you can’t have that fun goofy tone, that’s not at all what I’m saying and I’d hate to find out you swore against having it
I heavily disagree with your Min Min placement, personally I absolutely loathe her and she is my least favourite character in the entire game. I find her to be unfun to play as and even more unfun to play against and beyond her stage there’s nothing redeemable about her.

Correction: I forgot about Hero lol. I don't play DQ. Point still stands though

C'mon Jerry put down the pitchfork
@@RaysNintendoTalk hey, never said you were wrong. Was just stating my own opinion.
