Hey, Hickok. Love your channel. I inherited my Father’s LC9s when he passed away in 2017. He was a huge fan of yours and he was the one who introduced me to your channel. Almost every time I’d go visit he’d be sitting at the computer watching your videos and cleaning a pistol 😄
The LC9s has been my edc since I inherited it and so far it’s been a fine companion. I’d rather have my dad than his pistol, but I think he’d be happy to know it’s close by my side.
Much appreciation for your knowledge and information.

I bought a used Ruger LC9S I had to send it into Ruger because the slide jammed. Ruger pretty much sent me a new gun. And I love this gun. That trigger is perfect for me. I shot like a pro with this gun.

I picked up the LC9s last week and was finally able to run 100 rounds through it today. I wanted something smaller than my Glock 23 (mid-sized .40 cal) for concealed carry. I did TONS of research based on size, weight, price, and quality, and narrowed it down to the LC9s, S&W M&P Shield, and Beretta Nano. The Nano is the smallest, although it looks and feels bigger than the LC9s to me. The Shield is noticeably heavier (and slightly larger) than the other two, and I like to carry IWB. I don't remember much about the Nano's trigger, because I was instantly put off by its feel in my hand (I think I wanted to love this one the most). To me, the Shield trigger felt like total garbage compared to the LC9s. I actually like the trigger on the LC9s MUCH better than the one on my Glock 23! Smooth as silk. Reset is longer than on the Glock, as it goes all the way back to where the trigger clicked on the first shot. That's about 1/2 way or so from front to back of the guard.
I bought a $22 box of Federal Champion round nose 115 grain jacketed ammo (100 rounds) at Wally World because I heard they were decent range rounds. They are! LC9s ate every one, and accuracy wasn't bad on most of them. Powder seems a little dirty though. I also put 4 rounds of DRT frangible 85 grain rounds through it just to feel the difference. I'm saving the rest for my current carry ammo. The kick is a little less, and the reviews on it are good.
Overall the LC9s shot REALLY well. I had nice groupings up to about 15 yards. I'm not very accurate past that, but I didn't buy this gun for long range. At 20-30 feet, I was grouping nicely.
    Only two issues:
    1. At about 75 rounds, I had a failure to feed the last round in the mag. Unfortunately, the mag had ejected and dropped about a quarter inch. I honestly am not sure if it was me or if it did it on its own as others have mentioned. It did not happen again.
    2. At 90 rounds, I looked down and saw my rear sight sitting on the table! It worked its way out of the dovetail and just fell out. I was half-way expecting this because I saw one other person on the interwebs had the same issue. I tightened it up for the ride home and took the other person's advice of throwing a little blue Loc-tite on the threads of the allen bolt. Should be fine now.
Anyone buying a new one shouldn't have to worry about the guide rod problem. All new ones ship with the updated rod. Easy enough to check by pulling back the slide to identify the cone-shaped end. The fix totally works too. I've heard complaints about having to push the takedown pin out. It was very tight on mine until today. After a little break-in, I can now flip the switch, pull the slide back slightly, and the pin falls right out. Other complaints have included the mag disconnect (doesn't really bother me), and the manual safety. Not being used to a manual safety (none on my Glock), I thought I would hate it. It turns out I kind of like it, and it is very easy to use. It has a very positive snap to let you know that it is disengaged. I will use it.
It rides very nicely and well-hidden in a DeSantis Sof Tuck holster in the 4 o'clock position. I can even sit in a chair or in the car comfortably without removing.
I'm really pleased with this gun! I like it and shoot it better than my Glock 23. Since it is so much smaller and lighter, I'll actually carry now instead of taking out the old ball and chain just "sometimes". The other two guns I narrowed down to (Nano and Shield) are both GREAT. My personal pref was the LC9s and I have no regrets. It's a little snappy I guess, but again, I'm used to .40 so it isn't bad at all to me. Sorry for the long post here, but I wish someone had posted some of this info when I was researching. Consider this gun!

Thirty-two years in Federal law enforcement. Twenty years as an agency firearms instructor. Two years as a firearms instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, GA. I've shot them all, i.e. Glock, Sig, H&K, etc. This LC9s is the greatest single stack CC 9mm on the market. Have a S&W Shield and out of the box, it does NOT hold a candle to the LC9s. Also have a LCP 2nd Gen with the great new trigger. I never thought I would be carrying Rugers, but they seem to be the best CC firearms available in 9MM and .380. I know Hickok, you love the Kahr P380, but after three trips back to Kahr, I finally sold it and got the new LCP.

I waited a long time for a .380 sized 9mm compact CCW carry gun. The Ruger Lc9s 9mm pro is that gun for me. I have looked at alot of reviews on this weapon. There are alot of people bad mouthing Ruger. But it's about the Lc9 and the really bad trigger pull. Ruger fixed the trigger pull and now it's striker fire gun. The seven rd and 9 rd extended mag are just right for the 9mm compact. I added a Houge grip. My hands and fingers are bigger than most owners so the Hardball slip on grip helps me not to loosen up to much. But still it's concealable. MY gun eats any kind of ammo. The price was $329.00 at my local dealer. I never buy at the big store. I want to keep my local dealer store open. Shawn

Because of my research and watching this video about 5 times while looking for the perfect CCW, I bought this from Tombstone tactical in Az over a month ago . I will say it is a sweet shooter and love it. However the grip would slip in my hand because it's small and surprised me with the amount of recoil it has. Extraordinary good review, Hickok45, of the Ruger LC9s. Hickok45 smiled like a kid at Christmas, when talking about the Ruger LC9s.
The cameraman goes by the moniker, Big-John, which must be his shooting name. At the beginning of the video, Hickok45 just revealed Big-John's true name, when he looked at the cameraman and said, "Yes, Siree-Bob!" = That's an unsual name, Siree; Big-John must be from Kentucky, too!
With this review of the Ruger LC9s, Hickok45 just sold a lot of pistols for Ruger. ~We all know Hickok45 is a very honest man.~ >The Ruger executive reading all the comments, should make sure the Ruger gun company says, 'Thank-You.'
Hickok45 will get people looking at the LC9s at gun shows, gun stores, and out test firing the LC9s at gun ranges. Hickok45, with this review, will set the standard for all the other LC9s reviews on UA-cam. Hickok45 is the Behemoth of the Utuber gun channels.

I use this for my mountain bike gun; lightweight and reliable and minimal. I have other pistols, but with a sweatproof, velcro-belt holster, inside my shorts, this is what I use as I'm pedaling and exerting myself, and it works. I wanted the safety-lever. If I take a tumble or crash, I feel good the gun couldn't somehow go off somehow if I'm riding safety-on, cocked and locked due to the safety trigger. Usually carry condition 3, but if I'm way out the sticks or feeling nervous, I might go to cocked and locked. But the tumbling factor is why I carry this nice little gun when riding. Shoots good for what I want it for.

I know that this is an old video but thought I would post about the issues I had with mine and how I fixed them. First, the magazines would pop out just by wiggling them a bit. I replaced the US made mags with Italian made ones and have had no more issues with them. Second, the extractor would not grip the case properly. It would extract but not hold the shell so it would drop out and cause a jam if you had to fire sideways behind cover. I know others found the same issue. I found that the machining where the extractor rode against the detent plunger for it was really rough. Smoothing and polishing those surfaces solved the problem.
The magazine safety is pretty easy to remove, lots of youtube videos about that.

Was looking for a small carry gun in 9mm and couldn't decide. After watching your video last night I finally made a decision to buy the LC9s. 369.00 and they threw in the 9 round mag at no extra cost. I've been watching your reviews for quite a while now and I would have to say in my opinion there the best on youtube.

I just bought this gun. Got the Titanium Blue LC9s and let me tell you! this thing is a dream to shoot. The trigger break is so clean and perfect. I put 150 rounds though it this evening at my local range and it beats the hell out of my SCCY CPX-1 any day. Less noticeable recoil and I was far more accurate with it. I was sold after watching hickok45's review and also intend on using it as my daily concealed carry weapon. Picked up a Concealment Express kydex holster for it and its so slim I can barely even tell i'm carrying. Thanks hickok45! I love your video's. Keep up the great work.

I just bought the LC9s my 3rd LC9 and hickok45 is on the money. The trigger make a big difference. The old LC9 I would shoot 10 or 20 rounds and say yep it works let me shoot something else. The LC9s I reloaded many times was fun to shoot... and follow up shots are so much faster and accurate that it's a much more effective carry gun. So now I need to get rid of one of my old LC9... Thanks again hickok45...

If it helps anyone's decision: I just bought an LC9s. I'm normally a rifle guy but I boutght this for my concealed. It's a great shot. The first shot I fired out of this was a perfect shot to a soda can at about 15 yards. Tru glo sights makes this a gread home defense weapon. I've fired a lot of rifles and pistols in my life and this is a good choice. Especially a great learner pistol.

Very nice shooting. Great Video. I have had Glock, Smiths & Ruger...for me, Ruger is the one. I have an SR45 which is a fun gun, accurate and a nice trigger pull but little big for conceal carry but I do. Yesterday I bought the LC9s. I have gotten E-mails from Ruger about the LC9s, I've read tons of literature on them and it had sounded like a very nice gun. After holding it yesterday, I bought it. Before I bring it home, I ordered a Viridan Red Laser sight to be installed on it. Should be ready for pick-up next week and I cant wait. Happy shooting and God Bless. †

The removal of the magazine disconnect is pretty easy to do on the lC9s. Its the same process as the LC9 but on the LC9s you must first punch out the roll pin on the trigger safety in order to access the pin that holds the trigger in. once removed, just slide out the metal magazine disconnect safety, reassemble, and youre back in business.

Just an FYI for those who new to this size range. The Shield is now available without the thumb safety. Of all the single stack guns on that table, its the softest shooter for recoil. So for new shooters I'd say get your hands on one. The XDs would be a very close second but there is a little creep in the trigger of the XDs after the take-up. The little Kahr CM or PM9 is the best pocket carry option for size and weight but more felt recoil and shorter sight plain so a bit tougher to get tight groups. Not a bad choice on that table for concealed carry.

Bradley Slackenfelch I have a Ruger LC9s with 3 7-round magazines and 1 9-round magazine. The 7-round magazines work fine.
