Can a hobbyist who mastered creating environment art over years doing it in his free time and become good at it....be employed? To work without any school certificate or a degree? Means that only your portfolio shows what you're good at
In the industry ONLY portfolio matters, portfolio is king-and that you are easy to work with. If you choose school make sure to learn the basic principals of art. They are fundamental to all mediums.

Concept artist are probably the most important part of the pipeline since they get ideas quickly on paper - designs, iterations, etc.
