I watched maybe five other vids on how to play that same song, but yours actually showed what I was missing. Would have been nice to hear a whole verse, but I am really impressed w your instructions. Thank you.
Really good lesson. I just started a few months ago and I think this is going to be the first full song that I learn. Thank you for breaking it down so well!
Lauren I'm a beginner guitarist after recently retiring and this is one of my favorite songs by John. I have watched other's videos, but I have say you make it a lot easier to follow over the others. I am going to be following you moving forward. You make it easy to understand. I have subscribed.
Hi Lauren! I have big issues with the rhythm and I kept trying with this song, as it's quite easy to start with, but only after watching this video I was able to finally execute it and even get back to the song after making mistakes or breaks. Your teaching skills are incredible, other videos were much less helpful and even pausing them constantly didn't help me. Thank you for this guitar lesson!
Thank you! I got it antiquing in New Hampshire. I wanted something that would match the age of our house. The original was built 1839s but the additions were put on in the late 20s.
quality video here! Thank you so much! this was great, from the time of the song and the different levels we can play in, and how we can progress in it. Really loved it!
I discovered your channel yesterday but your lessons really great, i watched a lot guitar learning lessons here on youtube but your channel is one of the best. Thank you for the great job.
Great lesson!! Great song!!! Just realized it reminded me of a song I just heard for the first time yesterday that you could probably teach as a beginner song. Not that I’m a big oasis fan but they do tend to write good tunes for beginners because they seem to always use the same, chords, they just change up the order or move the capo around. Anyway, the song is Eh La by Liam Gallagher and like this,it’s a 3 chord song that would be good for beginners!
Thank you so much! I am just learning guitar and this has always been one of my favorites! I thought it would be so much harder! I am so inspired! I'm already starting to sound like I play the guitar :-)
This is great lesson and could be a useful exercise take one chord and try to make it sound interesting then when it does give yourself the luxury of a second chord it will make you think outside of just stringing chords together
I always tell students it's not about making something difficult and complicated it's about taking one thing and figuring out what you can do with that.
I can’t read music and don’t understand ANYTHING I’m looking at when I thumb through guitar books. But I do have an ear for the notes and I’ve got the basic chords down. I’ve learned SO much from your videos and my kids think I’m the coolest dad cause I can play Last Kiss from Pearl Jam😏 and all the other goodies you’ve taught me😂 If they only knew I’m basically just cheating😂 I went and bought me a $600 Yamaha acoustic/ electric with a Fender amp. I’m in it now😳
Great lesson Lauren. You show the hammer on the A minor but is that the only chord we use it on? I will go and listen to the original but a lot of times I do not hear some of these licks as I am sure my ears are just not as tuned as yours or many folks.
I found this very helpful However, don’t think it was showed how to go from the hammer to the G chord I having difficulty moving from rhythm to incorporating G
Hi Lauren, in your studio there I see a really old radio behind you to your left. Does it work??? Does it have the name brand on it and do you know roughly how old it is?? Thanks!

Well after watching a whole bunch of instructors, wouldn’t you know it, a lady is the smartest and smoothest teacher. Easy listening, easy learning!
Ha ha ha. Thanks Fred.
As a female, I wasn't going to say it, but I was sure thinking it! lol
This is hands down the best lesson I've found on how to play this song. Very well done indeed.
Wow! Thanks for watching!

Hammering very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice on Laura, I'm sure John would have approved... I do... And we both came from the same birthplace, Liverpool :)
Aww thanks!
I like the counting...it really helps....a sing a long would be good too.
Hey Tessa, thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed
Cool video, you should try the double drop D version sounds more moody
Very interesting!
Hi Lauren great lesson I found that really useful. thankyou.
You’re welcome 😊
"Am" is Am-azing!
"As" is John Lennon, great tune...
And who doesn't like the sound of a hammer 🔨 on??
Great lesson!
Thanks Teach! 🍎
Hey thanks Zayne!
I think Joan didn't like the sound of Maxwell's Silver Hammer-on...
🔨🤕
How do you play John Lennon song, just like starting over please from Dave Askey uk
Not sure I know that one. Will have to look it up.
I can’t read music and don’t understand ANYTHING I’m looking at when I thumb through guitar books. But I do have an ear for the notes and I’ve got the basic chords down. That's awesome Al. You're the cool Dad now! Woo hoo. Rockstar.
Hi Lauren, love your lessons. What does the 5 refer to in the A5 power chord? Thanks
5 refers to the 5th which is the second not of a power chord. When you see that 5 it tells you player a power chord.
@@LaurenBateman thank you so much.. You have a new student.

Hey Bill, Am in the majority of the song. There could be a few places were he does them on the G.
U r very good, Mauritius
Thank you so much!
Brilliant
Thanks!
When you come to G chord, do you continue with the alternating bass line or just revert to the D DU DU pattern?
The G is only one measure so no you wouldn't do that.
Hi, Lauren, if i play with Pik, can´t play Hammer ons, but without Pik, i can do it, but so quietly.😥
That's fine.
@@LaurenBateman Really?
I found this very helpful
However, don’t think it was showed how to go from the hammer to the G chord
I having difficulty moving from rhythm to incorporating G
Ahh sorry if I missed that 😔
@ Don’t worry about it-I tell people you the best teacher. I retired and now time to learn.
I have a question. When I am strumming the high E, 1st string, rings out louder than the rest. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you
Higher frequencies do that. It will also do that more on up strums than down strums.
@@LaurenBateman no, most of the time it is on my down strum.
Waw!Excellent💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🏌️
Thank you
❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️
Hi Lauren, in your studio there I see a really old radio behind you to your left. Does it work??? Does it have the name brand on it and do you know roughly how old it is?? Thanks!
It does not work. It's an old tube radio I picked up at an antique store. It's a Silvertone Radio by Sears & Reobuck. I believe it's from the 1930s.
@@LaurenBateman thank you, it's fantastic.
Hi... M❤❤
Hello 😊
you should buy a mic, I struggle to hear you
Thanks for the suggestion.
@@LaurenBateman I can hear you just fine, although I did need to turn the volume up a bit... then when the ads come on, THEY are loud!
