Great question, my thinking was that these cheap heaters are better on a small contained system. Their components do not do well in an outdoor vibrating environment. It would probably cost as much as the heater in fittings and hoses to tee in properly to the semis fuel system. I also wanted see how long the system will last so I opted to do the stand alone fuel tank. Thank you for your question.
Thanks for the helpful video. Now I can quit stalling and git 'er done. I am heating a 40' school bus, so I will install two under my bunk, which is in the back of the bus. Gittin' 'er insulated proper's gonna be my biggest concern.
Nice video, thank you for sharing, personally I still believe using a small generator and connect a heater to it, is still the best and safest and most noninvasive alternative for heating the cabin when overnighting. What do you think?
Why would you put a tank under your bunk????? Filling is going to be loads of fun. Just run it direct to you diesel tank. I just ran mine to fuel line going to fuel pump with a one way valve so as truck pump wouldn't drain heater line.In a gasoline van , yes , you would need tank. But still run tank outside, filling should always be done from outside of vehicle. Just saying.
Yeah. Bizarre. Plus he would have to lug the diesel up into the cab, fill it without spilling any and he has the supplied fuel pump under the bed - the last place you would want to mount it.
Ya guys I know those are legit concerns however, for me I don't overnight often, and I have a really nice 10 liter fuel can that doesn't spill and isn't heavy. Also this way I can monitor for leaks and the cheap Chinese plastic isn't exposed to weather and sunlight. Thank you for your comments. I only use the heater in the winter to warm the cab while I wait an hour for the engine to warm up.
Just so you know, you could use a small gas can or diesel can. Just take the cap off remove the funnel, And use just the cap. I'm using a 6.5 gallon boat gas tank.
I actually have two of these heaters. One is in the semi that you just watched the install for and the second is in my RV. In the RV I've had to replace the Chinese rubber hose connections twice since I've installed it. It's still running without any issue. I did look up the elevation settings for that size of heater and I change it whenever I'm changing elevation. In the semi it ran for 3 years and the rubber has gone bad on that also and I need to change it out but it's also still running.

No, I have three very large batteries on the semi. But I don't overnight often. I mostly use it to warm the cab in the winter while I wait an hour for the engine to warm up.
Bad idea to install fuel tank inside. Why u decided use that plastick fuell tank at all?
why not pull diesel right from the trucks fuel tank?
The straight-through silencer is actually 2 dB quieter than the one that curves.
Why you didn't you used fule tank from the truck

How long have you had it? If you did this video 4 years ago, is it still working?

Why didn’t you just run fuel line to tank on truck
I tried running it on my tanks but it didn’t work so I ended up using the plastic shit like he did 😢
Do you have a link to where you ordered this?
Amazon, search diesel heater. Thank you for your comment!
Would love to know if it will run the battery dead or not running all night
No, it only draws 10 amps for two min then 1-3 Amos when running. Not enough to drain overnight
I appreciate that. Any idea how much you have in that set up?
@@scottbulach how much what? Money? Amps? Time?
