I massively enjoyed my time working there but I’m disappointed that you have moved but also glad to see it as it was cramped in there. You as a business completely outgrew and is soaring as a business. There is also a lot more Nando’s around your new dc. If there was ever a chance to work at gymshark I would love to take that opportunity.

Working in a large e-commerce business that my family owns in Australia being able to see this is very cool to compare how our distribution centres around the country compare and have very similar practices. Just in the process of opening a new DC in Western Australia.
I would really highly warn you about opening in California. If you have to pay even a couple mil to back out of a contract, I would. Working in warehouses and retail for multiple years in California. You will struggle to keep building and growing there. Any business that makes money in California loses it in California because they are in California. I can give very exact reasons pertaining to retail front and warehouse front as why it's a detrimental business decision to open anything in California. Utah, Nevada, Texas, Colorado, and Arizona all have great warehouse capabilities which will allow you grow in the US easier and have a solid lean operational success. 3 of 7 retail stores I worked at are now gone completely or have moved to another state. 2 warehouses I worked at disbanded and moved states. Tesla, Uline, and multiple other companies are moving or adding more functional warehouses in surrounding states. As someone who loves logistics and numbers and planning, I admire gymsharks foundational excellence in customer satisfaction and investment in standards of business many overlook. Please reach out to multiple running, athletic, and privately owned gym owners and get their feed back on what it is like having business in California. The numbers don't lie, and the experiences concur with the numbers. I moved to Utah, just so my income tax and property tax wouldn't be so high I couldn't make ends meet for my wife and kid that's on the way. Business taxes are ridiculous, rent and property ownerships taxes are plentiful, labor costs is raising each year and not producing any benefits, even getting work is hard, just to get them in the door. Truly I want businesses to succeed, and it's not in California. The "savings" projected in plans are nulled and destroyed with operational costs and routine bills that will come through monthly and even weekly sometimes.
To note: this is my opinion as someone who has seen California's demise for businesses and companies trying to grow and moving away and seeing possible growth elsewhere in such a short time. I don't think and I know you have more knowledge than me, I just felt like I should say this just to put the thought in your head to look at all possibilities and the true 10 to 15 year roi that could be had in states not just California. I know you have insight to the states possibilities and opportunity but unfortunately I've seen things over-hyped and the truth stretched in pitch meetings with regard to opportunity and the true factual outcome. Boring question for most, but I'm currently frustrated with the limitations of my 3PL...

It is true though - I have never bought gym shark because they cost just as much as Nike, without being better. AND shipping to the US isn't within 5 days, which is a hard no. Besides actual logistics companies - no one can come even close to Amazon. Nobody can not make money for 20 years and invest billions into a non core part of your actual business.
