Mr Gunn, you are Godsent! I am so thankful that your account exists, as your videos are so incredibly helpful in regard to tackling structure in A-Level History!!
Hi Mr Gunn, I’m currently in year 12 and doing an essay based on ‘How far was the army responsible for the instability in the years 1649-60?’ My factors I’ve chosen are Oliver Cromwell, the Army and the radicals, however I’m not really certain of what evidence to provide. If you wouldn’t mind in explaining a few examples for each factor? Thank you
Hi, I would suggest the following; Cromwell - dissolving the Rump (53), failure to accept crown in Humble Petition (57) and succession of Richard (58) - failure to accept crown could also be linked to the role of the army. Army - Pride's purge (48- before the period in Q but creates the Rump, which is relevant to the question), Rule of the Major Generals (55-57), Monck's intervention (60) - there is more but these are probably the top three for me. Radicals - Leveller mutiny in Burford (49), Ranters and Blasphemy Act (49-50) and Fifth Monarchists in Nominated Assembly (53). Here is the revision video I have done on this period; ua-cam.com/video/eLndmZg6HGY/v-deo.html - I made it a while ago and the quality isn't great, but it may be useful. Here is a more recent video I did comparing the Republic to present day politics which also may offer some relevant points - ua-cam.com/video/0WiMMU5ciyI/v-deo.html Thanks for the question, it's made me realise I could do a new video on this period!
@@mrgunnhistory Thank you so much for this in history we're going so fast it's difficult to remember everything with the other subjects I'm taking. I like your videos a lot, they explain everything in detail and I hope you have a nice day. Thank you again🙏

This series of videos applicable to ocr exam board?
As general principles yes, there may be slight variations but I have taught OCR and these should be useful guides for those essays too.
