I loved this game in the arcades so much. It was way ahead of it's time, there was so much variety to the enemies, and the shmup stages was the icing on the cake.
I can definitely tell the hardware available at the time just wasn't prepared for the ambitions of the developers. This game looks like it belongs in the early 90s.
Beating this game on normal or easy difficulty is an achievement. Beating this game on Very Hard difficulty with lives left and get over a million points is only a feat great gamers do. Using no cheats while at it is priceless! Well done!

I watched older kids play this at an arcade. I remembered all the visuals, but I could not pronounce or remember the title. I finally figured it out after 30+ years only to realize that it's one of the worst named games in history that doesn't work in so many languages.
I played this back in the day along with magmax, it took me ages to find out what the game was called because i had forgotten it, had to trawl through an entire list of spectrum games to find the name.
The best experience is had by overclocking the emulator CPU to 200% + and that will eliminate the slow downs the actual hardware suffers from and it will give you the experience that the creators of the game actually strived for.

I did this when I was 7. I just forgot to move the joystick to the right on the last planet - on being shown... I did it. Very tough.
I did it when I was 3, that was hard it took me 2 hours but I did it.
I've always wondered how much of an influence this was on Super Metroid.
Also, the music is brilliant! Is it available anywhere?
Back in the day, I thought the original Metroid was a home port of this game.
