Have you ever tried sewing the strip using a nylon thread and a small blind hem stitch on both sides of strip. Sew next to strip and having the swing stitches to barely catch the strip. This is how I’ve did appliqués and they have lasted real well on a quilt that’s used and washed a lot. Use small stitches.
Thanks, Faye! I have used nylon on edges sometimes, and sometimes I like the little bit of extra texture that a cotton thread makes. I admit I haven't done much with a blind hem stitch, but I'll give it a try.
I just discovered a product new to me today. It is fusible thread by Superior. You use it in your bobbin an it would work great on tacking down your thin curved strp! Love your videos and have picked up some great ideas from you. Thank you for sharing you art with us.
It would work great, Bonnie, as long as the strip was narrow enough for the needles to be close to the edge. Thanks for the reminder--I should have mentioned that!
Oh, gosh, Lucille; I don't think it's silent--it had audio when I edited and exported it... hopefully it's just something that got inadvertently switched off on your phone?
Love listening to your thought process as you go.
Thanks, Shellie! I appreciate you watching and commenting.
More ideas. Thanks. Started putting 2.5” squares together for the mystery. Can’t wait.
Yay! Sunday, and clue 3, is coming!
Another fun and interesting video to watch and listen to while I hand quilt! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Brenda; happy quilting! (I'm still in awe of your hand quilting.)

I have this but haven't tried it. I actually forgot what I purchased it for! Good idea!
Superior has great threads, and this sounds like a good idea; thanks, Joyce!
This is giving me some new ideas! Thank you!
It's my pleasure, Julie; I'm happy that it has given you some ideas so you can take off on your own adventure!

Thank you Graciela; I'm happy you're going to try the technique! Have a good week.
So fascinating
Love how you think!
Thanks, Lisa! My brain likes to play with fabric, I guess. :-)
My brain is not drawn to wonky. Really like the bright solid colors!
I understand, Mary Jo--the brain likes what the brain likes, and our brains are all different!
I love watching your tutorials as they challenge the norms. Thank you very much.
Thank you Frances; it makes me happy that you're enjoying the videos--thanks for watching!
You could stitch your .25" tape down with a twin needle.
How would a twin needle work to sew it down?
It would work great, Bonnie, as long as the strip was narrow enough for the needles to be close to the edge. Thanks for the reminder--I should have mentioned that!
I don't have any double-sided tape so I used thin strips of Steam-a-seam 2 (lite).
What a great idea! You're really thinking--you're improving with materials, not just piecing. 🥰
I had been taught to pull the tape maker by the tab or handle and follow with the iron, not push it with the iron.
💗💗💗
Thanks, Brenda!
Silent video? Or is it my phone? 🤔

@@WarpedSpinster any way, it looks beautiful.
I love it.
