- The JF-17 Block 2, the second iteration of the fighter, was considered comparable in its capabilities to the F-16, although the more modern F-16C variants did enjoy some flight performance advantages which came at the expense of higher maintenance requirements and a lower sortie rate. The JF-17 did retain a number of other advantages however, including a higher operational altitude and far superior anti ship capabilities due to the types of munitions it had access to such as the C-802 cruise missile.

All older pakistan F-16's other than the ones bought from Jordan have been re-furbished and upgraded to BLK 52 standards
I don’t understand why people are always comparing fighter jests built by two countries and why it is a hot topic.
Each fighter had its own advents and disadvantages. Also, fighter itself there are many categories like Light Weight, Medium Weight and Heavy weight which had its own usage. Which fighter has to be used is depending on the operation that needs to be carried out. For example, if a fighter jet has to fly a long distance and has to cover a wider area, then the heavy weight twin engine is better since it can carry huge fuel and more weapons.
So, instead of comparing always weapons built by two counties, compare other well-being areas of the countries like Economy, Education facility, Health Care facility, Transportation facility, Space Technologies, Motor vehicle production, Number of Engineering and Medical graduates produced per year, Software outsourcing, Production of medicines and vaccines, International Business, Leadership development etc. Focus on these things as well instead of concentrating for development of weapons
Since it is easily available and there are no restrictions from foreign powers on provisions of its components,therefore it will enhance PAF operational readiness
JF 17 block 3 is a game changer and as they are adding the stealth technology to the plane, it will beat india as they don't have any 5th gen stealth fighter - Inshallah and Ameen.

Learning to fly her on DCS which is a simulator and man is she heaps of fun to fly. With a HOTUS and VR it is the next best thing, I have mountains of respect for the Pakistani Pilots that fly her! (Been watching airshows all morning.) And at 25 million the JF-17 is the best value for money fighter on the market.

You can't take away the fact it's a great achievement for Pakistan to produce it's own inhouse fighter, all be it with Chinese support. Plus it appears to be getting serious interest as an export potential as an added bonus especially picking up those sales with nations that due to political reasons or expense are unable to consider the F-16 as a viable option . Doe's Pakistan produce the missiles it can carry though ? as at the end of the day that's what gives it it's teeth.
PL 15 is a 200 Km BVR missiles---. The PL21 that should be coming soon is a 300 + Km range missile---.
Why would you need a 300KM Missile? The J/F-17 Block 3’s radar only detects out to 200KM.
@@kurousagi8155 Why would you want to use the JF17's radar when the awacs can target and launch the missile---or another aicraft farther up can target and launch the missile of a different aircraft---.
Vic Multani wouldn’t the AWACs have to be farther away from the battle zone, limiting the effectiveness of the AWACS control on munitions? Pakistan only has 8 AWACs aircraft anyways, so this scenario is more rare than a conflict between fighter patrols.

Here 1st and 2rd points are most important to decide indigenousness.
In case of F-16, 1st and 2rd are 100% by USA.
I know you're proud of your F-17. But your own status prove
that the F-16 is a better aircraft
We know Latest models of F16 are still better than JF17 in many aspects, but the key point is that JF17 is our own product, we dont depend on any foreign country for its upgrade, maintenance and even for new production and customization.
It looks great, but just a flying empty box. Not quality radar, not better missiles and restrictions to use against India.
This comparison is old for now. It was in 2007.
