We're buying Rafale/fa-18 because INS Vikrant aircraft carrier will be commissioning on August 15, 2022 after which we will go short on carrier based fighter jets.
After commissioning, INS Vikrant will use old MIG-29K jets but our old aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya will be left empty so to fill it, around 36 Rafale/fa-18.
TEDBF's serial production will start by 2029 and with the induction of TEDBF the old 45 MIG-29K will be decommissioned simultaneously. By 2035 all the MIG-29K will be decommissioned and India will also launch its 3rd aircraft carrier by then and our navy will again buy TEDBF for 3rd aircraft carrier.
What if as per plan, Indian navy don't buy but lease Rafale/fa-18.
If you say that TEDBF is failure then someone might believe you but AMCA can't fail because India desperately needs 42 squadrons of fighter jets and if IAF can buy 83 Tejas mk1A and 100+ Tejas mk2 then it won't be different for IAF to operate around 70 AMCA mk1

The Mig-21s are heavily outdated, BUT they can be still useful as ground attack jets, after the better fighters (like Mig-29s) cleared the area from enemy fighter jets. While the modern jets are doing the dangerous dogfights, the older planes can attack the supply lines and the infrastructure.
It's not the aircraft alone, it's the skill of pilot that decides the outcome. What has the US airforce achieved in Vietnam and Afghanistan?

For the Mirage 2000, you are describing the old version which is being modernised to the close -5mk2 version equiped with new Radar, 4 Mica EM A2A missile +2 Mira IR. At least half of the Mirage have already been upgraded to the new version by HAL.

@@sagarmoyjana6837 there’s still no Super Sukhoi project in official upgradation programme. IAF & HAL froze no upgrade of changes to the Su-30MKI design.
All of the Mirages were upgraded to dash5 standards in 2018-19.
We bought the Expensive Upgrade from Dassault while Israel was giving similar package at much affordable price. 🙄🙄
@@rajatdani619 No, the upgrade is still ongoing. In 2021, so 10 years after the begining of the programm, 50% of the fighters still remains to be upgraded. It will finish in 2023 at best.
And I will tell you something. If I agree that Israel is able to propose something cheaper, it is absolutely not possible that they propose something similar. Because the version of 2000-5mk2 is a full standard developped by Dassault Aviation (and Co.). Which is similar to the developpment of a new aircraft, except for the airframe.
Israel has never developped anything for the 2000. So they could propose something like a new radar, new weapons, new devices, but need to integrate them all in an airframe they don't know. A fighter aircraft upgrade is not a PC in which you will only need to add some RAM and change graphic card to update it...
In the price, you have also a full rebuild of each airframe in order to extend life of it, and, more than that, a transfer to HAL. (which, by the way, have crashed the first aircraft they have upgraded by their own...)
@@bug2k64 haha dude Just one thing, Israel never operated The T72 tank they just captured few from its neighbours, yet they are currently Upgrading Indian T72 with polish. They never used the d30, But Their soltem is Upgarding our D30 to 155mm Howitzer.
So clearly u are underating Israel and it's capabilities.

i am from gwalior and i am pretty sure the clips of mirage 2000 are from gwalior airforce base...i used google earth and matched the angle...and yup it is indeed gwalior airforce base...can u confirm please? @Aviationwall

3:29 Contrary Mirage delta wing cause low maneuverability, it has excellent hit and gone, ground-attack capability that why air force loves it.
I don't think we will ever know. The amount of information and misinformation out there on delta wing design can make a person who isn't associated with piloting fighters confused, a lot.
Mirage has very small wing like structure just behind it's canopy above it's wing.
That small thing does miracles with controlling the air flow and gives mirage nice instantaneous and sustained turn rate.

Actually these fighter jets not make our IAF great but the skills of IAF pilots have & Indian scientist who added lethal indigenous technology (for example indigenous algorithm & offcourse Brahmos) makes these fighter jets great 😃

We should develop more advanced aircraft such as US n Russia do have. Raptor n SU 57 cz it's a need. Our India is capable to develop advanced technology but still our some authorities don't wanna put funds in R&D. I hope we should empower our HAL and invite new talent from our renowned universities. 1. Air force ( to battle enemy aircrafts )
2. Marine Air force/ Naval airforce ( to battle threats to its navy or support Marine operations )
3. Air support for Ground Troops ( extra firepower for the army )
That is a superior way of handling things.
They have crashed their own heli during the fight. 😂 recently they crashed 2 su 30 mki. You are expected to maintain 3 categories of air force 😂😂

Induct more Rafales. Completely phase out the Mig 21 fighters which belong in a museum. Convert the Tejas into a advanced jet trainer with secondary combat capability. Increase annual flying hours, and provide better training facilities to our pilots.
Future wars will be two front war. Quality will matter more than quantity.

Well it doesn't matter if you have foreign fighters, it's your tactical capabilities that matter, every other country has the same weapon you do, except original weapons manufacturers ofcourse but still your overall weapon integration, tactics makes you the real deal!!

the defense budget is 70.62 billion dollars, but only 30-40 is used, since they want to "save" but they lost due to lack of modernisation to the pakistanis in a 37 hour long fight
How dare you, anti-national! How will our union ministers buy houses and luxury cars for their families, buy opposition MLAs, and fill their Swiss bank accounts if they spend money modernizing the IAF? We can always beg US and Europe for help if Pakistan and China attack us. We don't need planes.

It was during 1940s America, Russia, Germany and Briton developed their first generation of fighter jets.Now after almost 80 years we are about to make our first fighter plane.
They were free nations , India was not even open market till 1991 , we had late start of about 60 years . Previous goverment were more import pros
We've already made our fighter jet.
It's a 4.5th Gen aircraft, with the Tejas MK 2 going to be a 5th Gen aircraft.
The HAL AMCA Mk 1 will be a 5th gen aircraft, and the HAL AMCA Mk 2 will be a 5.5-6th gen aircraft.
While we're lagging, it's not nearly as bad as you say.

The Su-30 MKi has a large payload and fuel capacity but good BVR missiles haven't been integrated with it.

Teja's are a lemon of an aircraft, apparently detested by the pilots who fly them. Classic case of putting cheap nationalism against hard-nosed air capability. Apart from the Rafale all the IAF planes are 40-50 years old and heavily Russian based. Further, all recorded conflicts since 1967 have shown Russian air-superiority fighters to be inferior to those of the US, UK and France - unless one assumes that western based pilots are superior to Russian trained pilots, which I do not accept. However, I guess you're up against Pakistan and heavily altitude compromised China, so it probably doesn't matter that much.
