Agreed. The model kits have good amount of accessories (except for Spallow) and articulation, and were really cheap when they came out. Totally worth it.
Gundam Age is by-far one of the most underappreciated lines in Gundam's history in my opinion. It's a shame the response to the anime was so negative because AGE standardized engineering that previous entries would treat as ultra-premium. With AGE, every single Federation-style suit is just as feature-rich and articulated as this Age-1.
I knew you would love this kit. I really love the design of the AGE-1 Normal, and when I learned that this thing had a moving back skirt, I was immediately sold. That is a feature that you don't see even on many modern High Grades. The excellent color separation and many options for a suit that otherwise has a very simple loadout were just gravy. By the way, you could easily make a foil sticker for the short DODS rifle as well just by taking an Xacto knife to the excess green on the sticker sheet. There's plenty of leftover material to work with, and while it doesn't make a huge difference on this particular kit, it is a pretty good practice to get into (if you're not comfortable with painting).
I'd rather two HGFC Dark Gundam kits, and a Death Beast kit to compliment the Dark Army kit that's been made. You know: things that do not exist currently. But hey: new Strike Dagger in April I think. That'll be a birthday present to myself.
AGE line of Gunpla is like the spiritual ancestor of modern Gunpla we have for the last decade. The engineering used on this line can be seen on the other great Gunpla lines
While I did find the anime to be a mixed bag, I did enjoy 2nd Generation the most. Asemu having no X-rounder abilities and living in his father's shadow, getting mentored by an Ace pilot, then finally understanding he doesn't need X-rounder abilities to be a good pilot. Then it was the second coming of Kira f*cking Jesus Yamato with Kio and the 3rd Generation.
I've got a pretty new HG AGE-1 and it's one of the best kits I have. Considering getting the other AGE Gundam variants since they're available. I'm still trying to hunt down a Zeydras and Legillis though, they don't seem to come in stock anymore.
@@LordSpleach Nice. I'm personally a bit torn on the FX. I'm not sure how I feel about binder bits for Gunpla. Though I like the FX a lot from the show and Cross Rays.
I quite like AGE kits from what i've experienced. They're more pricey than they should be on eBay/Amazon but i'll get them eventually. I can see people disliking the spoiler but i find it funky. I want to get the AGE Master Grades... I already have the Magnum thanks to a friend.
The AGE line is a really excellent line of kits that has really held up over the years. If you liked this kit, I'd highly recommend the Adele. Its pretty much the AGE-1 Normal but "GM-ified" (it has the entire white plate so it has a lot of unused parts!) and it can store its DODS rilfe on the rear skirt armor. The AGE-2 Normal/Dark Hound, Clanche Custom, G-Bouncer/Exes/Xiphos, Genoace line, Shaldoll, and of course the Full Glansa all come with a hearty recommendation.
The articulation on the AGE kits are really good, but I think it's more highlighted in the Spallow, which only came with a knife. Looking for to you getting the rest. Also, watch out for the Bisidan suits.
If Bandai doesn't do this then they should also start selling Beam saber effect parts separately. There are so many kits that don't come with beam saber effects. Just sell different assortment packs of effects. Maybe even in nonstandard colors.
Yeah and it's not like they haven't sold clear parts/effect parts before too. Just gotta hope whatever factors hinder them gets resolved for it to actually & finally happen lmao. Oh how the money will roll for them if you look at it
all the core gundam 1's from build divers re:rise come with short and long beam saber effect parts as well with the veetwo variant have bright green and the marsfour variant has them in yellow
Consider checking out getting an Adele (if those things actually ever get restocked). It's more or less a literally mass-produced AGE-1, so it's a lot of the same kit, but with grunty goodness. The Shaldoll Custom and Rogue are great for grunt factor, too, though the Custom's color scheme isn't for everyone, and the Rogue's signature axe is garbage. Edit: Oh yeah, and maaybe pinch your Zaku III's beam rifle back together, you can see through it.
age kits was so good. if only peps not shit on them just because the anime was not good enough. we might still got thos kits that bandai decide to put into blackhole.
I'm kinda late, but I'll just say my thoughts about it haha. Over the course of years, the kits we get have always had a type of standardization that goes into them. An example of this would be the abundant use of the 3mm Pegs that have gone on for so long. Same goes with the round peg beam sabers actually with the ever so consistent size they have and its hole. It isn't far off for me to assume then, that the flat-type beam sabers and the pegs they have would fit nicely on those 00 kits my guy
It should have been a 75 episode series. 25 episode for one season and each season for one generation. Other characters would've been fleshed out better.
I really hate such bland mobile suits as this. Even mass production machines often have more style. See the Zaku and GM series (all six and their variations) to see what I am talking about. No cannons, no fancy melee, no grenades or heavy armor or anything. Just an empty slate, in the same bland color pallete in the same bland way. Engineering though, oh yeah this is good.

Easily one of the greatest HGs of our time. Especially knowing they they hold up so well after a decade. Papa bless you for reviewing this.
It's imo,one of the best hgs to this day, beating stuff like the hg heavyarms or sandrock revive, it's an incredible model kit

If they'd kept the quality they had in the first two arcs it might have been ok... but that Kio arc... UGH!!!
@SERGIO MONTES JR They liked the gundams.
No the kid piloting them or the storyline surrounding them.
