Really enjoy these in site videos. Always impressed by your attention to neatness. My old trade school teacher always told us that every job should be done in a neat and workman like manner. He’d approve of your work.
I appreciate you method as I was wanting to add door access points to a business we just acquired but the whole building is concrete block with metal inset doors. We did want to punch big hole is the blocks either.@@MactelecomNetworks
Yes! I really want to see how the new Intercom system works, I'll be waiting for that video. I haven't seen a review video about the new Intercom from you yet.
wow, I hope these people find a new MSP.. unbelievable they aren't recommending a firewall, especially if the business owner already agreed to buying one 😱
Great work as always! I'm glad to see you are using the velcro on the Panduit cabling. Zip-ties on Panduit cabling is a big no-no and I believe it will fail certification. Panduit is the BMW of cabling - its almost all that we use. As for the electrical boxes you were working on in this video, it looks like you are using the Paradox 8" x 10" x 3" metal boxes??? Paradox also makes a 11" x 11" x 3" metal box. I use the 11 x 11 x 3 box when doing similar work - and they work very well. The 11 x 11 x 3 metal box can even fit a full 10A mount and still be able to close the door (and lock it - if you want). Those are both sold by the distributor that you and our team use. The project was very well done - love the attention to detail, such as centring the WAP on the 2x2 ceiling tile. NICE JOB!
Great video! Im confused about the double doors. how do people get out and unlock the doors? Can't believe the client didn't want the dream machine even with firewall off much better than the cloud key.
Thanks for these videos? How does one run ethernet cable through brick/concrete/flooring? Also, was the customer given a flat rate quote in advance, or was a bill given at the end of the job?
Great Job and very clean and and well organized :-), if you don't mind i wold like to know your opinion i will have to connect 3 x Unify16 port switches to an UDM-Pro, I know is a bad idea to daisy chain switches so here what i have in mind , Cable modem to the UDM-Pro ( connection to the WAN interface) UDM-Pro CAT6/CAT7 to the first switch as both are located physically in the same location, i not concerned about uplink speed as the modem speed is limited to 1 gb/s anyway. And using the two optical ports of the the UDM-Pro to uplink to the other 2x Unify16 port switches. i have to use optic fiber as the limiting fact is the distance ( more then 300 feet/100m), what do you think? would you have done it differently ? Feed back much appreciated , Thank you.
How would you recommending getting the power/signal wiring for the electric lock inside of the frame of these storefront style doors in existing construction?
I have the exact same setup for redundancy. Initially had bought a USW-Pro-48 that a few months died on me. Now I have 2 x USW-Pro-24 so in case one of them dies, I can transfer the essential connections to the working switch until I get a replace.
Do you have a link to the back boxes for the UI RFID readers??? I've been hackoling out brick with grinders and hammer drill but I'm to the point of just installing back boxes!!! Not as sleek but still doable in certain installs!
Nice job, I bet the un-edited version was a lot longer, expect we'll see more here, when you need to go back and install a firewall, when some idiot worker opens a trojan and wipes out every PC in the building.
Very silly question. When dropping 40 cables from the ceiling how do you know which one originates from which device etc when keystoning them and plugging them into your switches? Do you have tags/write on each cable end?
It looks like it's trying to be an 'airlock' type setup. Someone could follow you through the first one, but you have an opportunity to stop them before they can barge in. I don't know if Access can be set up to have an interlock between door 1 and door 2 - that is, only one door can be open at a time. I've seen something like it in more secure entry areas - but those had permanent guards for ensuring no tailgating.
What kind of back box did you use for the readers? (1.10 into the video) I have the same problem in my house (although I have the “old” pro reader. Any suggestions?
Nothing shown here would stop you using v6. I'm typing this on a device which has a v6 address, connected to a unifi AP, which is connected to a unifi switch. Neither of those two has or needs it's own v6 address, and those device's management interfaces don't get internet access.
So they got sold on "everything is in the cloud," and they don't need a firewall? Some of these sales guys should know better that they need something other than the the ISPs modem. Sure, the box probably does basic DHCP, but that's not advice a business should get with a medium-sized office network based on the number of drops. The cost difference for a Cloud Key vs DSMPro is not that much; he should have insisted on it.
Please keep these onsite/on-the-job videos coming. Tks.

"We put on back boxes as we couldn't drill in to the brick"....instantly drills in to the brick to fit the back boxes... 🤣
Big holes in the brick lol

And then they cut they metal frame .....
what i came here to say🤣

i've been really enjoying these onsite job videos. it gives me inspiration and ideas for my own network rack. keep it up cody, alright thanks!
wow, I hope these people find a new MSP.. unbelievable they aren't recommending a firewall, especially if the business owner already agreed to buying one 😱
Totally agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I suspect the MSP provides their own managed firewall as part of the service. Otherwise they would just be an ISP.
I really enjoy these installation videos. It would be interesting to see how you connected the metal door access (the cable run)
Nice job as always. For the G2 Pro reader, was the network cable hard to fish thru the door frame?
Great work as always!

Hello from the basement! Great to see the Mactelecom show S1 premiere!
😂 you’re awesome
Nice install! I've done a few just like this for my buisness, wish I could do them everyday.
Really excited to see an intercom install, I am tired of Identiv and Kantech systems!
Great video! Im confused about the double doors. how do people get out and unlock the doors? Can't believe the client didn't want the dream machine even with firewall off much better than the cloud key.
They can always get out as there is push paddles on the doors that allow egress
Wow, if the client is reading these comments, I hope you drop that MSP. They sound like bad news.
Great work, and no firewall and just ISP modem. LOL, good luck with compliance. That's not your problem though. Maybe in the future though :)
I like that you put the hubs in cans, what are your thoughts on putting the hub above the ceiling near their related door?
You could do that but make sure they are locked. I typically always have mine in the network room
Thanks for these videos? How does one run ethernet cable through brick/concrete/flooring? Also, was the customer given a flat rate quote in advance, or was a bill given at the end of the job?
Do you recommend the G2 Reader Pro over the G4 Doorbell Pro?
Love these installs!
at 0:49 time, just make a cross from corner2coner and see a center of the tile, then punch a hole to see it thru
Do you make the runs yourself or do you have another company run your stuff? What do you use for attaching the bullet cameras to the brick?
We ran all of the cabling. For the cameras ( the outdoor ones) we used what was included with the Ubiquiti kit
Thank you.

Well you're going to have to make holes so most likely with some conduit
Hello, Cody! Great job. What kind of back box did You use for G2 reader? Thanks
It was just a stander single gang electrical box. We bought it in black
Good video Cody ! As always
Is there a reason why you went for 2 x 24 and not 1 x 48 port switch please?
I was thinking the same thing ….
I have the exact same setup for redundancy. Initially had bought a USW-Pro-48 that a few months died on me. Now I have 2 x USW-Pro-24 so in case one of them dies, I can transfer the essential connections to the working switch until I get a replace.

“Couldnt drill into the brick” - Proceeds to drill into the brick
A massive hole in the brick
The RJ45 connector protrudes from the back of the door reader. If it was mounted flush to the wall, a large hole would be needed.
Keep it coming buddy!
Know of a place to source a back box for the G2?
I'm about to mount a G4 Bullet to the outside of my house. What sort of bit do you use to drill into brick?
Masonry bit. Available at any hardware store.
Very silly question. When dropping 40 cables from the ceiling how do you know which one originates from which device etc when keystoning them and plugging them into your switches? Do you have tags/write on each cable end?
If you don’t label them you have big trouble. Ringing out 40 cables in a big location is not fun.
I think it's strange that the msp didn't want a router on site. Unless they expect to throw in a pfsense box there or something...
They said the isp modem was enough 😂
I'd be looking for another msp lol
@@MactelecomNetworks - so what service are they managing, Windows patches? 😆
@@SethWhaley I have no idea 😂 outside my scope of work
What back box are you using? Anything in particular?
I just bought single gang black back boxes from Home Depot nothing special
Nice job!
I'm super confused/curious why there is access control on 2 doors in the same entrance? Surely there is no point to having that setup?
You an I both 😝 not entirely sure
The intention must be to open the first door remotely to allow couriers to drop off packages to a secure area but not have access to the building.
Also, deters tailgaters. My employer has door access and then gated turnstiles.
@@n9wox Surely if you're close enough to tailgate on the 1st door, it'd be no harder on the 2nd...

Never mind. I see you already answered it below. A strangular regular black box it was. Can I fit an old reader pro on iit as weel?
What is the name of the skeleton/open rack you use?
Honestly don’t know where you could buy them unless you’re in Canada. But here’s the link to it
www.nsidistribution.com/WMB1915-8
Do you do work in Dominican Republic?
No firewall? Are they not going to do NAT either? This is 2024. Very bad idea to put devices right on the Internet these days.
Nice
yes!!!! you finally installed
How can I become an affiliate member?
Hey,
I assume you mean the Ubiquiti affiliate? You would have to sign up to the creator program

Why did the access hub have to be mounted in a box?
We didn’t have to but it looks neater. Also those boxes had a cover with a lock on it
@@MactelecomNetworks what kind of boxes did you use ? they look slick . also what size did you think would have been better ?
That moment when you build everything with Unifi and need IPv6 😮. You are lost 😩.
