So one question Cody would that always be ideal on these “remote idfs” just use a flex mini or the 10gb version and a utility box?

I think that could work you just need to look at the operating temperature to see if that switch could handle the heat or cold

Love the install videos. I know as a creator sometimes you just don't know when you upload how the video will perform. You did great on this. It flowed well and a good watch from start to finish. Which is the norm for your channel. Great job.

I can so relate to this video. I myself live on an old farm from around 1830 and I have the same setup. I use 3 USW flex switches connected to poe++ ports on the 24 port switch pro. Also a lot of AP's connected and cameras. But the biggest hassle has been to drag wires all over the place. What a pain, but for now all is up and running. Cody has been my go-to inspiration and knowledge base. Couldn't have done it without you.

If it snows at this house, that camera on the pool house is is not going to like having a bunch of snow slowly coming down on it. If it were me, I would place it just under that eave. Less expensive to knock down snow curtains than it is to replace a camera.
Awesome work so far on everything else!

In curious to see how it stacks up against the other Professional cameras.

I got my Ubiquiti 24 port keystone panel installed to see waht its will look like and I am a little disapointed in the design quality. For starters when I put my keystone jacks in they would catch against the metal plate frequently that I was afriad I wad going to bend the edges. Also when I went to put on the rack ears I noticed they only drilled for 2 holes on the panel itself and not 4 like you get on the ears (plus the extra screws). I guess they felt they wanted to save money and instead of making a quality product they cheaped out. Also this is just more of a reminder they plate that connects to the panel so you can tie your wires to it must go one first before you attemp to put your keystone jacks in otherwise you have to take them all out and reinsert them. I personally never used one of those plates and I haven't seen them being used out the field much.

I'd personally be using shielded outdoor rated cable (either gel filled or dry tape) for anything outdoors. Plus surge protectors at every outdoor device (cameras and APs) and before they plug into the switches. I've seen devices fried by lightning hits or static discharges from nearby lightning hits. Better to have some protection than nothing at all. It's too bad UI doesn't make those enclosures with cable loops inside, so you can have your service loop inside, like fiber enclosures that ISPs use. How wet or humid does that basement get? I'd be worried about longevity of network equipment down there if it isn't somewhat climate controlled.

For the extra long run to the Gate: There is a Company that makes CAT5 or 6 that allows 2x the length, i can not recall the name RN. What you can do though is manually set 100M as speed, that's enough for the Camera & Access setup - since the lower speed transmission is less sensitive to interference
