  • Finally got the opportunity to film 71! This truck came down from Devonport a little while ago to join the southern fleet. It still has some characteristics of the northern trucks such as its original GenV grabs (all the Cambridge depot trucks have UG-6 grabs), the vehicle number on the side is in a different font and size, and the Veolia signage on the tailgate is much bigger than on any other truck down here. I have mentioned this before but it can only take a 3.5 tonne load so not the most efficient for garbage but recycling it’s good for.
Was the absolute shittest morning in terms of weather as you can probably tell. Every third bin was blown over and rubbish everywhere, I was half filming half picking shit up which is all part of the fun. I do apologise for the garbage audio quality, unfortunately just a side effect of the stupidly high gusts. Wind made the job twice as long and tedious for drivers.
    Cheers!

@TassieGarbo there's a post on the advocate about people complaining over missed collections, but more of interest on that page, there's a photo of the/a new Dennis SL240 for Northwest FOGO. A first for Tassie, even has a bit of unique signage amongst the standard Veolia signage.

Bloody awsome mate! so glad you were able to finailly get 71 on film! Defiently a cool truck, prob one of the few 25ms on a single axle left, and not to metention the facelift. It sounds pretty good even if opreating at idle. Big fan of the GenV grabs - they work really well on small 80L bins haha. Seems pretty stupid having this on garbage, reminds me of when we had a 35m full time on garbage. I'd love to see this truck do greens tho. They have 4 single axle 25ms If I'm correct? 71,2,3&4? Seems like some pretty shitty wether, very windy, been like down here for a while, at least it was nice any sunny today.
Be sure to get a video of 71168 - whenever you make it happen 😉
Really enjoyed this one! keep them coming.
    Cheers.

@Merri-bekGarbo cheers mate so am I. It's a 2016 and I think the weight restrictions came in in 2017 or 18 so it's one of the last ones I reckon, certainly not many in service anymore and even less facelifts. They certainly look cool on it, 64 and 71 are the only trucks in the southern fleet to feature them now, the 80L bins do slip around a bit more than the UG-6 grabs though so standing them up can be more annoying.
That's what I think, 35m on garbage is ridiculous, you'd never fill that before going overweight. TassieGarbo got a clip of it on greens on his test channel which I'll link, I do wanna get a proper video of it on greens though. I'm not sure if there's 3 or 4, I know about 71, 72, 73 but 74 may be a 22m.
Definitely going to try and get a video of an Isuzu, whatever the number hahah 68 or 69.
      Cheers mate!

Bloody nice one mate! Glad you could catch 71. Fuck the weather's been shit, makes it so hard for the drivers and compounded with the loose grip the GenV bin grabs have on those little bins would make for an exceptionally long day! This truck sounds awesome and seems healthy and well taken care of, sounds mean even running at idle. I actually quite like this truck being that it is something a bit different from what we have had for so long. I wonder whose idea it was initially to run the big body on a single axle, and what the thinking was. I know they are intended for recycling and the recycler bodies have always been on single axles seemingly, maybe a compaction density thing or just that recycling is typically lighter. 3.5 tonne for everything else is pretty abysmal though, I think the 18m trucks in Glenorchy do nearly 4 trips to the tip a day on garbage. Great video mate, Cheers!

@TassieGarbo cheers mate, very happy when I saw it. Fuck it was terrible today, most bins were empty before they'd even been picked up 😂. Trying to stand the tall 80L bins up with the old grabs was a nightmare, she basically gave up when people werent standing outside watching because they were gonna blow over anyway.
Recycling didn't come until after 3pm so they were very behind, I was going to film recycling as well but by the time he came more people than not had already brought their recycling bin in because it kept falling over, so would've only been every third bin out, was only a Volvo Raptor anyway so nothing I don't already have footage of, was hoping for an Isuzu.
71 sounds like a beast, has an awesome deep rev that sounds sick from idle. Very healthy truck, low Kms for its age and well taken care of, I reckon it's got quite a few years left. Looking up the licence plate says its a 2016 truck, but I reckon it'll last long past the usual 10 years.
I do like that it's something different and pretty unusual nowadays, I would definitely be interested to know the thought process behind these trucks. I believe this truck along with 72 and 73 were always recycling trucks, devonport collects their own garbage anyway so assuming it was always from there. It's strange its on garbage down here though, she had to tip off before finishing here and come back, I reckon 3.5 tonne is barely half full if not a bit more. I think recyclers on 4x2s is because it's lighter and can get away with a smaller truck.
Thanks mate, got another part but is a bit worse due to the wind, wicked hill climb though. Cheers!

@@wasteintasmania How was the face full of shit at 4:25 for you mate? 😂 I've never had it that bad filming, only a little bit of water or polystyrene. They seem to have replated the hopper bowl on 93, there is some primer showing. I'll put the video up on the other channel for you to see. Still haven't cleaned the dirt off it though. Cheers!

@@TassieGarbo hahah was a wonderful experience 🤣, old concrete dust, wind blew it off pretty quick. I’ve only had it a couple of times, I’ve had glass bottles flown at me though 😂
      Ah yeah nice 👍
