How long before 3d printing is ready for the mainstream consumer electronics market. i.e.: I want to go to Best Buy and buy a wireless HP or Epson 3d printer, load a consumable cartridge, design something on SketchUp 3d press print. I don't want to assemble, fiddle, upgrade etc. All software except the design software should be drivers provided by the printer manufacturer. Any guesses?
(1) I was looking at getting a robot arm and saw that some of them can do 3D printing. How do robot arm 3D printers compare with dedicated 3D printers? (2) Is there (currently or in the works) a portable 3D Printing Format for the files that control the printers just as there is PDF for 2D printers?
I've tried the same print and failed like 14 times .. didn't change anything and tried 2 days later and it came out the cleanest print with no imperfections that I've done yet ...
I don't typically leave YT comments, but I just wanted to say that this video was perfect. It broke down every question I had about getting started with 3D prints and gave direct and useful info. Thank you!
Adam thank you so much for this, I am nearly 70 and have been looking for an intro video for a while and now I have found yours and it is so very helpful. Cheers mate.
Bro, Thank you so much for this video. You literally have made me so excited and happy about my future in life because I know for a fact I'm sitting on a gold mine of prints with an idea I have had for awhile. I've been secretly keeping it close to the vest and tracking google to see if anyone has jumped on it but here we are 1 year later and still nobody has figured it out. I finally got my printer, my filament, and I'm ready to start up but I have no idea how to print it. Now because of you I have the knowledge and power to do so. And because you are my Jedi master, I am going to make you this promise. That when I get to boss level status and Im laying out at Kua Bay in Hawaii while my printing business is a major success, I'm going to hit you back up somehow in hopes you respond and in that moment I'm going to ask you whatever you want in life that I can afford to get you, that I am going to get it for you no questions asked. And Marines are always faithful so I will never go back on my word. SEMPER FI brother and Thank you again.
Best video out there as a mom who needed guidance to help out her son with his new printer!!! Answered almost all my questions in one video!!! Thanks!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I'm BRAND new to 3D printing (got one as an unexpected present) and I didn't know what I didn't know. I watched several other "for beginners" videos but they generally left me with more questions than answers. Thank you for meeting me at ground level and assuming I had no basic knowledge to start with (I especially appreciated you explaining what a slicer is for example).

Nice to hear from someone who isn't trying to be a "guru", and still remembers all the questions a beginner has. I've also waited...can't count the number of brackets and stuff I've made over the years using other methods. Gonna make the leap. Blender is also a great program.
3-D printing is such an amazing concept intervention. I wish I was smart enough to figure it out because I see a lot of UA-camrs making cool stuff using a 3-D printer. Sometimes I wish I was an engineer and intelligent.

Thank you for this wonderful introduction to 3D printing. I started searching for something like this maybe 2 hours ago and FINALLY enjoyed someone's content.
I one thousand percent recommend that a newbie get a pre-assembled printer, and if you plan to use it indoors, one with a case. I originally bought a Prusa-based ready-to-assemble kit because it was reviewed well, I wanted a large print bed but at a small price point, and I consider myself to be "handy" and electronically savvy. It took so much effort to get it to where I could even start printing real items that I gave up, and it sat in a closet for years. When I decided to get back into the hobby, I went online to see if I could get an enclosure for it and found new models with cases on sale for very reasonable prices. I realized it is entirely worth it to spend extra money to save the time and effort of tinkering with it every time I want to print. Would I like a larger one? In theory, yes, but in reality, I don't need it for the things I make.
I watched a video just before this one. The guy on that video said your printer is only good if you wanna make large items. He said a resin printer are better if want more detail. He recommended you get both. Your kind for large HO scales, and resin for small more detail look.
I'm way behind the times I know. But I'm just starting out with this at the age of 66 and this has been the best starting point and will be coming back again and again. Thank you for your insight
for new people, an ender 5 plus has massive amounts of upgrades, including corexy, 3 z axis auto bed leveling, direct drive hotend for flexibles full enclosures linear rails etc, the difference is size between the normal plus and pro, i suggest the plus if you like to mod, otherwise go with an flsun sr for plug in and rock working fast for under 450 usd. cant recomend the flsun sr enough, if you have the money go the v400 but for reasonably priced the sr is awesome. just has to print flexibles super slow. hope that helps anyone looking now days

"I didn't notice anything and I'm not dead" is probably not a reliable indicator of the health risks of 3D printing (or any other toxic exposure for that matter). I've had a 3d printer for a couple months now but it's been very intimidating/overwhelming to start and this was the best and most helpful Beginner video out there. The day I watched your video this week I fired up my Chiron, tried some files and ended up making the makerbot figurine on the first try!
I'm partial to Blender3d. It is such a versatile piece of software...the best part is that it is free and open source! It is intended to make production quality movies, so guess what! It is really good for editing your UA-cam videos...just saying. Thank you for another amazing video! UA-cam is always your friend when learning these things! If you're not sure what printer to buy. The MonoPrice Mini Delta (MPMD) is a good budget/plug-n-play/out-of-the-box/low fuss option. (got mine refurbished for $200) If all you want to do is print files from the internet, and not model anything in 3D or CAD, then this printer is relatively user friendly. It does have its quirks, but there is minimal setup and it uses Cura for slicing. There is a really good fb group for MPMD owners that is a gold mine of information. If you end up not staying with the hobby, you aren't out much, and you didn't have to struggle too much to find out. I bought two spools of filament and everything else I use has been from the MakerBox subscription! I heard about it through @3dprintingnerd. I love it. I don't print enough to need full spools ($20-$40 ea) anyway and I get to try out a bunch of fun colors each month ($16/mo for 4 sample rolls of 50-75kg)!!! The entry level "easy" box is only PLA. You can upgrade to another tier and get different materials when you are ready. -Cheers!
Hey this was a great video. I've been interested in 3d printing and none of the videos I've watched explained whether or not you need to have printer connected to a PC or not. Thanks friend!

-Cheers!
I didn't know about the MakerBox subscription. sounds cool!
Hey this was a great video. I've been interested in 3d printing and none of the videos I've watched explained whether or not you need to have printer connected to a PC or not. Thanks friend!
Legend. Thank you so much. I've looked in to this maybe 5 or 6 times over the last 5 or 6 years but was Bamboozled by the information out there. Your video has made it all understandable and I feel more confident to have a go.
1 question..... is the cr-10 v3 just a newer model as this is what I am looking at?
