My wife bought me a 3d printer for Christmas. Your video is the first one to make sense to me. Now I think I can actually use it. Or at least start to figure it out. Thank you
Maurice… you have absolutely no idea how great that makes me feel. Not only am I new to 3D Printing, I’m also new to making a video like this one. I wasn’t sure how well this would be received by my regular viewers that are used to seeing me build cool projects out of concrete and I certainly wasn’t sure how this would be received by the 3D Printing community. Your comment validated my decision to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. Now I can continue forward with my plans to try and diversify my channel to keep it fresh and relevant. Thank you SO MUCH Maurice and thank your wife for me for buying you a 3D Printer haha. Please email me if you run into any problems or have any questions.
FIRST THING that comes to mind... creating a customized pet memorial grave stone with reverse printed graphics, then building a form for concrete. Put in graphics in bottom of form, pour concrete, let it cure, then pop it out. Place it over your pet's grave🥰
2 suggestions: 1) Run the printer on a good UPS so you get clean power to the controller and also if there are any blips in the power, it won't interrupt your print job. 2) When making molds, add a few degrees of draft so demold is easier.
Thank you for the shout out and hopefully my camera setup videos helped with your blink camera! This video is so helpful especially seeing a noob be able to make such cool and helpful things things at such a great inexpensive cost, might just have to add this to my shop!
I havent gotten my 1st printer yet, and I am SO excited to do so, but your concrete thing at the end, would TPU work for that? (flexible filament)... n00b question! And AWESOME VID! I am really leaning towards this model!
Like the video. I am thinking about buying one. Do you have a video about the plastic? I understand thar there are different mediumsI. Like different colors. ,hardness, metal impregnated and so on
Haven't even finished this video. And I have to say; your honesty is appreciated. I don't have a thing against affiliate links, but I wasn't sure you were honest about it, until you mentioned the non affiliate one. With all the recommendations you did and such as well. :D You earned yourself a new subscriber, and a lot of respect from me at the very least. :D Keep up the good work :D
Lots of respect for you, your creativity and resourcefulness. i jumped on this printer (through your link) when I saw your vid. Keep at it Micheal and continue to help out noobs like me to take things "just one step further!"
You did great on this video! It’s different from your normal stuff but you did good on it. You made 3D printing seem super easy and approachable! I was considering getting one but now I think I might get this system you have! Super cool, can’t wait to see what else you do with it.
Thomas thank you SO MUCH for this comment! I can’t tell you how much better that makes me feel that I stepped outside of my comfort zone on this one. I know I made some of my regular viewers mad but I want to diversify this channel and people like you are helping me do that. Thank you Thomas! Email me if you have any questions or run into any issues when you get your new toy haha
I love my 3D printers! I have two, a 400x400x450mm unit and one about half that size. My problem is, I enjoy modifying/tweaking them more than actually using them.
@@MichaelBuilds I also love my laser, and of course, modifying it as well! I enjoy your videos, I want to try concrete end tables and a coffee table soon!
Don’t know if you see these but you inspired me to create a dining room table with concrete and live edge molds. I’d share a picture but not sure how. Wish me luck. I’ve watched your videos over and over so hopefully I’ve got this!!!
THATS AWESOME AARON! You can share your projects on Instagram and use #MichaelBuildsCommunity. I would love to see that table! Make sure to use plenty of metal reinforcement.
Haha I promise I’m workin on the next video as we speak. Jump on my Instagram and there are updates on my progress. Heck, I’ll even do ya one better. Shoot me an email and I’ll send you back a pic of what I’m workin on this very second lol. MichaelBuilds313@gmail.com
Absolutely. I was also going to print a Michael Builds Logo and make a ”Smooth On” mold from that but I ran outta time. So many things I wanted to do lol
TPU is the way to go. I have done this method for concrete molds. With hard plastics it needs a slight slope on all 'right angles' and it helps to use mold release/powder.
I have used the free sketchup online version but cant seem to find the downloadable free version. Could you tell me where you found it, what version you are using, and is the version you are using a trial version?
How did you manage to make sketchup make the cirkulare surface more smooth? I started using sketchup but gave up on that program when I couldnt make a more smuthe surface on cirkular surfaces? Im using Fusion 360 now instead.
woahhhhh I just saw the subscribe button has got RGB colors running around it when you said "not to subscribe to my channel", subscirbed!, don't tell me what I cannot do!!
This depends on a lot of things. Type of plastic, indoor or outdoor use, coatings, angle of printing, wall thickness, infill density (more is not always better), layer density, temps used to print, and probably more. I have been 3D printing for nearly 9 years now on a few different FDM machines and still am learning based on application of the design.
The longer lk4x printer I bought worked good for 200 hours then the extruder stopped working between 20 and 50 percent of the print with no clogging I checked all this longer would never respond to me so I have a junk printer I’m going to try and fix it but longer warranty zand tech support suck
So many people print so much junky dust collecting items, what a waste of resources, plastics, electricity, time and money! If you have one of these then use it to actually make items that are useful, dont waste resources on things that will get thrown out, lost, stuffed in a draw or sit on a shelf catching dust.

That’s a really great idea…be super good as a gift for someone too who just recently lost a pet. A finished headstone.

He needed mold release and should have used a more flexible filament.

It’s the least I could do brother! I’ll let you narrow it sometime haha
subbed👍
Reverse print the mold, and then place it in a silicone mold, then use the silicpne mold for your logo.
Michael!!! I'm happy to catch you now! I'm at work though. Have to watch the rest later! I want a 3D printer!!!
Lol 😂
@@MichaelBuilds Just finished watching the video! Thank you for the awesome and detailed demonstration and tips! I see a 3D printer in my future! 😄💕
@@marielynn5234 you’re lying to me but thank you anyway lol 😂

Great video. Just what I needed as a complete beginner. Thanks!
We need more build videos! I love all of your concrete ideas as well. It just seems like a last few of your videos seem to be advertisers however.
Next video is a build video, promise 😉
Would you recommend this printer? Trying to get my first printer.
Woohoo, michael. omg, perfect picture. later! ;))

So awesome you responded. I’m using a full 20 foot stick of 3/8 rebar but think I’ll get another. Looks like I’ll need to get instagram lol
Well now I need to find a football team to help me flip this monstrosity I think it’s weighing around 530 lbs.
Do you think a releasing agent for the mold might work? Furniture spray wax or WD40?
I'm sure you're busy but C'mon Michael, we've been waiting over a month for a new video. Jonesing over here! 😉

Nice video, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks Bruce!
Aquanet hair spray works for if you don't want to use glue.
Do you think you demonstrate the portable sawmill and make a cool table top and use epoxy?
If your printer supports TPU, what about using TPU rather than PLA for the molds?
TPU is the way to go. I have done this method for concrete molds. With hard plastics it needs a slight slope on all 'right angles' and it helps to use mold release/powder.

Autodesk Fusion360 is another free 3D program (for hobbyists) that can export stl files

I’m actually with you on that one. I can’t get sketch up to make smooth radiuses either so I might try out Fusion 360 as well as Blender

I’m wondering how strong the printed parts are. I’m thinking of making custom angled connectors for aluminum tubes.

I saw someone use hot water to get cement out of a mold.
There’s an idea! I need to try that
How come I can't find out what kind of 3D printer this is? I've been looking everywhere on this page and I can't find the name of it, someone help
I have the name listed in the videos description 3 times along with two different links…
Works 98% of the time all the time lol
They're sold out. Bummer.
P.S. They just made me buy the Bambu Lab P1S3. Sucks to be them.
Did you forget the WD40?
Nope lol 😂 I think the ridges we’re giving the concrete something to hold on to haha
Nice Video.
