    Beautiful great wheel. I enjoyed your presentation very much. I have a great wheel and was spinning on it today. I love it!

    This is the best demonstration and explanation of how spinning is done that I have seen so far that is understandable by children. I showed this to my fourth grade Alabama History class when we studied the pioneers of Alabama (I know the states are different, but I imagine the spinning and surrounding circumstances would be the same). I definitely recommend this for a class. Kudos to this very informative and likeable presenter!

    My mother just bought this spinning wheel today. She has always wanted one. She bought a kit to get started.

    Someone random walks into your house. Instantly explain how to clean wool and use a spinning wheel. 🤣 No but seriously, love the video

    Always wanted to see a wauking wheel in operation. Thanks 4 the demo! We had a few of them scattered around where I used to work, but they were not operational. Smaller wheels at that time used 4 flax.

    Where is Daggett Fram located? I was born in Daggett, MI. The story was that the Daggett Brothers settled and starting a logging industry.

      Different Daggett. This house I heard is from Connecticut.

    Correction: India created the chakra, NOT the Great Wheel. A chakra is a machine, yes, but much smaller (about the size of an attache case) and on the horizontal whereas the Great Wheel is vertical.

    If you only spin the wheel in one direction, how do you wind the yarn onto the spool?

    • @sarahmay6636
      @sarahmay6636 3 роки тому +1

      You spin in the opposite direction for a split second and you can move the yarn up the spool

    • @Ravencall
      @Ravencall Рік тому +1

      You keep going the same direction. When you draft out the fibers you are holding the strand out at an angle from the point of the spindle. This twists the strands. When you need to wind the yarn onto the spindle you hold it directly in front and it winds on instead of twisting.

      I just bought one that looks complete, except for the driving string, for a total of about $15 at an auction. Nobody wants something this big.
